To say dinner was tense was an understatement. Nova’s hand gripped Zak’s thigh to try and keep the vampire calm as the elderly woman at the head of the table talked on about the family.
It’s just amazing how both my grandchildren have grown and taken lovers. Is it true what I’ve heard, Zak?
What have you heard, Grandmama?
That you’ve taken your lovers daughter as your heir. Surly, I have hoped that it is a lie and you take one of your sister’s children as your heir.
Zak’s hand gripped the crystal glass as he took a drink, Nova’s hand rubbed Zak’s upper thigh, hoping to distract the vampire but it did nothing, Zak was too wound up to even get turned on at this point.
No. I’ve taken Lila as my heir.
The woman scoffed and took a drink of her wine, And if it doesn't work between you and Azrael?
This time, Nova stiffened and his nails dug into Zak’s thigh, “With all due respect, Lady Castile, what happens in our relationship has nothing to do with you.
You are marrying my grandson, Azrael. It becomes my business when and if you break his heart.
Than you should know my intentions are not to do anything of the sort. I love Zak and this union into marriage we plan to embark on, is to celebrate that as such. So please, refrain from assuming the worst.
Nova’s eyes flashed and Zak leaned in, Calm down. I need you calm.
A chuckle floated from Radio, forcing the couple to look up at the alien, Do you find something amusing, Michael?
Nothing at all.
Micah looked over, her eyes flashing in warning just as the door opened and Thomas walked in.
Thomas, do you need any help? I’m sure Zak would have no problem helping you serve.
Nova’s eyes snapped to Zak, whose restraint just snapped. Zak’s chest rose and fell as he took quick breaths, trying to calm himself down.
What’s the matter Zak? Having issues?
Zak’s eyes snapped to Micah, who sat there with a smirk and dark humor in her eyes. Their grandmother didn't help much as she waited for Thomas’s answer.
No, milady, I have no need for a footman tonight.
Micah laughed softly and that did it. Zak stood just as Thomas left. His eyes black as the night sky as he stared at his sister.
Enough! I grow tired of your sick games, sister. Just because you’ve managed to keep Radio playing along doesn’t mean I have to anymore!
The room grew cold and Micah slowly stood, her eyes matching her brothers, You always have and always will be beneath me in these social times, Zak. You're even dragged a powerful man down with you. It must hurt knowing that.
Zak’s demonic growl was the only warning Micah got before he shot across the
table, catching his sister around the throat and rolling around on the floor. Radio and Nova both stood and watched the siblings fight as Lady Castile just sat there, eating her soup.
These are your lovers, gentlemen. I suggest you stop them before blood stains my hard wood.
The two aliens moved to the two fighting vampires and pulled them apart; Radio, holding Micah around her waist and Nova, holding Zak’s head against his chest. Both vampires were already bloody and littered with scratched across their faces.
I think it’s time we left, Zak.
Is running the only thing your good at, Azrael?
Nova looked over at Micah, You shut it and you shut it good. I don't have the time or patience, for your lies or your mouth currently. However, do not think that means I won't be fully prepared to deal with you later.
The alien and vampire vanished, only to appear in their living room a minute later.
Zak was still shaking from rage in Nova’s arms but Nova didn't let him go.
I think I need to leave this place and it is very apparent, that you need to leave as well. No good can come from remaining here.
Zak just whimpered and shook violently, his face buried in Nova’s chest.
