“I know it doesn’t look like much, but I think this location has a lot of potential. Besides, it’s the only place that I could find in the area that was within your budget.”
VV looked around the room, taking note of all of the damages that needed to be repaired before this place could possibly serve as her new training location. She felt a bit overwhelmed by the sheer thought of it. Never before in her young life had she had a more daunting task in front of her. On the other hand, the property in Cali had fallen through. She hadn’t really explained why to anyone, although to be fair, it’s not like anyone had asked anyway.
”Do you think we can get them to come down $10,000.00 on the asking price?”
“We can try. I’ll send them an offer asking for $15,000.00 less, and if they say no, at least we have some room to negotiate.”
VV looked around the room again, this time she began to recognize some of that potential that her real estate agent kept going on about. A slight smirk formed on her face as she envisioned what the gym would look like after she had completed renovations. With a ring in the center of the room, a section for cardio, heavy lifting, and all of the most advanced machines lining up and down the outer walls, and of course everything pink! Maybe this wasn’t the location that she had hoped for, but she could make due. VV looked back at the real estate agent who at this point was just standing quietly behind her, observing her every move. Annoyed by this, VV snapped.
”Don’t you have something that you could be doing?”
“Oh, um… Sure! I’m just going to step right outside and give the selling agent a call.”
”Thanks…” She said with an obviously sarcastic tone.
As her agent walked just outside the front door, VV decided to explore deeper within the building. There were only two rooms off from the main floor. One of them was a single person bathroom, the other, an office maybe? Her agent had told her that this place was previously used to package Christmas ornaments. Yeah, that’s right, Christmas ornaments. Apparently the place was known as the Op Shop and it employed “special” people whose only job was to sit in this room all day and package bulk lots of ornaments into smaller, store ready packages. It isn’t a wonder the place ended up in the shape that it’s in. After all, how much money could you possibly make if you’re entire business plan is reliant on ? Then again, the XWF seems to be doing okay with marketing guys like Jason Rayne.
”Hmm, maybe after I embarrass him on Saturday, I should offer Jason Rayne a job? This place could always use a janitor, and I’d be celebrating the buildings history by employing the handicapped!” She said to herself with a chuckle before being interrupted by the sound of her ringtone. It’s her friend and soon to be former room mate Jessica. For those not keeping track, they had a bit of a fight the other day. VV accepts the call, but answers coldly.
”Yeah?”
”Hey… Got a minute?”
”I’m kinda in the middle of something right now.”
”I just need a minute. I just wanted to tell you that I’m sorry about what I said last week.”
”Which part?”
”Come on Ash, I’m under a lot of stress with school and all, and then to come home to you and a camera team waiting to offer me a contract… It was a little overwhelming to say the least. I… I just flipped...”
”So what, are you going to go on the road with me now?”
There’s a deep sigh from Jessicia before she says anything.
”No girl, I’m not. That’s your life, it’s what you wanted for yourself. I want to finish school and hopefully find my path in life, but that doesn’t mean that we have to just stop being friends. I’ll still be here if you ever come visit. Speaking of, when are you supposed to move out to California?”
At this point VV drops her guard a little and for the first time in weeks, you see VV for what she was and still is to a degree, a naive and vulnerable little girl who is trying so desperately to grow up and face a world that she’s not fully prepared for.
”Actually, I’m not moving to Cali anymore...”
”Really, what changed your mind?”
”I...”
Come on Ash, tell her. Tell her how you decided to try and find something in New York because you didn’t want to move so far away from your best friend. Tell her how sorry you are for what happened last week. Tell her how you have always looked to her like a big sister, and how you can’t imagine your life without her in it.
”I found a pretty rad place right here in New York!” She said with a false sense of excitement.
”Oh, well that’s cool. That means that we can still visit and hang out!”
”Yeah, there’s that too. Um listen, how about I text you later or something?”
”Oh yeah, sure. I’ll talk to you later Ash...”
”Yeah totally… Bye…”
She ended the call and stood there for a moment staring into space, lost in her thoughts. Like so many others in her life, VV had called Jessica a distraction. She said that she didn’t need her in her life. It was similar to what she said to Corey last Savage, but right now in this moment, she stopped to wonder if pushing the people that she cared about the most out of her life was really the way to achieve what she hoped to in the XWF? She was becoming unrecognizable to herself, not just in the way that she carried herself, but her way of thinking as well. She wasn’t just acting differently for the sake of doing so, but instead she was changing into a different person, a person who she wasn’t so sure that she wanted to be...
"Okay, I sent a verbal offer to their agent and now we're just waiting to hear back from the owners."
Startled and slightly annoyed by the sudden interruption, VV quickly dropped all thought on the subject and fell right back into her new ways as she turned around and snapped at her agent in a childish manner.
"Whatever, just call me when we're ready to close the deal!"
"What if they don't accept the offer?" He said with a bit of confusion.
"Ugh, why am I even paying you if you don't know how to negotiate!?! Get me the best deal possible, but obviously I want the place so make it happen!"
