Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name.

Ok, it's John, I guess it wasn't very hard. In seriousness I'd like to introduce myself. I have been into e-wrestling for quite some time now. I've actually hung it up on a few occasions, but the itch always gets back to me, I always wind up missing the back and forth of a good match or a fun feud. Every time I think I'm out, it drags me back in. My old fed died after a lengthy illness, so I'm looking to get back into the swing of things, though I must admit I am somewhat set in my ways and have an affinity for the particular playstyle I grew up with, so to speak. Finding similar practitioners is getting more and more difficult as time goes on, and I'm starting to accept that I need to evolve or give it up for good, but hopefully you'll forgive me if I'm a little out of step with how this place operates at first. It seems like a good match to me on the surface, but of course I won't know until I start tangling with somebody in the ring.

So, hello.

JMW

Welcome to the fed, John. The community is a positive one (or it tends to be), so you should have no problem fitting right in. And if you need help with something, feel free to drop a line with anybody, we'd be happy to help.

Welcome mate. Awesome picbase.

I came here after not rping for several years, and I can tell you unreservedly that XWF loves different styles. There is no one 'XWF style'. That's what makes this place great. Don't change a thing unless it's totally organic, bring what's YOUR game.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I am a little unclear on the logistics of how cards work. Is a Wednesday dated card posted on Monday and then you have two days to post? Are winners determined purely by RP quality or is there some simming? This is all pretty basic stuff, I know, but I don't see a rules/faq post anywhere, so I'm not entirely sure how things work around here.

Usually you'll have 6-7 days to RP for a card.

We have three shows.

Monday Madness - 2 rp limit show. You can only do ONE rp on the last day. Unrated as far as I know. Randall Cross runs this show, but will occasionally have people from the roster Guest GM the show.

Wendesday Warfare - 2 rps per day limit show, 14 for the total week max. Currently transitioning into a rated show. This thread will give you details on what is and isn't allowed in RPs: http://xwf99.com/showthread.php?tid=197 Myself and Wallace Witasick are the GMs of this show.

Saturday - 2 rps per day limit show, 14 for the total week max. This show is unrated, and I believe is leaning more towards a risque format. Shane oversees this show.

All RPs across all three shows are suggested to be 2000 words maximum in length. That's only a suggestion though. The average I usually see around here is 2500. A lot of guys go beyond that number and score really well though.

Matches are judged through roleplay quality. I think every judge has a different system.

The big thing that we're trying to avoid is out-of-character content being included in in-character sections. We had that problem a couple of weeks ago with OOC content being in RPs, and it hurt us pretty bad.

The title scene is a bit confusing at the moment, but I'm hoping that it gets cleared up soon. I do believe that each show will have its own top title though.

Not sure what else I'm missing. Let me know if you have more questions!

We're transitioning into a system where cards will be able to be booked weeks in advance. We just moved to new boards so I still have to bring over a few of the "rules/faq" type posts but the section you'll want to keep an eye on for that is the "announcements and important info" section. ALL of the rules and other important aspects about RPing guidelines, sending attacks or counter attacks, etc... will all end up there within the next few days.

If you visit our calendar you will be able to see which shows are already booked and you can click on them to see what matches are there. There's also a link to upcoming shows in the upper right corner of the index.

With you being on Warfare, I'd recommend submitting some kind of segment to introduce your character on this Wednesday's show. From there you'd get booked in your official debut match the following Wednesday and can show us what you've got!

Winners are determined solely on the quality and entertainment value of their work for their entire week.

Quantity is not a factor in determining winners, so even if someone types a significant amount more than their opponent it won't matter.

Quality is something the XWF stresses and outweighs quantity immensely

Thanks for all the answers, folks, that clears everything up. And I'm glad to hear quality is significantly favoured over quantity. I've been in a lot of places where it seems like you just have to churn out a couple of hundred extra words of fluff, just because it's the only way to win, and then nobody feels like reading 2000 word walls of text every day and activity winds up dying. I'm not afraid of a big post, but sometimes you can say a lot more with less. Peter Jackson, take note. :p

Yeah, we had a quantity based guy a couple of months ago who didn't last long at all. This guy would do 15000 words and lose to a guy with 2000.

Point is, you could write a 500 word rP with a really engaging story and beat a guy with a 5k word RP and a boring story... I think you get it though...
