.::THE STORY SO FAR::.

So, a few weeks ago VV was at a beach party. She found a lamp in the sand that looked very much like the typical genie lamps featured in film and television. VV took the lamp home because it was cool, but never expected it to have any magical powers. So imagine her surprise when she rubbed the lamp and a genie did in fact come out?

Her first wish was wasted through her non belief. She received nothing more than a vanilla ice cream cone. Surly had she known this was all real, she would have at least wished for chocolate.

Anyway, her next wish served her better as she wished for happiness and confidence in everything that she did. Happiness was never much of a problem for VV. She's a pretty cheerful person, but confidence, that was something that sure could use the boost. Now, with one wish left, one must wonder what's next in the adventures of VV?

Well, you're about to find out!

------------------------------------------------------------

”This week I have opted to defend the Xtreme title on Savage. Why? It’s a two part reason, and unlike some people. I’m fine explaining both. Firstly, ratings are down for Savage. That’s a problem that had become increasingly more worrisome as the reign of Jenny Myst, and the Pink Perfection editions of Savage went on. Savage, a once great show, was ran down to the point that the network actually preempted it for a while. Even now, with Myst removed from power, Savage struggles to find the audience that it lost. Now I know what you’re thinking, but you’re wrong. My ego isn’t so big that I think that I can single handedly bring the audience back to Savage, but I do know that featuring championship matches like the one that we’re in this week goes a long way in drawing interest to the product. So here I am, readying to face a newcomer in the ring of combat with the Xtreme Championship on the line, all for the hope that it helps secure Savages spot on Saturday Nights.”

“The other reason is because without challenge, you fail to grow as a person. Lux, you’re right when you say that I don’t know you, I don’t get you, and I don’t understand your motivations. What you fail to realize is that I don’t need to know or understand what you’re about. I’ve defended this championship against all comers since winning it. I managed to have the ring awareness to not lose it when APEX defeated Jessalyn and me for the Tag Titles. I managed to hold onto it when Dillinger D’Marco faced off against me last week, and I have managed to hold onto it despite all of the dirty sneak attacks that have come my way in the Xtreme hallway. Altogether, I have successfully held onto this championship through twelve defenses. Ironically my match against you will be my thirteenth. An unlucky number for some, but not for me. I don’t believe in luck or fate. I don’t believe that the future is predetermined, and that we are faced only with the option of following the predetermined path set out before us. I believe that each and every person has the ability to set their own path, and when two people's paths intertwined like ours, it comes down to a battle of wills.”

“So, is your will strong enough to defeat mine? That’s not for me to say. What I can say is that so far, I have proven that I have the will to win. The will to carry on and fight the good fight. I’ve dreamt of this moment my entire life. The chance to not only wrestle for XWF, but to succeed, to become a legend. I wish for my name to be remembered long after I’m gone. I long to stand in the hall of legends and be welcomed not as a fan, not as a visitor, but as an equal. To achieve that goal, I can’t allow myself to falter. I can’t afford such luxuries as fear, especially of the unknown. You claim that I haven’t a clue what you truly are. You say that it’s not the boy that stands before me, but something… else. I believe you, and that’s why I’m prepared for you. Sure, I may not know who or what you are, but as a fan of this sport and as a competitor, I’ve seen all types. Small girls with the strength of ten men, old men with mystical powers to take them straight to the top, deranged psychopaths who made a career relieving others of their manhood, demons, angels, and everything in between.”

“I get it, you think that you’re special, that you have an ace hidden up your sleeve with whatever strange secret that you are carrying so close to your chest, and that’s good. You should feel special because you are, we all are in our own way, but it’s not because of some supernatural power, or tragic time traveling backstory. Those things are a dime a dozen in this wacky world. So, how do I prepare for something that I don’t understand? Easy-peasy. I just treat you like I do all of my opponents. See, I know that some people take a look at the booking sheet and see a name they don’t know, or a name that they know to be lessor, and they laugh it off as an easy win. They don’t do the work, and sometimes it bites them in the butt.”

“See Chris Chaos vs Calypso.”

“Not me though. I treat every opponent as if I’m facing the toughest competitor that the XWF has to offer. If I didn’t, there would be no way I survived as long as I have in this company. Just look at me, I’m short, weak, and young. Yet I find a way to defeat people, mostly men twice my size. I use what I have. I train my butt off to the point of exhaustion, and I use what I do have to the best of my ability. I know what you must be thinking right now. I’m wise beyond my years. I’ve heard it before. It’s a compliment geared towards my work ethic inside of that ring. People have taken notice of the fact that I bust my hump day in and day out just to move up the ladder here one rung at a time. What most people don’t consider is that I appear wise because I have no choice but too. Every match that I’m booked in is an exercise in my desire to be the best me that I can be. I fight every fight with every fiber of being that I have. So for you to think that you hold some sort of advantage just because you hold some secret about yourself that somehow makes you better than what you appear is laughable, because because everyone I’ve faced, everyone I’ve beaten has held some sort of advantage over me, and it mostly hasn’t mattered.”

