Roleplay = Story or interview involving your wrestler.
RP = Short way of saying Roleplay.
Handler = The person who is writing for and controlling a wrestler. When you create a wrestler, you are their handler.
IC = In Character (meaning something said or done AS your wrestler)
OOC = Out of Character (meaning something said or done AS yourself, the handler who controls your wrestler)
Face = Good Guy, Nice Guy, Fan Favorite, Gets cheered by most or all of the fans.
Heel = Bad Guy, Rule Breaker, Hated and booed by most or all of the fans.
Tweener = Someone in between Face & Heel.
Jobber = Loser. A feeder character for active members to easily destroy.
Angle = A plan or storyline.
TBA = To Be Announced.
Card, Event or Show = Regular weekly results where the matches actually happen.
PPV = Pay-Per-View
Character Development = An RP or even a news/rumors post that basically furthers your character in some manner. A way of being active In Character, but outside of a regular roleplay for a match.
Our main interviewer is named STEVE SAYORS. He could be considered a "face/good guy" in most cases. He is a wimp and can easily be pushed around and bullied. He won't fight back and will just try to stick to being professional at all times. If your character is a face, good guy, etc... he will most likely get along with them and agree with their views.
Our alternate interview is named LIZ WEINBERG. She could be considered a sarcastic "heel/bitch" in most cases. She might be likely to mock or make fun of your character and WILL snap back at people who disrespect her. She has more balls than 30 Steve Sayors combined. If your character is a heel, an asshole, etc... she will most likely get along with them and agree with their views.
The XWF owner is SHANE CARVER. He's primarily a heel. He can be used in your roleplays to some extent, but do not physically attack him or do anything major with him unless you actually spoke to him first in private and got permission.
The giant screen that shows videos over the entrance-way to the arena is called the X-TRON. Not the titan tron. (examples: The X-TRON flashes to life as we now see some backstage footage. ...or... The X-TRON lights up with the entrance video of "Wrestler A" as his music begins playing through the air...)
TWO RPs per day is the MAXIMUM -- This is to prevent people from posting a ton of roleplays on the same day.
Suggested word limit per RP is usually 700 to 2000 words -- This is only a suggestion to go by because most people seem to be able to produce good quality at those numbers. You can go above this number if you want to, but remember a smaller RP can sometimes be more entertaining than a longer one. Longer RPs won't mean you automatically win the match. Remember the overall weekly "feel" of QUALITY and entertainment is what wins... not quantity/wordcount. The better and more entertaining ROLEPLAYER in a week wins the match at the end of the week. If the judge sees the quality as a tie then the total number of roleplays a person posted could be used as the tie-breaker instead of making the match end in a draw, so it's always a safe bet to cover yourself by posting more roleplays if you have time. The number of words in an individual RP do not matter when it comes to judging a winner. We don't count the amount of words in your RPs. This is because one person might be great at writing A+ roleplays at 700 words, while another person might be great at writing A+ roleplays at a much higher number. Neither person should be punished for the way they are most comfortable at producing their best quality. DO NOT try and force yourself to write more or less than what you are most comfortable with... it will only hurt your work because it will seem forced.
BIG TIP: If you see your opponent posting multiple RPs throughout the week you are HIGHLY encouraged to post more than just 1 last minute RP on the last day of the week. If your opponent has been posting throughout the week but you wait until the last day to post anything, meaning your opponent has no time to read & respond to your RP, then that might hurt your score by a couple points or it might mean we'll accept a late RP from your opponent so they can address what you said in your RP. We LIKE seeing back and forth action here. We are NOT fans of sandbagging (aka posting all your work at the last possible moment so your opponent can't retaliate to what you say). This is a great tip for those who want to do their absolute BEST here.
For TAG TEAM matches, we highly recommend that each team has AT LEAST 2 roleplays by the end of the week, regardless of which team member posts them. Since either person on a team can post as much as they want, and since there is a full week to do so, there is normally no excuse for a tag team to have a grand total that is less than 2 at the end of the week. A team that ends up with less than 2 RPs at the end of a week (or less than whatever number of ppl are on the team) will almost always lose to a team that posted at least 1 RP for every member of their own team that week. If both teams cover the number of team members with RPs, regardless of which team member posts them, then we go back to the default rules where the number of RPs does not matter. There's a good chance that the two best roleplays for a team will be what we count the highest in a week, just like in a 3 on 3 tag match we would probably count the three best roleplays for a team, in a 4 on 4 match we'd probably count the best four... etc... Sometimes exceptions will be made but that's normally how we'll look at tag situations. If both teams in a match go all out with a lot of roleplays then obviously we'll use a larger spectrum to come up with the overall best team that week.
