A week had passed, and Vita had come up short. You can blame the lack of assistance on Covid related travel restrictions and social separation all you want, but Vita knew that most people thought she was crazy. They couldn’t understand why she would want to be a superhero. Especially considering the fact that she was just a spunky 18 year old kid who didn’t complete high school. She didn’t have any super powers like Calvary, nor was she a great tactician like Ruby. So why was Vita risking her life to police the streets of New York and why would anyone want to help her?

She doesn’t blame them. She understood the risk she took every time she went out as The Pink Mist and interfered in some villains scheme, but the thing was, she had been acting like a brat all year. She had gone “bad” because she had lost faith in the ideal of good defeating evil. She had convinced herself that she needed that edge, she needed to fight fire with fire. If nobody else respected the rules, then why should she?

Then came Ruby, a fellow Canadian who played by the rules and won when she defeated the evil queen of Anarchy, Sarah Lacklan for the Anarchy Championship, and then went on to repeat that success in a rematch that sent Sarah packing from the brand entirely. Now while it may have been true that when Vita first donned the mask to team up with Ruby, all the superhero stuff was more or less a joke to her, but the more that they go to know each other, the more Vita began to listen.

Ruby had proven that good can overcome evil, and in doing so she also broke the grip that the dark side had on Vita. Something that Ruby said leading into that final encounter with Lackan really hit home with VV.

Ruby: “This forest may have burned down. But I’m here to take care of it. Planting new seeds and giving new life a chance. And once I’m finished, this will grow into a mighty forest.“

Ruby: “There are new beginnings all around us.”

Ruby’s words caused Vita to realize that she could change and Ruby’s actions made her want to. Not for fanfare, not because it would give her some sort of an advantage, but because doing so would be her being true to herself.

April 26th 2020 | Around midnight

A back alley in New York. It seems that most of the seediness in this city happened down some darkened alley. At least it used to. Now the criminals walk freely down the street. They show up on your television as reality TV stars. They invade and infect every level of the political systems. They help shape the laws of their lands, and rig the system to favor them and their ilk, leaving the rest of us to fight over crumbs.

But in this case the criminals are small time, and in turn they work out of a back alley entrance to a nightclub. A Club that is currently closed due to pandemic restrictions.

Vita peers down to the men below. They are without their mask now, but Vita is convinced that they are the same men from last week. She had followed them here after a string of similar robberies around the city.

Two of the men head into the building, leaving the third to watch the door.

oO(I’m outnumbered 3 to 1 that I know of. Who knows how many more are inside? I need to approach this intelligently. Make a plan, maybe slip in undetected and gather evidence. Let the police do the hard work?)

The Pink Mist: “Eat Defeat ASS-BUTT!!”

She cried out just before her feet crashed into the thugs face!

Now safe on the ground, Vita grabbed the thug and zip tied his hands behind his back.

oO(Now what? If I go through the door, there’s no telling what’s waiting on the other side.)

Vita took pause to examine her options.

oO(This sure would be easier with backup, but everyone is either on lockdown or just unwilling to help. It’s fine though, I’m a big girl. I can take care of myself.)

Vita examined the alley, looking for another way in.

oO(That window is open. Maybe I could use my grappling gun to...)

Suddenly the unguarded door swung open. The two men from earlier were now face to face with Vita. Their eyes locked, both parties caught off guard by the other's sudden appearance.

The Pink Mist: “I don’t suppose you’re going to come quietly?”

She said with an innocent smile as the two men looked at each other confused.

Man 1: “Get her!”

oO(That voice, it is them!)

The men drew their guns, but before they could use them Vita sprung into action, kicking the gun out of the first man's hands with a roundhouse. At the completion of the spinning kick, Vita tossed a baton that flew right past the head of the first man and hit the guy behind him square in the nose. Upon impact he dropped his guy and cried out from the pain as blood gushed out of his nose.

Man 2: “Jesus Christ, she fucked my nose AGAIN!”

Vita leapt forward to subdue the other thug. In an act of desperation, the man started to throw wild untrained punches at her, but Vita was able to dodge each of them almost effortlessly. With each failed attempt, the man’s punches grew weaker and weaker, until finally Vita saw an opening and latched on and quickly restrained him with an Octopus Hold.

Sometime passed before the police showed up, but when they did, they found the three men zip tied together just outside the building. Pinned to the first man’s jacket was a note. It explained that these men were the ones responsible for the string of burglaries across the city, and even contained an SD card containing footage of their first encounter with The Pink Mist last week.

While New York’s finest struggled with the idea of a real life vigilante “superhero” running around the city, a dark figure looked on from the rooftop above.

VVOMEN

Vita Valenteen: ”Okay guys, before we get to all that “mean” talk, I feel like I need to address the elephant in the room.”

Vita huffed out a sigh as her stance relaxed.

