Really consider watching some NJPW work. And I think NXT does some decent story telling.

This. Okada/Shibata and the entire Okada/Omega trilogy has some great storytelling among a plethora of others. Even down in NXT you had shit like Aleister Black/Velveteen Dream stealing the show at War Games.
