I haven't heard of that particular issue arising so hopefully not. Otherwise I might as well just install a brand new board instead of going thru the trouble of upgrading and transferring the database. If by some freak accident everything is lost I'd still have the backup that I'll be saving the day I shut the boards down to begin the upgrade.
