The night was quiet. Vita peered down over the city from the rooftop above. Things had been pretty slow for the super sidekick as of late. Vita sighed from boredom as she sat down along the edge of the building, her feet dangling in the air. Vita pulled out her cell phone and resorted to taking a “super selfie” to help her pass the time. As she swiped through the different filters trying to decide which one looked the cutest, Something caught her attention. It was the sound of glass breaking out in the distance followed by a burglar alarm cutting through the silence.
Judging by how loud it was, Vita deduced that whatever it was, it was within a block of her current location.
The Pink Mist: “Alright, FINALLY! Time to smash some skulls!!”
Vita leapt off of the roof and free falled to the alley below. She fired her grappling gun just before she would have become meat sauce and slowly lowered herself to the ground. Vita took off running down the alley, cutting out into the main street. She stopped for a moment to figure out which direction to head next. After a moment, she headed down the road and dipped through another ally. When she emerged on the other side, she found a small electronics shop to be the source of the alarm and 3 masked men were loading boxes into a light blue van parked out front. Vita slowly approached the men, making no effort to hide in the shadows. One of them noticed her coming towards them and got the attention of the other two. The men loaded their boxes into the back of the van and quickly turned their attention to the approaching superhero, or in their eyes the crazy chick in the silly outfit.
The Pink Mist: “Everything ok here?”
She said with her hands behind her back, her fist tightly clenched around her pink steel batons.
Man 1: “Why don’t you just get lost before something bad happens?”
Vita continued to walk towards them despite the warning.
The Pink Mist: “Bad? Like what?”
She said as a sly smile crept onto her face.
Man 2: “Hey, wait a minute... I know you!
Vita quickly threw one of her batons at the criminals head!
Man 2: That’s Vit… *CRACK!!* Ugh!”
The baton cracked him right in the face and dropped him to his knees. The other two men were momentarily caught off guard by the sudden attack on their compadre but quickly regrouped and turned their attention back to Vita.
Man 1: “GET HER!”
Both men pulled guns out from their belts and began firing at Vita. Vita tossed her other baton at one of the men, knocking the gun out of his hand. She then rushed the other, taking two rounds point-blank in the chest in the process. Vita dropped to the ground gasping for air as the 3 men recollected themselves and sped off in the van.
The sound of sirens called out in the distance. No doubt the gunshots attracted the police if not the alarm itself. Vita unzipped her jacket revealing a bulletproof vest as she breathed a sigh of relief. She pulled herself up off of the cold ground and scurried down a darkened alley. She fired off her grappling gun and shot up to the roof of a nearby building just as the police neared the scene of the crime.
Sometime Later | Vita’s Personal Gym / Residence |
A window on the second floor squeaked as it slid open. A small petite figure climbed through the window one leg at a time.
The Pink Mist: “That could’ve gone better…”
She removed her mask and jacket in the darkness. Afterward, she flicked the switch to turn on the lights of her bedroom. She looked at her reflection in her dresser mirror. The two black slug marks on her chest were surrounded by red inflamed skin. Suddenly her eyes lit up as she remembered…
Vita Valenteen: ”CRAP!!”
Her batons, she had left them behind!
Vita Valenteen: ”Fingerprints!”
Could they possibly lift and print and link me to the crime!? She wondered to herself.
She wore gloves when on the streets just for that reason, but she couldn’t shake the thought that she may have carelessly left a print on them from before she had gone out for the night.
Suddenly there was a knock at the front door. Vita’s heart began to race. How could she be so careless? Ruby had warned her that her reckless ways would be her undoing, and now here she was with cops banging on her door!
More knocking, this time followed by a deep males voice.
Cop: “NYPD, open up!”
Panicked, Vita grabbed her mask and jacket before slipping out the same window she came in. Now on the roof, Vita moved in for a closer look, and sure enough, two police cruisers were parked outside of her gym.
Vita Valenteen: ”...crap...” She whispered to herself.
In this moment, she knew that there was only one thing to do. She needed to clear her name. To do that, she would have to catch the men responsible for the break-in. Just the thought of it all was so very daunting. First Micheal Graves planted seeds of distrust between her and Shawn, and now this!? It seems like the theme of the week is frame VV.
