As utterly cliche as it sounds, there's a bit of proven medical fact behind the idea of positive thinking. I'm much too lazy to log into EBSCOhost or JSTOR right now to look up the sources, but I'll summarize. Even though what you are facing is an incredibly real issue which is significant to you, negativity will only worsen your mood. It's chemical, really. Serotonin and melatonin and all that. I'm not going to give you that bloody tired phrase -- "look on the bright side" -- but I will offer you this: if you think everything is going to come down to a pit full of shit-tipped syringes, it will. If nothing else, remind yourself that you are important. If not to yourself, if not to us, then to someone, be it a deity, a parent, a loved one, or a friend. There is someone who cares, though you may not believe it.
