1: Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man was the first comic book that I ever read, and the first book that I actively collected. So seeing Spider-Man on the big screen for the first time was a really amazing experience for me. At the time, it was the best attempt at bringing a comic book to the big screen. Admittedly, it doesn't hold up as well today, but I still list it as my favorite due to nostalgia.

2: Captian America

For much the same reason as Spider-Man, Captian American was another favorite as a kid. My school library actually had some hardback editions of early Captian America comics. Him fighting Nazis and the Red Skull. Those were awesome books. I didn't so much care for the man outta time that Captian American became, but those early adventures were among my favorites. Considering that this movie focused entirely on Caps origin, it would have had to stink really bad for me not to rank it near the top.

3: Deadpool

This one makes me look like a bandwagon fan. I assure you that I'm not. I have actively collected Deadpool comics since he first showed up as a generic assassin in New Mutants. I bought, and read the Circle Chase and thought it was ok, but it was Deadpool's first ongoing series where I really begin to enjoy the character. By the time of the 2008 run, Deadpool had become my favorite character in all of Marvel. This movie was a damn near perfect big screen rendition of that character. Unfortunately now EVERYBODY likes Deadpool, and he is this decade's Wolverine. Bad news for me, because I'm spending around $100 a month just to keep up with Deadpool comics. Deadpool the duck, really???

4: Batman 1989

Michael Keaton is Batman, fuck Christian Bale! As a child, I managed to wear out in excess of 10 VHS copies of Batman. I swear I watched this movie almost daily. The score, the mood, the odd gothic feel to the film. All amazing, all Batman. The magic was lost in the sequel. It's good, but it's not Batman. By the time the Joel Schumaker films came out, Batman was just a campy joke again. Batman begins tried, and honestly did a well enough job of bringing Batman back for Adam West Hell, but they just didn't have the right feel to them. They didn;t feel like Batman, this did.

5: Superman 1978

This is where me a Caedus will butt heads. He likes Man of Steel, but Henry Cavill is no Christopher Reeve. To me, Reeve is Superman just like Keaton is Batman. This is another tape that I managed to wear out numerous times over as a child. The Krypton scenes are better, the origin / young Clark scenes are better. The love story between Clark and Lois is better. Sure, it's not an action film like Man of Steel is, but it is still a great film that stands as a timeless classic. It also captures a lot of what makes Superman comics what they are. Man of Steel is the New 52 Superman brought to life on the big screen, but Superman 1978 IS Superman.
