Hey everybody! This is a sort-of event health-check.

Our next PPV for November is War Games. If you've never been part of a War Games, it is my very favorite show of the year.

However, it is also the most personnel-intensive.

The last four years in a row, WarGames has played out as a six teams of four, battling in a single-elimination tournament to be crowned the best team. Each team battles another in the first round, and the team members that survive the first round reach the WarGames finals against the members of the two other teams that survived their first round matches. Eventually, only one team survives and that team is crowned the winner.

It is, in my opinion, a blast. It's a show that emphasizes the collaborative nature of the game we all love. It also forces a handful of characters that would otherwise never interact to build and forge relationships which then come up constantly in the coming years. Tag-teams and trios form, segment partners connect, it's really good for the universe we're all building together.

War Games also takes up a decent chunk of the cycle. People decide they want to captain, then there's a captain's match to decide draft order... Some people intentionally get eliminated early in the captain's match because first place gets pick #1, but last place gets pick #2... Effectively, coming in second in the Captain's match puts you at the end of the draft, BUT then you get the first pick of the second round...

...Do you see how excited I get for this show?  Big Grin

...HOWEVER. We kinda need a significant number of people to make it happen. And we've also had a significant number of people take a creative hiatus after Relentless.

Which brings me to the point of this post... Please reply if you plan on opting in for War Games. And also if you'd be down to captain a team!

If we get 24 *fingers crossed*, we'll do War Games exactly like we've done the last four years (yaaaaaay!)

If we get less than 24? We'll think of a solution!

Current options on the table:
  • Reducing the number of teams
  • Reducing the number of members per team
  • Reducing it to just one round
  • Changing the PPV

Anyway! We'll figure out what to do, but it all depends on you and how many of you want to be a part of War Games!

Thanks!

What's the rp requirement?

I ask because this is the first year it's being run with a 1 rp standard rule in the fed. I assume that would be the case here, but also an optional team rp? (P.S. for newcomers, every team should do the team rp).

Howeeeever, one of the hallmarks of the team-based nature was the reserve list that could have someone jump in if a team had a no show in the first week of the cycle. Is there any reserves/insurance process this time round?

We haven't yet discussed RP requirements, but I could see something like 1 captains RP at 2500 and 1 team RP at the typical 4k.

Before we can potentially have a reserve list, we have to figure out if we have the interested numbers to even hold this ppv as previously planned.  That said, I think we can likely assume that if we do move ahead with War Games, that we will have a few alternates available.
