So last night Skype actually logged me OUT and told me "we logged you out because you're on an older version blah blah blah fuck you"... and so I finally was forced to upgrade to the latest Skype. I immediately could see why they were forcing everyone to use it against their will... there was a giant ad banner across the top of the chat windows that REFRESHED EVERY FEW SECONDS and made clicking sounds when it refreshed! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Curse you, evil Skype!

Anyway, if you're like me and you really can't stand the new ad banner across the top of your skype, you can get rid of it by adding https://apps.skype.com/ to the list of restricted sites. If you're not sure how, try it with these steps:

1) Open Internet Explorer

2) Go into the Internet Options menu

3) Go to "Security" and select "Restricted sites"

4) Click "Sites"

5) Add https://apps.skype.com/, click OK

Once you've added that URL above as a restricted site, it SHOULD make it so that top banner never appears in Skype... for now anyway.
