I like your writing and I dig the multiple perspectives and characters. I have no idea how that NY RP fits in to wrestling, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

yeah I figured I'd write it to give a bit of insite into like, what was happening in the background of her Central Storyline. Some stuff I read here doesnt even really have anything to do with wrestling, its just massive CD and somehow it wins matches. I mean, I like that sort of feel. i.e. Olive Pendershore. Her RP last week mentioned nothing of the match she was in but she won. No Sarcasm at all, Thats Dope.

All of that is going to shift. Some of heavy hitters don't drop a lot of reference to the match. Relevance is taking a bigger part in judging, according to Shane. That being said, only thing I saw that needs pointed out. Swagmire isn't Frodo's friend. They're brothers.

That doesn't keep them from having sex, though.

Swagmire is not gay. He's not bi. He's perfectly heterosexual. He has a girlfriend, she's white and blonde. If the 24/7 Board was up I'd link you to where Frodo found out he was adopted.

There's a 24/7 action board, not for titles or nothing. And no, the site went down before LH's pin could be counted. Rayne is still the champ.

As far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't have to directly mention your match in every RP as long as you do it at some point for your match and with enough time to have some back-and-forth with your opponent. I'm going back and forth between trash talk RPs and character development RPs so I can build depth to my character while also tearing people a new asshole. I'll also be cross-referencing shit so I guess that helps build continuity.

I'll go ahead and give your work a quick read in a little bit, Zoey.

To me, it matters in terms of actual match roleplays. Sure, the CD board is wide open, do whatever you want. But, when you're being graded on something, there have to be certain standards and restrictions, right? I'm a writer. I have dozens of short stories around. I even have one starring Vinnie Lane. I could easily take those, cut them into parts, and serve them up as roleplays doing very little work. If you force me to stay relevant you take away that ability.

Not to mention, if your roleplaying is way out there, what does your opponent have to work with? For instance, if I was against Zoey and she used that CD roleplay for our match, how would I possibly respond to it? What does her friend running afoul of a Russian gangster have to do with me in a wrestling match? I'd be forced to mostly ignore it and just cut some generic "I'm gonna get you" promo. This all works better when we feed off of each other.

Again, I'm not at all against writing developmental stories, as long as they're in the right spot, but for the actual judged work I think it's fair to expect relevance. Not even necessarily directly mentioning your opponent, per se, though that's better.

Vinnie, I fully agree with you. I use that when I get to asked to judge, and all of us will be asked to at some point. If you've never mentioned being in the fed at any one point in your work for the week I assume you pre-wrote and that you're not here to actually wrestle. Not every role play needs to be match specific, but include that you're a wrestler in the XWF. For instance, Frodo did a story where he got pissed at having to face Santos because he was such a boring opponent that he went camping for a week. Now, I didn't specifically address Santos for a few role plays, but I based the story around it. It's also where the Fancy Feast came from.

if you look there is a whole Shoot Section of my RP. So I mean, I try and keep it somewhat relevant while still progressing a storyline.

Yeah, I saw, I was just using it as an example. Your NY RP was in the CD section anyway so it's totally cool to do whatever.

Yeah, I was just trying to make the point that you can use character development roleplays that don't directly deal with wrestling as long as they further your gimmick. For example, if someone was writing for WWE's Bray Wyatt, they could write a roleplay dealing with the origin of his character/Sister Abigail and it would further the match by offering insight into why he's such an intriguing character. With Aidan Collins, I use him trying to impregnate 100 women this year as a way to highlight that he's a jackass that you want to see get beat up.

Of course, half my rps are pure shoot style where I just talk trash. I think it's imperative that you have a balance of story and trash talk. You want your character to be interesting but you also want to address the fact that they're a wrestler with a match later that week. Both shouldn't have to be in each work, but you should definitely have both at some point during the week.

I am not a fan of the style where a character acts one way in promos but then the writer writes a piece about the character's "personal life" and they act completely different. I also hate people who expect people to not address certain aspects of their promo. If it's in the promo, it's on TV, we can all see it.

And I whole heartedly agree with you. It's like Maddy said once, forgot where, if was said in a promo, it's ammo. If I wanted to go all the way back to the James Raven boards, might need Barney's help there, to dig up dirt on Blizzard, well I can. I went back to the Jon Brown era for ammo on Peter.