Vita Valenteen: “Two years ago, I introduced myself to the XWF Universe as a person who respected the rules, and occasionally yeah, my moral stances may have cost me a match or two, but I never let that shake me. I’d always get back up and push forward, ever vigilant in my quest to become one of the best, and do it without breaking the rules!”

Vita smiled slightly as she thought back to simpler times.

Vita Valenteen: “That girl was pretty cool. You know what’s not cool? Feeling like you have to be someone you’re not in order to get ahead or be taken seriously. Take it from me. I not only betrayed all of my fans when I accepted Shane

’s money, but I betrayed myself. When I attacked Centurion and Maverick at XX, I put a black mark on my career that I will never be able to erase. A full year of breaking rules and mocking the sport. Letting my parents down. My friends… ”

Agitated with herself, Vita huffs as her tone becomes more judgemental.

“And do you know why I took his money in the first place?”

“Because I felt like following the rules wasn’t getting me anywhere. It seemed that the liars and the cheaters were always getting away with so much crap, and I had a moment of weakness. I said screw it! If everyone else can get away with being a bunch of cheating pricks, then I’ll just start doing it too!”

“So yeah, I understand why two guys might be lured towards the side of “evil”. Cataclysm, you guys aren’t the first to find themselves frustrated with their position on the card, or the number of title shots they do or don’t get, lack of respect they perceive from fans and coworkers alike. Heck, every few years Peter Gilmour has a massive weight change and or magically attracts some famous new wife. They always think that these huge changes are what they need to rejuvenate their careers, earn their respect, get that title shot.”

“I get it, because I once thought that way too, but I totally can’t wrap my head around why a Robert Main or a Chris Page would feel the need to change everything about themselves.”

“C’mon Robert, you have done nothing but dominate this company since you came in! The undefeated singles streak? The record setting Hart Championship run? Your Universal reign was only a few days shy of being the longest reign in company history! And you did all of that while being a good guy!!”

“Okay, maybe not good persay, but you weren’t a monster. You didn’t want to cause harm to people just to compensate for your insecurities over not regaining the Universal Championship.”

“In short, much like myself, you have a choice Robert. You can wear the scary mask, listen to the voices and let them control you, or you seek help and be true to yourself. Whatever personal demons you’re dealing with, deal with them, the right way, because if you don’t, a day may come where you look back and are ashamed of some of the things that you’ve done!!”

“Trust me...”

“As far as you Chris Page, listen, I’m sure somewhere deep down you aren’t a bad guy, but more importantly than that, do you really want your final years in the wrestling business to be remembered for how you began hearing voices and playing the crazy card? I’d think that a guy that’s been around for as long as you have would know just how poorly that usually works out for people. Just look at Micheal Graves, another masked muppet who claims to listen to voices. Despite anything else he ever achieved, all people think about now-a-days is how Micheal went crazy and tried to twiddle little girls. Do you really want to take the chance of these voices turning you into some pedo freak? Is that the legacy that you’re trying to leave behind?”

“Same for you Robert, really think about that. You team with the guy right when all that stuff went down. You more than anyone should know the dangers to the path you’re on!! Besides, like I said, you guys are both sure-in Hall of Legends as is. What you’re doing now does nothing for your legacies.”

“As for my partner, since you Chris were quick to question it on Twitter. How can I trust her to watch my back after she admitted that she was backstage at Warfare?”

“Easy, I don’t!!”

“Good thing she isn’t here to watch my back! She’s here to prove that anything a man can do, she can do better, and what better way to make that statement than to cut short the reign of the most dominant male tag team in the XWF today!? From what I’ve seen and heard, Vanessa is more than capable of taking care of herself, and I’m no stranger to the tag division myself.”

“You guys are so convinced that VVomen are getting served up to you, and why? Because you hear voices in your head? Because you wear scary mask and beat people up? I think that you guys somehow believe all that crap gives you an edge, but let me tell ya, it doesn’t.”

“Not in the slightest.”

“Need I remind you that the XWF has a wide assortment of aliens, demigods, supermen, demons, and every sort of impossible challenge that you could possibly dream up, and I’ve beaten quite a few of’em. So what’s so scary about the two of you?”

“Maybe it’s Cataclysm that’s getting served up to the newest team on the block? After all, you’re the ones so upset with THINK you don’t have, that you’re willing to change everything about yourselves in order to get it. That doesn’t make you look strong boys. Quite the contrary actually. Ruby has shown me real strength, and Cataclysm isn’t it.”

“As for you Vannessa, I happen to like hot pink AND kicking butt. If you’re really all about womanhood, then stop judging your fellow women based off of preconceived stereotypes, and instead celebrate each of our individuality as we all fight to find our place in this world!! Besides, we both have more important things to concern ourselves with.”

“We don’t need to agree, and we don’t need to be friends, all we need to do is take down a common enemy!”

“Afterwards we can have a little talk about those men you injected. I’m sure you didn’t REALLY do that, right?
