Studying to become a teacher is freaking hard work. Sometimes someone just needs to rant.
I am a junior, attending a small (and I mean less than 1000 students) college in the Midwest. I have two majors. One in teaching high school English, and one in elementary teaching. Since this college works through my church synod, once I graduate I will get a job teaching at a school in the synod with no questions asked.
Now, giving me a week to come up with an entire school year's worth of lessons for a subject (on top of the homework from other classes) seems a little rough, but I can deal with it. Having me write a lesson plan once a week? Cool. I can do that. Have me teach a mini lesson to other students? Piece of cake.
But I swear, these profs are in cahoots. It's a Monday morning, and I've been assigned to write five different lessons plans on five different classes with five different subject content. Plus an eight page paper on American minority writers. I know I'm paying to learn, but this is ridiculous.
There is no social life here. We can't afford to have one if we want to be in bed before 2 am. Requiring five hours a week for out of class work for 6 classes a day tells me that you don't care either. That's not a healthy way to build relationships between people that have to work together for years to come. Oh, and don't let us bring that up to you without making sure that you go to administration and have them send out a campus wide email about it.
We know how to write lesson plans. We've been doing it for years now. Writing five a day isn't going to help me learn anything but that no teacher in the history of the world has ever followed their lesson plan. When half your students are on Adderall and anxiety drugs (that one's me!!) you got problems.
So yeah, that's my rant. Just needed a place to type it out.
Peace y'all!

It probably should happen. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to spend here other than to see if I need to write a RP or further my character. I like it here, so I'm trying to give it a lot of break time when I'm not doing homework.
