How do you prep for the roleplays you write?

For Eli:
I just write whatever I imagine when I think of the character at that moment. I've been impacted by how the weather is at the time, to lack of sleep, to some small scene images from movies. I usually just write, and write, and write.. sometimes the ideas have nothing to do with each other and I reread them to see which idea I can push further creatively, and trash the others. Plus, there's a very small portion of me in the character which helps me picture that part of myself in the scenario.

For Elisha:
I use to write a lot of dark poems and short stories. I was, and still am, a big fan of symbolism. Most people never understood what I was writing, and it would be interesting to hear peoples take or interpretation on some of it. I use that part of myself for Elisha, plus a few Halloween movie thoughts.

For Waldo:
I just write. I'm really a goofy guy in general and like to have fun. I make people laugh often, so this is just me fucking around and coming up with stuff that's 'out there'.

For Anonymous:
I tried to envision Sting, Joker, and a guy constantly hearing noises in his head wrapped in one. It was difficult.

For Brock:
Um, ... watch Brock.

For Swagmire I just kind of imagine what kind of antics he could dragged into by either Frodo or his kids. I also try and incorporate his huge racism into it somehow. For this current arc I bounce ideas off people first.

For Frodo, I just imagine doing something routine and letting it go entirely wrong, or right I guess. I also get ideas from things around me. Like when all this Ukrainian stuff is settled, he's going shopping for a new dog or something.

Maria, no idea. She's on hiatus.

When it comes to trash talk, I read my opponents most recent work and just formulate ideas. When it comes time to talk shit I tend to just riff. It's always been easy for me, I think it's a naturally ingrained ability as a New Yorker. I use a bunch of metaphors for punchlines and generally try to use as many different names as I can while still maintaining focus on my opponent.

When it comes to writing stories, it depends. I've had runs where I focus on serious writing and in that case, I usually have weeks, if not months, of material planned. The stories last for multiple roleplays. When I'm writing comedy, it's more episodic in nature and I usually just think of a funny idea and roll with it. Sometimes I'll do research on a specific location and incorporate it into the writing to provide authenticity. I always try to stay current with news stories so my ideas seem fresh. That's where the whole #JusticeForAidan thing comes from, I thought it was hilarious to draw parallels between Ferguson and Trayvon Martin with the way my first match turned out.

I just try to advance a story. I like to keep it relevant, so I'll move whatever everyone else has going on forward too if I can.

As for the character I just think of a bunch of idiot friends I have and do that.

I also sometimes like to be clandestine when I write. No one can know what I'm doing.

My Nero rps are always chock-full of esoteric stuff, I often wonder if anyone picks up on it.

I generally sit down with a blank mind, have a good playlist on and let the spirits move my fingers (I kid, but it does sometimes feel like automatic writing).

It varies for Austin, say for example, I could be pissed off at something happening in my real life and the anger shows in my roleplays. If I talk about death, destruction, wanting to see the blood pour from your soul...yadda yadda.

Other times, I am like Neo, I will sit with a blank mind, usually with my music playing and then just go with it.

To find John, turn those lights out because he will then appear...

I haven't done much RP'ing lately but I had a different method for each character--

For the 3rd and most recent Sid Feder character who has the Waylon Mercy picbase I would try to think of scenes from Cape Fear or watch old Waylon Mercy vignettes, mixed with some random touches of off the wall humor.

For the 2nd Sid Feder character who was very short lived and had the Magnum P.I. picbase I would listen to Van Halen and Def Leppard and watch old episodes of Baywatch.

For the original Sid Feder with Brian Pillman picbase I'd just open up anywhere from 2 to 4 blank documents at once and start writing different scenes in each because I had endless stories to touch on from different parts of his past and what developed him into who he became -- a complete psycho on the outside but with a burning passion like no other when it came to wrestling and his family. I'd literally jump between them every few minutes and just add to them; one page where I'd be writing scenes involving he and his crazy wife, Flo; another open that may have related to another family member or his father; another page just relating to any random current scene or adventure he may be going through. Then I'd piece them together so each RP contained small portions from each and keep telling those separate stories over time. I don't know why it was so easy with him. Sometimes old clips of Brian Pillman would inspire me when it came to the more crazy stories or trash talking. Pillman's ECW appearance is full of great inspiration.

For Mister Mystery with Jason Voorhees picbase I'd just think of or watch sickening horror scenes from old movies I loved -- Friday The 13th of course, Nightmare on Elm Street, the older Halloween movies. Then I'd try and adapt those feelings into what would happen if that kind of sick fucker was in a wrestling promotion and knew he was being filmed, and enjoyed displaying vile acts and talking shit to people.

When Mister Mystery was revealed to be Original Sid's father and renamed Poppa Feder, I pretty much lost inspiration and just reverted to trying to think of him as being like Goldberg.

When I was the Headless Horseman -- later revealed to be Original Sid in disguise so he could do a surprise cash in -- I just wrote rapid fire smaller roleplays that were very short, bizarre scenes and tried to keep them really offbeat. I seem to remember getting some inspiration from the Alien movies even though not much of that crossed over into the writing itself.

For Brock Lesnar I just would think of Brock in action and how he'd probably talk if given more air time and had more of a trash talker's personality -- sort of mixing Sid or Mister Mystery trash talk with the type of person Brock seems to be portrayed as on TV, just not giving a shit about anyone and talking down to them like they're worthless.

*drops bitch* What happened--? ? *walks away*
