I remember when
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that space
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space

“Chi Chi Chi Ah Ah Ah………Chi Chi Chi Ah Ah Ah……"

Everybody has been there. That lump in your throat that you feel when a favorite character that you have grown fond of in a movie is about to die. I mean let’s face it we have all been there….that sheer excitement, that adrenaline rush that you get when the movie is about to reach it’s climax, and either the victim is going to get away…….or the killer is going to catch up to him just in time to off him before the end credits roll. Hey, what about Psycho? That was a great movie…..

But a lot of these movies take from real life. But I am getting ahead of myself. The Chi Chi Chi Ah Ah Ah….if your not a horror fan that is from Friday the 13th. What about the all familiar sound of the decrepit organ playing as Michael is walking, and yet somehow the crazed psycho killer still catches up to his victim. We all get annoyed don’t we. The person is running through the woods, trips and the killer catch’s up to him….and well that is the end of that character….

What makes these characters believable? I have a hint for you……they don’t go around trying to be something that they are not. Most people would describe these deranged monsters as “crazy” or homicidal psychopaths. Jason never strays to far from home, and when he does, he always goes back to his roots. Sure he made be afraid of water, but he always finds a way to make sure that his victims eat his knife.

Michael Myers goes through life at his own pace, and he is never in a rush. Think about it…..what kind of psychopath goes through life, never saying a word…finishing at his own pace, never going to fast or too slow. The type of psychopath that does that is a smart one. See Michael doesn’t get ahead of himself, and he always gets his victim in the end. It’s more menacing for people to assume that you are deranged, than to open your mouth…..and prove people wrong.

The XWF has an assorted group of characters, and for the majority of my tenor here, I have faced the same type of person…….the person who says that they are crazy. I get it…it’s all about character development. You want the audience to believe that you are actually crazy. And you know that for any normal opponent you would throw that opponent off.

See in your head, you figure if you can win the battle mentally, then you already have an advantage over your opponent, because you can throw them off their game, and you can take advantage of that and steal a win. Your opponent doesn’t know what to make of you and they begin to doubt that they want the match to begin with.
If done effectively it can lead to a career longevity, that very few have seen in this business. See strike the right chord of “crazy” keep it fresh….keep it brand new and

I assure you that your opponents for years won’t be able to figure out the combination. Why do you think Roddy Piper always said “just when you think you have the answers, I change the questions.” It was because of the fact that Roddy was an intellectual psycho. He had the fiery Irish temper, and nobody really knew which Roddy that they were going to get.

Or what about Jake Roberts. A cold hearted calculated man, that never had to raise his voice to get his point across, he only had to stare at you menacingly, and calmly tell you what he was going to do to you, while you hoped he didn’t throw his snake on you. These are the people that I grew up reacting with, these are the people that I saw on my TV when I was a little boy and made me want to become a wrestler. And that’s why “crazy” will never work on Gage Gannon.

“That’s why for all of these crazy people, going around skipping, going around trying to look intimidating in their promos I just laugh at them. Because instead of being crazy they are just downright goofy. How many of these pretenders am I going to face week in and week out? I don’t buy that they are crazy, I feel as if they are trying to be something that they aren’t. It’s why I can sent back and I can confidently dissect them apart.”

“It’s why no matter what is happening I can tell you how the story is going to end. Because at the end of the day, as crazy as you claim to be, nobody is crazier than the man that just smirks at his demons…….and hugs them. I don’t have to go around proclaiming that I am crazy, nor do I have to even have the word “crazy” in my name hoping that people will take me seriously…….I just have to show up and do what I always do in any situation, and leave people shocked when I say that I am going to do it.”

“Now, its easy for me to come out here week in and week out, and make bold proclamations and tell you that the voices in my head won’t let me be great, or talk in plural form telling you “WE WANT TO PLAY.” But that get’s old. See I am more of a man of action. I want to show you how crazy I can be. And to be honest with you, the type of matches that I am being put in…..it’s kind of turning me on. Because from Last Man Standing Matches, to hardcore matches, to fighting for the Extreme Championship at Savage, to fighting in a hardcore match…..my demons are clawing at me. And no matter how hard I try to hold them in, the playground with which I am afforded is to much of a lure to cage the beast that is roaming free inside of me………and unfortunately for Carzy Steve……..Carzy just doesn’t cut it when you face a man who has been put through the fire…….

Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you
Who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you’re in control?

“Gage, Gage wake up………”

“Where am I….”

“You are home, you no longer need to pretend…….we want to come out and play…."

(BBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUZZZZZZZZ)

Gage’s alarm clock goes off as he hits it and opens his eyes. Nobody told him that the all night binge he had before was……well going to be all night.

“Well, Well, Well, Good Morning Sunshine….”

“Owww my head it freaking hurts……what was I doing last night?”

“Ummm partying much Mr. Gage Gannon….”

Gage sits up on his bed as he has his head in his hands and he is trying to shake the cobwebs….

“You know you would think that you would get tired of partying so much……especially expecting me to be your caretaker.”

“Oh come on Carmen, that is what I hired you for….”

“Well you have a busy week ahead of you. You have an extreme championship match on Saturday, and next Wednesday you have Carzy Steve…..”

“You are going to need as much rest as possible if you want to co me out victorious in your match.”