If you want to set up a specific limit of any kind you can simply reply to the thread that has that week's card on it and negotiate a limit with the other people in your match. Other than that, we aren't going to tell you how much or how little to write. We know how to recognize the better quality/entertainment that somebody produces throughout a week and that's what we go by when judging winners.
Q: What happens if I quit or leave without telling you?
A: You will be jobbed until I decide to remove you from the roster. If you have a title and do that... you better have a good excuse (assuming you plan to come back).
Q: What's the correct way for me to leave or take time off?
A: Let me know BEFORE your next/final match happens so we can handle it properly In Character with some sort of angle.
Q: Can I use HTML or other coding in my RPs?
A: Absolutely! I encourage "nice" looking RPs. I like seeing a good custom layout. Just make sure you don't use dark colors that are too hard to read, or colors that clash in some manner that messes with the eyes.
Q: Can I use music in my RPs?
A: Absolutely! You can code your RP to play music in the background or you can post a music video from Youtube or whatever you want!
Q: Can I use "real" wrestlers? (Stone Cold, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, etc..?)
A: Talk to the owner first. Currently there are some cases and special events where this can be done, but it needs to be approved first because we don't want "real" wrestlers having duplicate signups (we don't want 2 John Cenas, etc..) and we don't want them showing up on the wrong show/event.
Q: How can I get that big "push" to the top, win titles, headline pay per views, etc?
A: Go above and beyond. Period. If all you do is post the bare minimum each week then you might win your matches but you won't really catch the attention of the people who run the shows. GET MORE INVOLED... post roleplays throughout the week, send in attacks or segments for the shows, make and accept challenges on the challenge board, post on the news/rumors board, etc... Basically if you are here to GET noticed then you will BE noticed.
Q: Can I directly challenge a specific champion for their title?
A: Sure. Just post your challenge on our challenge board and IF that champion accepts your challenge then you will get a shot at their belt! Champions have a large say in who they will face, because after all, they've earned that right! Make sure you post your challenge IN CHARACTER.
Q: How can I get a title shot if a champion refuses my challenge?
A: Post something IN CHARACTER on the news/rumors board about how you want a title shot at whatever title. The staff will see this and take it into consideration, either by giving you a #1 contender match or by giving you some other chance to PROVE you deserve it. If you prove it through whatever means the staff sets up for you, then you will get your shot even if the champion does not want to face you!
Q: I lost a match that I really, really thought I should have won. Can I ask for reasons why I lost?
A: Yes, but do so at your own risk and make sure you do it IN PRIVATE. If you openly complain about a loss anywhere on the forums then you will be considered a whiner and will most likely be ignored. You might even get jobbed on purpose if you openly complain on the forums, just to humiliate you the same way you're trying to humiliate the person who worked hard and beat you fairly. If you send a professional sounding PM (private message) to the staff then we may try our best to explain why you lost. If you find yourself asking this question a lot, we might have a problem and you might want to reconsider your membership here. Our tolerance for repeated questions about why a person lost is low because most of the time the answer will be: "The people who judged your match were more impressed by your opponent's work this week and scored them higher."
Q: Alright, I get not to keep asking why I lost... but what if I want to ask for specific pointers on how I can improve?
A: You're more than welcome to do that! Send a private message to the General Manager(s) of your show or the owner. Ask for some tips on how to improve. You'll usually get a very thorough response as long as you ask politely.
Q: I've noticed you guys will often write a wrestler's name in ALL CAPS during the event results and in some other areas... why is that? Is it mandatory that I do that too?
A: This is done so that anytime an important/relevant character is mentioned, it's more likely to catch your eye if you are skimming through the results really fast. This is normally done for ACTIVE roster members and official staff members, but personal side-characters like managers and valets usually should not be in all caps. It's up to you if you want to utilize this method in your own work. It will not help or hurt your score, but it might make it easier for somebody you're mentioning to notice what you said about them if they are skimming quickly through your work. Also, if you are submitting a written segment to us or a match that you wrote, taking this extra step when you write it out will save us the work of doing it ourselves since this method is always employed IN actual written results/segments/etc.
