I used to have a professor say that the reason you're "blocked" is that you're afraid to write what you want to say. Not afraid in the 'I'm going to die' sense, but more that what you want to confess to as he put it may shock or disturb people or move them in some way. Sort of a "What will people think if they read this?" moment.

I'm not doing his words justice, but when I'm blocked I'll just pause what I'm doing and think on the singular emotion that I want to express.

My best advice -- write one good scene. It doesn't matter if you keep it or not. Write one scene where your character talks to -- I don't know -- we'll use Jessie here as an example. What's that conversation look like? What are they talking about? You may find that ideas stem from that.