Vita Valenteen: ”Awesome...” She sarcastically muttered aloud.
Vita quietly slipped her mask over her face. She then took off across the rooftop, sliding into her jacket along the way. She leaped off the edge and the 20-foot gap between the roof of her building and the next wasn’t much of a task for her to clear. She then ducked behind an HVAC unit to try and figure out her next move.
Judging by tonight, if she was going to take these criminals down, she would need a partner, but with Ruby unavailable she was unsure of who she could rely on…
Maybe Noah would help?
Vita Valenteen: ”Times are tough right now for a lot of people. Jobs all over the world are closing down and cutting employee hours due to decreases in sales and health risk. People are watching helplessly as loved ones fall ill and in some cases, never recover. With everything that is going on in the world today, it almost seems inappropriate to talk about the XWF, but the world is a crazy place right now, and there are no set rules on how to move forward. Should we even continue to run shows in our current climate? That’s not for me to say, but I do know that evil never rests. No matter what is going on in the world, evil people will continue to do evil things, and as the situation grows more dire, that evil has a chance of infecting even those that we once looked to as heroes.”
“Last week on Savage, we saw our current Tag Team Champions come out and denounce the fans. Everything good that they ever did, written off as playing the fans. Telling them what they wanted to hear to get ahead.”
“Listen, I get it. I’m no stranger to pretending to be something you’re not. I spent the better part of the past year acting out and being “vicious” because I lost my faith. I lost hope. After Sara Lacklan defeated me for the third time straight with questionable methods, I no longer saw the benefits of playing by the rules. Instead, I betrayed myself and everything that I had ever stood for to, in my mind, level the playing field.”
“To fight fire with fire, if you will.”
“It wasn’t my best choice, heck, not even a good one. Not only did my sudden willingness to cheat damage my reputation, but it also sent a bad and untrue message to all of the little ones who look up to me that it’s cool to break the rules if doing so might get you ahead.”
“I’ve learned my lesson, or maybe I’m still learning it as we speak, but I have rediscovered myself, and I have rediscovered my faith that good can and will overcome evil.”
“That’s a lesson that our Tag Champs will learn sooner or later…”
“It was last week when Chris Page and Robert Main came out on Savage and stated that everything about them up to that point was fake. Every show of sportsmanship, every kind remark, everything that had ever endeared them to the hearts of their fans, all BS.”
“The new them was the real them, and the real them was all about them.”
“They would continue on about how they are the future of this business, despite one of them nearing a half a century on this planet, and the other one just looking like it. They’ve willingly become monsters because they felt overlooked, left behind, and undervalued.”
“I get it, I really do, but I’m telling you right now guys, the path that you’re on is not the way. Robert Main and Chris Page are both phenomenal talents. Robert has secured record breaking reigns as both Hart and Tag Team Champion, and he nearly toppled the record for the longest reigning Universal Champion, missing the mark by a mere seven days.”
“Chris Page, a former World Champion himself, has also seen some success since his return. On top of his recent Tag Championship win with Robert, Page also managed to snag up awards in 2019 for being a locker room leader, being in the hottest feud, and being the most dastardly of bad guys. When him and Robert came together, it seemed as though Page might have found his way to the light, but it seems that instead, his darkness has consumed Robert.”
“Now I find myself set to stand across the ring from these guys. My partner, someone completely unknown to me. We have no chemistry, no history, no plan, but we do have a common goal in this particular match. I seek to bring bad people to justice, and to save anyone I can along the way. Vanessa Gibson seems to be content with just shoving her fist into dudes faces and proving that anything THEY can do, WE can do better! Whatever her motivations, I’m sure that she will be more than happy to bring the fight to you guys next week!”
“Win or lose, hopefully, we can work together and show you boys that cheating isn’t the answer, being a prick isn’t the answer, but working hard and setting an example is the answer!”
“The question?”
“How to be remembered as one of the best of all time.”
“Afterall, that’s what this is all about. That’s where the hostility and definiteness come from. Trust me, I know…”
“I also know that a good role model can shine the light of truth into your eyes at such a blinding intensity, that you have no choice but to face it and accept it.”
“Hopefully I can be that role model for you guys.”
“Hopefully I can set that example.”
“Hopefully you won’t ignore the message.”
