Gotta love some King Diamond and company Big Grin

Mine is a toss up between two bands / artist ... Motorhead and Frank Zappa.

You got the insane guitar solos from Zappa and the funny songs

Motorhead you got that raw power and speed that makes you go :O

To find John, turn those lights out because he will then appear...

My favorites are tied between The Devil Makes Three and Gogol Bordello.

That being said, "God Hates A Coward" by Tomahawk is my favorite song.

My favorite band tends to change regularly, so a few groups and artists that have caught my attention as of late, accompanied with one of my favorite songs from them:

Among others, but I'm too lazy to continue onward.

EDIT: I would also like to make it clear that my number one spot, always and forever belongs to Trocadero. Implied to people who know me better, but not implied to anyone else, lol. I would list off one favorite song, but dammit I can't!

I'll do a top 3, I suppose.

Coheed and Cambria -

Queens of the Stone Age -

Muse -
  • Coheed and Cambria are a progressive rock band who base their songs on a story/comic book series written by the lead singer, Claudio Sanchez. I feel that their music captures these intense little moments of emotional significance perfectly.
  • Queens of the Stone Age are a stoner rock band. I just love how Josh Homme and company can go from intense badassery to beautiful introspection in a matter of one song.
  • Muse are a rock band from England who like to blend little bits of proggy things into their music. Their latest release, The Third Law, wasn't quite as good as their earlier work, but I still love them -- this song in particular because it's the first Muse song I ever heard, given to me on a mix CD by my longtime significant other.

(01-11-2014, 04:01 PM)Griffin MacAlister Said: Two of my favorites since I was first getting into music as a kid and have carried on to today as my all time favorites are Social Distortion and The Smashing Pumpkins. There are other bands that I dig but those two have stood the test of time and even if I go through a long period where I haven't listened to them for awhile, the minute I listen to them again the musical love affair is rekindled for them and I am instantaneously reminded why they've been my favorite bands for so long. I've seen both of them a few times live, Social D more than the Pumpkins but I still caught both their shows more than any other band I've seen live.

Favorite songs from the two would have to be...

"Disarm", "Mayonaise", "Ava Adore" and "Muzzle" by Smashing Pumpkins
"Mainliner", "Story Of My Life", "King Of Fools" and "Bad Luck" by Social Distortion

(yea...it's supposed to be one song from each but fuck it...I named four.)

Side note @ Stevie: I love Gogol Bordello.Them gypsy punks are the shit!

Smashing Pumpkins and Google Bordello are the two best live shows I've ever seen.

I would have figured more people would have been into METAL! LOL
I generally stick to my Death and Black Metal…doesn’t mean I don’t listen to softer stuff…I think my favorite soft band is 311. I like the mellow beats and when I just want to relax I can tell you that Dying Fetus WILLNOT relax you! But when I work I generally listen to Death Metal.
When I went on a trip alone and I was driving for 18 hours straight I was so tired of Iron Maiden (I only had what was on my phone to listen to) that I actually listened to WHAM!…I have shame….I liked it a little…

I was totally wondering at first why Trocadero didn't make that list. I gave them a listen before. Figured I'd hate it, but it's actually worth listening to again.

I think you were trying to help me find new music for Sean Falcon, III.

That I did. I can't remember what song it was, though. Though, in a way I didn't leave them off the list entirely the first time: Jeff Williams is their producer and was their keyboardist for a while. So the Trocadero spirit remained in the list without them being put in it directly, lol.

Best live show for me was the Gallows in a 200 person room before Frank left and wade from Alexisonfire took over as vocalist, the dude did a song on the bar, on the lighting rig and on top of the bands security guys shoulders all while pulling a mike lead through a room you couldn't swing a mouse in never mind a cat. I played the same stage myself 3 years later and have absolutely no idea how in the hell he did it