Normally this bitch would find herself getting told to go fuck herself, but there is an 8% commission on the line that requires a little bit of shit to be ate here.
"Will do…"
”Ladies and gentlemen, my opponent has spoken! I have to admit, I was afraid that he was too scared to actually speak up. After all, he was VERY hesitant to let Steve Sayors into his locker room. So much so in fact that I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing behind that closed door. I mean come on dude, you had to know what everyone would think you were doing when you yelled "GO AWAY, I'M BUSY", right? Well, as it turned out, we may have thought right. Steve was studying the tape of his last match. Of course he didn't really elaborate on what exactly he was trying to learn from watching that tape, but I think that it's safe to assume he was more focused on Miss Michelle's assets than he was the so called mistake that cost him the match. Honestly I find it pretty damn hilarious that you didn't feel comfortable just coming right out and telling Sayors to give you a minute while you finished up. I mean, it would have been pretty straightforward and blunt, and I'm sure more than a few would have taken shots at you for playing with yourself backstage while watching footage of the woman that kicked your eyeballs out of your head, but since everything else that came out of your mouth also opened you up to ridicule, you might as well have used that opportunity to prove how big of a bad ass you really are by not giving a flip what everyone else thought. Besides, you would have instantly picked up a fan in Shane if you had!”
"Nope, I just don't believe it, I don't believe that you were locked in that room all alone studying that match to seek out whatever mistakes you may have made because let's be honest, Jason, you got kicked in the back of the head while your back was turned and you ate a pin fall, end of story. Outside of growing eyes in the back of your head, I'm not sure what you could have realistically have learned from watching that tape. Now, if watching footage of old matches is part of your regimen to prepare for our match, maybe it would make more sense to sit and watch footage of your opponent, you know, me? If you did that, then maybe you wouldn't have stuck your foot in your mouth so many times and exposed yourself as an unprepared goon who's in WAAAAAY over his head right now. I mean come on dude, one minute you're bitching about how getting kicked in the back of the head can't be counted as a real win against you, and then you turn right around and say that you wish that you thought of it yourself first. Taking advantage of someone who doesn't have eyes on you is like totally the simplest play in the book, but you wish that you would have thought of it first!?! Newsflash dummy, given the opportunity, I'll gladly do far worse than kick you in the back of the head, and then what? Are you going to be all like, "Vita kicked me in the balls! I wish I would have thought of that"! I tell you what, go ahead and punch yourself in the junk until you can't stand, I'll pin you, and we'll go ahead and credit you with the assist on MY victory. That's about the ONLY way that you walk out of this match with anything to brag about."
"Oh, and we've totally got to talk about that whole generic tough guy routine you've got going on! You're going to beat up my dad if he comes down to the ring? That's a totally bold move by a sociopathic predator isn't it? I mean sure, I too would love the opportunity to slap your mom around for unleashing your stupidity onto the world, but that's not the point here is it? Ugh, why am I asking you like you'd have the answer, obviously you don't because you don't know fuck all about anything that you talk a out. If you did even the slightest amount of research on me beforehand, you'd know that me and my pops aren't exactly on the best terms, and you'd know that the chances of him being anywhere near the State Farm Arena are nil! Not that I would need him or anyone else to help me handle a total scrub like you in or out of the ring! Yeah, you heard me! Do you really think that I'm afraid of facing you outside of the ring? Of course you do, because you couldn't be bothered to watch any of my many meetings with one Tommy Wish. Each and every one of them resulted in Tommy trying to take things to the extreme, and me still standing over him as he desperately tried to catch a whiff of my feet as MY hand was raised."
"Do you know what I find the most amusing about everything that you had to say Jason? It's the fact that you actually think that there is something special about you, something that sets you apart. It's the fact that you THINK anyone is supposed to fear climbing into that ring with you. Don't get me wrong, I know everyone has a chance and nobody wins one-hundred-percent of the time. I mean, I could trip over the ropes and break my neck all Billion Dollar Baby style or something, so I realize that you have a shot here, but that's not because of anything that you bring to the ring, that's for sure, because unlike you, I did study up on you. Of course, it wasn't all that hard besides wasting hours trying to track down a single shred of footage from this eight year career of yours. Not that it matters what backyard outlaw wrestling "promotion" you honed your skills in anyway, because it's obvious that wherever it is that you've honed your skills, the place didn't serve you well. For real dude, the only thing worse than sitting through one of your copy and paste generic promos is actually watching you attempt to fool people into believing that you're competent in the ring. So yeah, prepare yourself Mr. Rayne, because if the opportunity presents itself, we're going to test your theory and find out just who should be afraid of who here..."
Vita lightly punches her right hand into her cupped left hand before pressing down and cracking her knuckles. A devilish smirk creeps onto her face as she repeats this with the other hand.
"...and as far as you questioning why this "spoiled brat" calls herself "Vicious", I'll let you wait to find out the answer to that this Saturday Night…"
