As a reminder to everyone, in a few days we're going to be shutting the boards down temporarily while I work on giving our site a much needed and long overdue upgrade that is going to take a considerable amount of my time and effort.  I want to make sure everyone has a chance to log on and see the results before I take down the boards, so I'm going to wait until WEDNESDAY NIGHT, 10pm board time (pst) to take them down.  My guess is that the entire update process, followed by my having to rebuild a huge portion of the site from scratch (due to this major upgrade reverting a TON of our custom stuff to default and requiring all plugins/modifications to be reinstalled/tested) will take several days, possibly over a week.  If all goes well, we'll return with an even better site than before and possibly with a new design.

I haven't been working as many hours lately, so this is a good time for me to put more of my personal time toward this.  Things are very tight right now though, so if anyone would like to show their support with a donation, this is actually a time it would be very helpful and it would need to happen BEFORE I take the site down Wednesday night.  There is even a small chance I will need to ask for paid assistance if this upgrade goes haywire like I've read about it doing to some people who try it on their own.  Keep in mind if you don't have much $ to spare, even 5 or 10 bucks helps.  Please don't avoid pitching in just because you think $5 or $10 isn't much... because it DOES help if multiple people are doing it, and if you're in a position to help much more than that, great, please do whatever you can.  Here is the link:  http://xwf99.com/announcements.php?aid=7

Reverend, your reply is a cop out. You didn't try. Children have more say in their parents' money than the parents do -- fact. If your parents have the choice between putting money toward some useless video game or toward a community that helps you improve as a writer, which would they choose? Everyone needs to step up regardless of age. This is 2015; everything requires money and everyone has a way to make it happen. I've done it. Not trying to sound like a dick but I know from past experiences here that a lot of people just shrug this shit off and take this site for granted, which is not cool.

There was one thing that kept me from posting. So I was typing up what I decided to be the first promo. It was about to be finished, when my computer decided, "Hey man, you doing something? Yeah, fuck you." and I didn't get a chance to save everything. The other thing, Mav and I couldn't finish because of said computer problem. When I finally got it working, it was 1:30 p.m. CST on Sunday. I tried to get promos out and got fucked by my own shit. If non-TJ characters can say why they couldn't do promos, I'll no longer call them assholes, and I'd consider them okay, cause rl comes first, but if they have no excuses, then, wtf?

I fucking had plans. I was about to put out two promos, and work on a third. If my computer would give me a warning next time, I would have saved everything.

Guys, let's calm down. It was my fault as much as the no- showers that we lost. I had a lack of communication established throughout my team, which did cost us somewhat. rl problems were just as bad on my team, and that will always come before XWF. I myself didn't go as hard as I wanted to, but I had fun all the same- which is what we should do while we're on here.

On a happier note, I do look forward to the new boards.

If by some chance something like that happens, I'd be sure to take all things into consideration to make it fair. I might lock the X-treme board tomorrow before we go down just to avoid any last minute pins that could cause confusion.

In theory, no. In reality, it's always safe to make back ups because nothing is a guarantee. The upgrade should NOT erase signatures or avatars, and I highly doubt they will be lost, but there's always room for unexpected glitches and mishaps at a time like this.
