Backstory/Important Character Details: Scoops McGee is one of - if not the - oldest current veteran working as an active wrestler within the industry. He grew up working and tending to his family farm in Sioux City, but split from his family once he came of age as he wanted to go on his own journey of self-discovery and entering the limelight.
Scoops broke into wrestling in the early 80's in the twilight of the Territory Era, bouncing around various wrestling promotions in the Midwest to help him gather experience and get better in the ring. Just when it seemed like he was getting his feet under him and could make a run for one of the bigger promotions soon, tragedy struck. Scoops' father passed away too soon, passing the family farm to Scoops in his will and forcing him to come back to Sioux City to help tend to it.
The next few years with helping to organize the farm and keep it operational while putting his dream on hold bred an anger and resentment within Scoops, one that not even starting his own family could quite solve. Fortunately, the times had been changing, and for many wrestling companies within the 90s, the times began to look to a more... 'hardcore' solution. It was just what Scoops needed to reinvigorate his life. He would bounce in and out of the life of his farm and family, suffering a divorce and leaving him with his son as a result, but in doing so Scoops would get in touch with his malicious side as he became one of the top hardcore workers in America, with the extra money Scoops got from putting his body on the line nonstop helping to keep the farm running, and even expanding several acres out.
The question always lingered of when he should hang up his boots for good. It wasn't always that easy to figure out as the years went on, though. Fighting became something of an addiction for Scoops, one that he just couldn't let go of. It costed him a lot within his life, but he lives right now with no regrets - save for the fact that Scoops never quite managed to win a world title in his years of fighting.
Well, Scoops knew that was the one thing above all else he wanted to change. Looking for one last chance in the limelight after decades of hard work in the business, Scoops managed to get hired into the XWF as they've been looking to expand. With this new opportunity given to him, Scoops is ready to raise Hell one last time and etch his name into the record books before he allows himself a quiet retirement.
Strengths:
Striking. Scoops is famed for his stiff strikes inside of any wrestling ring, able to put the hurt on even larger competitors than he - especially with his stiff left forearm that can knock any opponent that gets hit by it loopy.
Experience. With the amount of time that Scoops has spent inside of the squared circle, he's seen almost every trick of the trade possible. That experience he brings to the table allows him to help improvise and adapt to almost any type of opponent possible.
Pain Tolerance. Scoops is known for being able to suffer an inhuman amount of pain, having shed buckets of blood in the ring over his decades of competing. Especially in a big match situation, your best odds at putting him away would be to practically kill him. Scoops will even one-up this by putting himself at risk for 'big spot' moments consistently, enduring whatever pain that may come as he tries to put away his opponent.
Weapon Skills. Scoops is practically gifted with knowing several different innovative ways to put the hurt on his opponent when weapons are involved. With a penchant for bloodshed, Scoops can and will bring out the worst side of himself possible in any match where weapons are legal.
Weaknesses:
Technical Skills. Scoops lacks much of the flexibility and submission skills he had in his youth that would allow him to be a much better technical wrestler. Though he has some basic submission holds in his arsenal still just in case he needs him, that time has largely passed. As a result, Scoops usually pulls off his counters through clever timing and planning.
Stamina. While Scoops has a remarkable level of pain tolerance even in longer matches, the same can't be said about his stamina in his older age. Any match that goes over 15 minutes will result in Scoops steadily blowing up in the ring as his offense becomes progressively limited.
Lifting Power. Scoops doesn't have enough power in his body to be able to regularly lift opponents that are significantly taller and heavier than him. Typically, he'll try and save himself as much as possible to ensure he can hit one of his finishers on his opponent, or set them up for his submission signature move, the Merry-Go-Round.
Entrance Theme Music: Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Ring Entrance: The show is quickly interrupted by the sound of a distant synthesizer, followed up by horses neighing and galloping through the dirt. It fades out, leading into the riff of a guitar strumming a fiery tune. There's an inherent electricity building within the air of the arena, culminating as the drums kick in. As they do, the steadfast figure of Scoops McGee comes out from the back, a look of no nonsense etched onto his face as he takes a long look at the crowd and the squared circle.
He nods, steadily walking to the ring and absentmindedly high-fiving any fans stretching out their hands who happen to be right in his way. He makes his way over to ringside, climbing up the steps methodically and stepping onto the ring apron. He saunters about halfway across the apron, taking one last long look at the crowd as they give their reception to the seasoned vet. Scoops stretches his arms out wide, accepting everything they've got to give before stepping into the ring.
Scoops skulks over to his corner, pacing there and doing some small stretches to keep himself warmed up before the match begins.
In-Ring Style: Scoops is a callback to bygone age, a rough-and-tough brawler who doesn't give a damn at all in the ring as he puts his body on the line night in and night out against whoever he may be across from in the ring. He has a flair for the theatrics at times, wanting to make sure he's 'the big scoop' at all times to help the fans pop big-time. Any chance he has to also use a weapon at all in a no-DQ match, he'll take it. Scoops is arguably one of the most dangerous workers in the business the moment he has any weapon in his hands.