Q: There is a clock on the upper right side of the xwf main website. It says it's the official RP time. Can I trust its time to always be accurate even if the time on my own computer is wrong?
A: No. The clock on our site can easily be affected by the time on your computer being off by a few minutes or more. Basically what it does is takes the time from your computer and then changes it to display as Eastern time zone for you by adding/subtracting however many hours behind or ahead you are of Eastern time.
Q: How many wrestlers can one person create/handle?
A: As many as you can manage to keep active without hurting your own performance. Everyone is different. Some people might be best off with just one character while others could possibly handle several without any problems. If you feel like creating a singles wrestler and also having a separate tag team, go for it! If you want to handle several singles wrestlers, go for it! As long as you consistently roleplay for them and produce decent quality work, everything will be fine.
Rule #1 is that we're all here to have FUN! If somebody else is causing you problems or harassing you in some way, please let the owner know so they can be warned and/or banned. We do not tolerate any form of making another person's stay miserable. DO NOT talk negatively to other members "out of character" in ANY way. If they report it, you will most likely be banned. Keep your emotions IN THE RING aka IN your roleplays and IN character!
Plagiarism of any kind is strictly forbidden. Using writing from any outside source for your roleplay without giving credit will result in immediate termination.
The management may turn your story around and alter your angles to improve your story or "push" your character. If this happens, be complimented by it, because it means we want your character to grow in the XWF.
Be involved, and be mature. Although RP skill is still the only determining factor for winning matches, your attitude backstage and your constant involvement in the XWF, on stage and off, will get you bigger and better matches as your career evolves. If you keep "paying your dues" week after week, you WILL get noticed. If you are sporadic and lazy, especially when you have a big match scheduled, you will get less exposure and shorter matches. A no-show for a match will drop you like a stone in the eyes of the entire fed, and may leave you fighting for your job next week.
Basically, since the staff has no preference as to who does well and who fails, your career is totally in your hands in the XWF. You can make yourself bigger using these tools, or you can just RP, win matches and be labeled "underrated" for your entire career.
Do not use harmful actions in your roleplays. In other words, don't beat up other wrestlers in your roleplay. If you'd like to attack another wrestler you can submit a segment and do it at the actual event.
Deadline Time for posting roleplays/interviews is 11:59pm Eastern time the night before a show. Late roleplays may or may not be accepted and will be entirely up to the judge or general manager for that show. RP at your own risk after the deadline. Normally the only reason a late RP will be counted is if your opponent "sandbagged" you, which means they waited all the way till the last minute to post their RP in hopes that you cannot respond to what they said. If that happens, let us know and we will make sure to count your response RP. We are NOT fans of sandbagging here. Sandbagging is not a strategy.
This is an IN CHARACTER FED above all else. If you are here, you're here to ROLEPLAY and be involved in storylines. If you are simply a lurker, watcher, visitor, etc... you can still browse and post in the OOC sections but don't abuse the privilege in any way and please don't complain or speak negatively about any person or anything else in the fed. We will not tolerate non-active users starting any drama here, especially since we don't even let active users do that. ;)
If you're going to be taking time off please let the staff know BEFORE the event airs that you just roleplayed for. In other words, DO NOT wait until you see the results of a show and then suddenly decide it's time to take the rest of the month off. This will be taken as you just "not liking" what you saw in the results (such as you losing a match) and you might get fired from the fed if you are that immature. If you are leaving the fed permanently or for a long time, you STILL must let us know BEFORE your last match airs in the results. If you pull something where you quit as soon as you win a title, WE WILL CHANGE THE RESULTS AND ABSOLUTELY HUMILIATE YOUR CHARACTER AND PERMANENTLY BAN YOU FROM THE FED. Nobody here wants to see that type of trash, so don't try and get away with it.
Breaking any of our rules will result in your wrestler(s): being jobbed, losing your current contending rank or title, being suspended, or possibly being fired and permanently banned. You may or may not get a warning first, so DON'T try your luck. If you're unsure of something please ask the staff before doing it.
