From Ruby’s Go-Pro…

Superheroes need to work out too! After all, field exercise doesn’t always provide the optimal situation for self-improvement. One on one situations are great, but sometimes all a girl needs to do is go one on one with a set of weights, or in this case: a giant tire.

The banana-lime blur was digging deep, trying to flip the tire that was nearly twice her size.

Ruby: “Up you go!”

Squirming, her entire body tried to lift it up. She had always possessed a wiry kind of strength, one that allowed her to hit harder than most of her opponents suspected. And while her in-ring style didn’t usually call for raw power, a bit of extra functional strength was always more than welcome when being ganged up on. And that had been happening way too much as of late. Because while the THUGS had been sent back to the end of the line after John Black’s defeat, they were hardly the only super group (or what had to pass for it) on Anarchy, let alone the XWF.

Ruby nearly collapsed under the weight, but through sheer power she managed to get the tire up vertically, before pushing it until it tipped over. With a mighty slam that rocked the entire gym, the massive piece of rubber was defeated. Ruby was heaving due to exhaustion. Her stamina was excellent, but these kinds of feats of strength weren’t exactly her specialty. Guys like Big Money Oswald could probably do this one-handed without breaking a sweat, but he wasn’t a wiry girl that barely reached 5’. And that was exactly why she needed to get better. Even now.

Ruby: “Flip me, that’s gonna hurt in the morning.”

Luckily, Centurion was always more than willing to take care of her. It was comforting to know that no matter how bad things got, she always had someone she could count on and had her back. Whether she was fighting the B.O.B., the Left Hand, the THUGS or whatever amalgam of any kind of villainous faction that got put together on the day. Still, he wasn’t going to be in her corner for this one, and he also wasn’t going to be around every single time she needed backup. Next Anarchy was one such moment.

Ruby stared down the tire, like it was a massive challenge in front of her, even if she had just flipped it over. It reminded her of the Brotherhood of Baddies. You could flip ‘em over, defeat them one on one, defeat a few of them, and then defeat some more, but at the end they were still there, lying in wait. Almost mockingly so. Because unless they were defeated as a collective, unless they were shredded into a thousand tiny pieces that were unable to become whole again, their threat was always lurking, and the prospect of having to face them one more time was always there.

Ruby shook her head. She’d come her to CLEAR her head and focus on working out, not give the B.O.B. more reason to justify their own self-inflated egos. She had to take things one step at the time and trust the process. And the next step was teaming up with Solace Tatum to face The Hammer and The Hunteress. Oh, and proving to Dean Rose that, yes, in fact, she DID know a lot of stuff about Scotland. After that? The Multi-universal Championship.

Solace seemed like a good egg, if a bit emotional. She was relatively new, and it was clear that she still had to learn how to not get her emotions get the best of her. It was a difficult lesson to learn, but an essential one, because everybody makes mistakes when they’re not thinking straight. Ruby’s experiences inside this crazy world of wrestling had taught her that. Solace had put up a valiant effort at March Madness, and she had actually taken the Billion Dollar Championship, which was impressive; even if it was just a bauble that Oswald had awarded himself because he apparently couldn’t win legitimate championships the right way. Now, even his precious toy belt was gone, and she applauded her newest taggie for having not just the guts to accept that challenge, but actually pulling It off. It was sure to bring the wrath of a lot of people down on her. Ruby realized she was going to need some help. And she was going to give it to her, if at all possible. But first, they needed to take on The Misfits. Easier said than done. Ruby looked into the Go-Pro, still slightly panting.

Ruby: “Ayyy, ish ya girl Rubes here, training to take down the bad guys! I know what you’re thinking! Really Rubes, a gym environment? Heck of an original setting! Not really original, but it’s definitely the origin setting. This is where it all begins. Any proper wrestler starts here to learn, hone and perfect their craft. The ring is just where we specialize. And my specialty? It’s taking down the bad guys!
Now, these Misfits are in our way. And I’ve got no grand quarrel with them, but the heroes can always do with another W. Although I really think that ‘The Hammer and The Hunteress’ sounds way cooler than ‘Misfits’. You should change your name to that! Like Ant-Man and the Wasp! Batman & Robin. That always sounded better than Dynamic Duo. But seriously, Solace and I are coming to put the Hammer down, and turn the Hunteress into the Hunted. Ye be warned.”

Ruby winked, and looked back down at the tire, which was still lying there. Everything was aching. She didn’t really WANT to do any more flips (of this kind, at least). The easy path was humble and safe. But paid the wage of a clerk, not a champion. So like Lil’ Jon advised, she got low, determined to flip that tire from the window to the wall.
