[It opens up to JB at a restaurant by himself on a warm afternoon in Baltimore, as he is eating his lunch, he gets some people who notice him. He then signs some people’s autographs, he even see’s a five year old black child, with his mother who was excited to see him.]
Child: Mommy Mommy! IT’S JOHN BLACK!
Mother: I know it is honey, let’s not disturb his lunch time.
Child: BUT MOM!!!
[JB then nodded to the child, and the mother gave him a marker and a paper for JB to sign onto. After he was done writing his signature, the kid ran in the restaurant in excitement as the mother tried to catch him, but stopped mid way to let his energy out, then she looked at JB who was taking a drink of his sprite.]
Mother: Sorry about that, my child can be too wild at times, and he’s just a handful.
JB: That’s okay ma’am, I hope to see you both again soon.
Mother: Oh we might! Thanks!
JB: Oh before you go, I want to give you both this.
[JB then pulls out an envelope from his knapsack, and opens it to show two tickets for a future XWF event around the area. He hands it to her, and she smiles at him and walks away to catch up with her child. Then he calls his waiter and pays for his meal, and leaves the place taking in the fresh air in the scorching heat. About fifteen minutes later, he finds himself in an ice cream store. He was looking at the flavors, and one of the workers assisted him with his order.]
Ice Cream Worker: Hello Sir, what may I get you?
JB: Can you hook me up with a small cup of chocolate ice cream?
Ice Cream Worker: Coming right up, sir!
[JB gets his chocolate ice cream in a cup and pays for it, then he sits down at a nearby table and he eats his cup with his spoon. After he was finished, he picked up his phone from his knapsack and he noticed a couple of text messages from someone named Sonja he met off a dating app four weeks ago before he deleted it. Then she starts to call him.]
JB: Yo Sonja, what’s up?
Sonja: Nah uhh, don’t what up me! You haven’t been answering my text messages lately. Why is that?
JB: You know I’ve been busy with my own shit, and I don’t usually like to check on my phone like that often. Why are you so pressed over me not texting so quickly?
Sonja: I get lonely at times, and you know that I need constant stimulation.
JB: Nah, I know you mean validation, look when I first matched with you on that app, I thought you were chill and what not, and we haven’t even seen one another in person! But now, i’m kinda reconsidering that idea.
Sonja: Oh come on John, you don’t have to be like that. Look, I am a spatic 20 something year old girl who’s been in situationships in the past, where I felt like I wasn’t going to be loved or respected.
JB: Oh right, you did tell me that you were involved with a bad boy who got your panties wet when he was out here raw doggin your best friends behind your back. So now, you need someone like me to make you feel better, right?
Sonja: Whatever, I'm blocking your number!
JB: Good day to you as well.
[JB hangs up his phone, and blocks and deletes her number off his contact list. Then it moved into nightfall, and he was chilling at an open park area where people where sitting down and watching a fireworks display. After it was over, he managed to meet up with an old friend from his days in NYU named Jimmy, who looked like a cross between James Franco and Micheal Cera, decked out in his USA apparel.]
Jimmy: Johnny Boy, how have you been living man? You still caught up in those shady business things?
JB: Nah man, I gave up on those dealings long ago, i’m pretty much keeping a low profile on myself in Maryland. So, what have you been up too?
Jimmy: Well man, i’ve been workin in this construction business for some time now, though it’s hard labor but I got to do something since the job market in my field isn’t worth a cent.
JB: Oh yeah didn’t you graduate with a degree in Journalism?
Jimmy: Yeah man, I was doing alright with a short term gig in a York Press but they ended up laying me off due to covid back few years back, along with the others.
JB: Oh that sucks man, but i am glad that you got yourself back on track with the construction thing.
Jimmy: Yeah, I might stick with that for now, but before I go let’s exchange one another’s numbers so we can hang out or something.
JB: Sure man.
[JB pulls out his phone and he gets Jimmy’s number and saves it, then he shoots him a text which he receives and both men went their own ways to their cars, as the scene simply fades off with fireworks.]
“I had a decent day, where I was doing my own thing, seeing my fans and making them happy. Gettin to delete a girl's number who was being too pressed about needing validation, and meeting up with an old friend from NYU over a night of fireworks. I mean, I might not be a super duper social creature unless i’m in the ring or backstage at times, but there are moments where I need to be away from the thugs outside of the fed. I know Reggie convinced T to join Machina’s team so I hope he’ll fare well in that environment.
Plus, me and him are teaming up the day after my match this Thursday, so I guess we’ll still be around in some capacity until then. But for now, I am taking on Marf, I know that me and him don’t exactly get along. I mean, from our battles and other things of that nature kinda makes me sorta jaded on him a person. I know he’s down with the dark side of life, and that’s not withstanding a one time crew he was with that had something to do with hands or some other nonsense like that.
I got to ask Marf something, how’s your ex-friend doing? I hope she didn’t go team Jacob and ate your remains in the woods, that would suck right? I don’t know much about those books and movies, but I do know that they can scarf down a human in seconds. I might be joking, I don’t really need to know about her, since you are beyond that realm of caring about someone who doesn't or didn’t care about building a foundation with him.
Marf, our team beefed with one another just because Tommy couldn’t keep it in his pants, we didn't need to get involved and let THEM fight one another, but you know how it is. Especially when we got caught up in those tag belts against Knux and Grand PoButt, where neither of us could even get it off their waistlines.
But that was the past, so now it’s just the two of us, Marf.
I don’t care about winning against you, because I know what’s already been set in stone from the upper management. They still see some stock in you, so they want to make sure that their dividends are on the market with a man like you, so that means that I have to go ten times harder to break those trust funds out of their pockets this Wednesday from now.
I ain't afraid of fighting you, and fighting you… and fighting until Charlie stooges on us for putting on a brawl-tastic match that would get me heat for it after we finish it, like how Mikey Whipwreck went down in WCW against Kidman on PPV. I will say that, no matter what the outcome is going to be, I am going to just kick your ass across the Target Center to the freaking actual target store itself, maybe we’ll get a discount on some new threads as I whoop you across the men’s aisle and back to the arena itself.
Consider that as a parting gift from me to you, Marf.