“So go ahead and hold onto your secret. As odd as it may sound, I truly hope it serves you well. You’re just trying to start a career here just like me, but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to let you run through me. Nor does it mean that I’m not going to do everything in my power to prepare for the unpreparable. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t matter if you can crap lightning bolts out of your butt, if there is a way to defeat you once that bell sounds, I’ll find it. Maybe it’s your feeble body, maybe it’s your lack of experience, or maybe it’s the very secret that you hold so dear that will be your undoing. Whatever the case may be, just know that I’m not coming to lose, and for a guy who claims he wants me to live, it’ll be hard for you to win, because to do that, you’ll likely have to kill me!”

.::CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!::.

VV was bored. Normally on the move and traveling throughout the world with the XWF and LFL, VV found herself with something that she hadn’t had too much of in the last six months… Free time. The unfortunate part of this newfound time to herself is that she didn’t have any meaningful way to spend it. Television wasn’t something that VV ever had much interest in outside of watching her favorite stars compete in the XWF, so binging on some TV show was out of the question. Jessica had gone back to New York to attend college, and Jessalyn had decided to take some time to herself after dropping the Tag Team titles to APEX. This meant that VV was all alone in a hotel room in Idaho of all places. She was here for the upcoming Savage where she would defend her Xtreme Title against newcomer Lux. She was here so early because, well she really didn’t have much else going on.

”I’m soooooo bored!”

VV whined as she fell face first into her bed and laid their motionless. Bob, the genie that she had released from a lamp that she had found on the beach during a party in Mexico City looked up from his news paper. His reading glasses pushed down to the tip of his nose.

”You could always wish for something fun to do.”

”I’m not wasting my last wish!”

VV replied in a muffled voice.

Bob sat there for a few seconds contemplating the situation. After a moment he folded the newspaper and sat it on the stand next to his chair. He then removed his glasses and stood up.

”How about we go out and do something?”

VV hesitated to respond, but when she did, it was with the same muffled voice as before.

”Like what?”

”I don’t know, how about we go out and get some dinner?”

VV lifted her head up and responded without looking back.

”I can’t take you out, you’d draw too much attention.”

”Silly girl, I’m a genie, I can look however I wish.”

POOF!

The sound was almost like a silent explosion. The sudden silent pop of an unknown force.

”So, how do I look?”

VV turned around and her eyes travelled the length of him as he adjusted his shirt and collar with a smile. For a moment she was genuinely lost for words.

”Wow!”

Was all that she could muster.

”I’m glad you approve.”

”Um, how did you know?”

VV responded after recovering her wits.

”This may be my first visit to your world in a very long time, but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m observant. I’ve seen you swooning over pictures of him on your phone. It took little to deduce that this would be a form that you would find quite pleasing.”

VV sat there silently for a moment. Her gaze focused on the gorgeous man standing in front of her.

”This is surreal.”

Was the only thing that VV could think to say. Bob smirked in response, knowing that he had chosen his human form wisely.

”Well, are you going to get ready?”

VV sprung off of the bed and struck a cute pose, slightly skewed to one side, knees bent, and arms out to her sides like a cross.

”Can’t you just use your magic to make me pretty?”

Bob looked to the ground and smiled. VV found it surprising that her genie seemed to be genuinely blushing.

”You don’t need magic for that.”

VV couldn’t help but swoon at the sincere line. Light on her feet, she fled to the bathroom to change. After a while she finally emerged. Dressed in a black skin tight dress that came halfway down her thighs and a silk scarf draped over her shoulders and loosely wrapped around her arms. Bob stood to attention seemingly mesmerized by the beauty of the girl standing before him. VV of course noticed the look on his face and misread it.

”I look silly don’t I?”

Bob smiled a slight smile as he slowly walked towards her, placing his hands gently on each shoulder.

”You couldn’t possibly look more stunning if I dressed you myself.”

VV blushed, forgetting for a moment that Bob isn’t actually James Raven she said.

”I’ve always dreamt of this moment.”

”For all the time that I have spent locked away in that lamp, I am pleased to see that beauty is a constant. Does it bother you, knowing that your beauty will fade? That your looking glass will, day by day, tell you a long and unhappy story, one that will only end with your eventual death?”

VV stood there, jarred by the thought. What a bummer she thought to herself, but wrote it off as Bob not having much interaction with people through his life.

”Well, I mean, that’s life, right? It happens to all of us, like it or not.”

”It doesn’t have to, Bob said as the beginnings of another smile began forming around his lips. Ask! Ask and see what happens. Ask for an end to change, an end to decay. Wish to be beautiful forever and I will make it so!”

VV gazed into Bob’s eyes. His words were like honey. As if in a trance, she repeated the words he had suggested.

”I wish to be beautiful forever”

She breathed softly.

”Your wish is my command.”

A low rumbling echo, audible only to her, roared in the background as Bob smiled wickedly. VV stood there, unable to move anything but her eyes. Her body tingled for a moment as her physical form faded away. Eventually all that was left was her soul, represented as a ghostly hologram with a blue tinge. VV tried to shriek in horror, but quickly realized she no longer had a voice.

”Three wishes offered and three wishes received. Now my dear, you’re soul belongs to me!”

Bob opened his mouth wide like a snake. His eyes glowed a dark red tint and he inhaled. The force was like nothing she had ever experienced. VV was quickly sucked into the mouth of Bob. Her soul lost forever to this evil jinn.

Or was it?
