Sorry for the delay on the main event for Warfare. Between things getting changed around last minute and other work (non-fed) keeping me busy constantly, it's taken longer than I had hoped.

I should have time to finish wrapping it up and post it soon. It's 99% done but just a matter of me physically finding a solid uninterrupted 30 minutes instead of random 2 minutes here and there. Very busy day for me today. (I work from home and therefore am almost constantly on duty when times get busy)

This week I went out of my way to get match writing help in advance and you all came through with flying colors, and somehow the last part of the event still was delayed. I can only blame myself for that, so now I'm forced to make a change. Starting this week, ALL Warfare matches will be of a shorter length and be more focused on just highlighting the big spots. It will be similar to how we did the House Show results in summaries, but with a bit more detail on the bigger matches.

A lot of people have told me they just look at winners or they just skim matches for good spots anyway, so if a large portion of the fed doesn't even care about the minor details of their match, why not shorten them and save us all time?

Anyone helping with match writing will be told a small word count to fit the match into... something like maybe 200 to 500 words MAX depending on the match and how many people are in it. That's about half the length (or less) than current matches tend to end up. This will let ME write matches on the fly much quicker and it will help volunteer match writers by giving them less work to do per match and, if they're willing, hopefully give me 2 matches for the price of 1.

Questions/comments/etc welcome.

(01-10-2014, 01:30 PM)Michael McBride Said: Awww man. I won't lie. I feel like if I had a word limit, I couldn't bring out the full match. I'm still down to help write match if my help is needed, but do I have to do the world limit? I try not to make the match too long so it grasps the readers till the end. So yeah lol I don't know if I like this idea, but I understand why you want to do it.

It would depend on the match, how many ppl are in it, and what level of match it is. In most cases I'd rather see if I'd be able to get 2 small matches out of a person who previously would have written 1. The Warfare card just had another match added to it so it's pretty large once again, and things may keep blowing up. We could potentially be looking at cards twice as large as this one in the near future if people keep signing up/returning. I have a feeling things are going to get a lot more active in the early part of 2014.

Just throwing my 2 cents in ... I agree that mid-card and the Main Event should be written out with no word count. That's just me. I like reading a well written match and I like the pay-off after working hard all week. That's my opinion, but I'm happy to help write matches sometime.

I read all the results just because I know the hard work it takes that goes into the writing, regardless if I 'care' about the match or not.

I do like the idea of 'smaller' results for the 'lower' matches for the weekly shows. For PPVs.. of course every match should be long and well done (unless the roleplayer didn't really help).

Another idea...

The match length/quality in detail goes based on the rpers for the match.(?)

I'll say that the lower card could be shortened into a sort of "highlight reel" rather than a full match, but let's say the penultimate match and the main event should be written out in full. It would save writers a ton of stress. Just sayin'.

At the same time, we'd have to make sure that those involved with lower-card matches would understand that their matches will be expressed in this format, so that no one feels "skimmed over." It's very much a battle of ease vs. personal feelings. I don't want anyone to feel that we don't believe them significant.