Gage gets up from his bed and stretches, as he thinks about the recent string of opponents that he has faced lately. Gage just kind of chuckles to himself and scratches his head as he reflects on the cast of characters that he has faced…..

“You know it never amazes me the cast of characters that I run into with this company. The Collector I am sure is somewhere running his mouth thinking that he has Gage Gannon’s number…..that goof the next time I see him I am going to punch him in the face and make sure he knows his win was a fl…..”

“Patience Gage, every dog has its day. I am sure that you will get your revenge, but for right now you need to focus on the task at hand. You need to focus on what is ahead of you. You have a real opportunity to write the ship and get back on the winning track.”

“Fine then I guess it is time to scout my opponent this week…. Siri pull up video monitor..”

Gage sits in his chair, as Carmen hands him his tablet, and he starts going over the stats of Carzy Steve. After literally five seconds Gage sets the table down and begins to massage his temples as obviously he can’t hide his annoyance…..

“Dear God, please tell me that this is a typo. He calls himself Carzy Steve? Why do they continue to insult my intelligence by putting me in matches with these people who have mental issues…”

“Well I mean, lets be honest, perhaps maybe they find it entertaining when you faced the mentally challenged. I’m sensing a pattern here though, because the last few weeks it’s like you can’t catch a break….”

“Sigh…..my job is never really done.”

Gage get’s up and stretches……as he looks out at the beautiful scenery of his penthouse and enjoys his view. Carmen stares at him admiring him for a brief second as she questions Gage….

“What’s on your mind honey???"

“Tell me are we really as crazy as we believe? What if people who call themselves crazy are really normal, and everybody else is crazy? I’ve always thought what it would be like on the other end of the spectrum. Not a worry, or care in the world…..just living life care free. Sometimes I close my eyes and I imagine myself, obviously I imagine having a lower IQ, but anyway I imagine myself just being able to let go. Not caring about any of my responsibilities…”

Carmen looks around wondering what has gotten into Gage as she just sits silent and lets him continue. Obviously, his well being is of concern to her, and here lately he has been off his rocker a little bit….

“I just….crazy is as crazy does. I mean Carmen could you actually imagine having the intellect of a cockroach…..and just spitting whatever useless drivel that comes to mind out of your mouth? I can’t believe that these people were hired as wrestlers….”

“Perhaps maybe you should humble him…..make him see that he isn’t as crazy as he wants people to believe…”

“But if I do that, that would mean that I am beating up the handic……”

“All is fair in love and war and trust me, I guarantee you that when you are facing this guy there is not going to be any love lost between you. He is going to be coming for blood especially with this being an extreme rules match, so you need to be at your best…”

Gage just looks at Carmen as if he always isn’t at his best…

“There is nothing that is going to keep me from beating Carzy Steve Wednesday…..nothing……”

crazy
[ˈkrāzē]
ADJECTIVE
1. mentally deranged, especially as manifested in a wild or aggressive way.

The scene opens up with Gage standing on the outside of a mental hospital just taking in his surroundings….

“Carzy Steve…….I know that you are probably a little bit slow. I know that you probably have some form of ADHD, or better yet I can probably guarantee that you have spent some of you time at one of these mental facilities. I need your attention for one brief moment. I need you to put down the knives, I need you to focus. I need you to quit you self babbling and I need you to pay attention to the most important sound that you will ever here in your sad pathetic miserable life. And that is the sound of Gage Gannon bestowing his wisdom on you.”

“See your not the first crazy person that I have faced, and I am sure that you won’t be the last. But here is the problem….I listened to your little open challenge a few weeks ago..and DEAR LORD MAN…you were all over the place. You sound like Shaq on steroids…..better yet I would be pleased to offer you some hooked on phonics. Your promo was one of the most incoherent pile of shit that I have ever had to listen to in my dear life. See Stevie I bet you slipped from the same mental asylum as Melanee Childs…hell I wouldn’t be surprised if you were brother and sister.”

“Here’s the problem I already have with you. I know your type, and I know your type very well. You are going to come at me with some bullshit about how much of a psychopath you are in the ring, how you are going to use your weapons and about how you are going to love the pain that you inflict on Gage Gannon….but here’s what I want you to realize. No matter how crazy your goofy ass thinks it is, there is always somebody crazier.’

“I want you to realize Steve that there is literally nothing that you can say, or nothing that you can do that will take me by surprise. See what you fail to realize is, is that I am as sharp as a tact. I will do whatever it takes to win this match. You are crazy by name only. If you want to shock me, then what I want you to do is open your mouth and say something intelligent to Gage Gannon.”

“See unfortunately for you, your ass has already wrote a check that you can’t cash. I’m pissed off because of last Wednesday and honestly I am feeling a little bit crazier than you. So let’s just be honest….I am going to ram your head into the ringpost repeatedly. I am going to make you bleed. And I know that you are probably sitting in your padded room, and I know that somebody as sick as you is probably smiling with the fact that I am going to make you bleed.’

“Here’s what you don’t understand. I’m going to be smiling right along with you. As a matter of fact when I ram your head into the steel ringpost the more you smile, the more I will get that warm fuzzy feeling on the inside of my stomach. Because I know that whatever brain cells that you have left, they are slowly evaporating.”

“See Carzy Steve you may collect souls in the afterlife, but you are going to collect this asswhooping on Wednesday. You think that you are dangerous? Why is that Steve? Because you make some asinine comments and you think that you intimidate somebody? You think that sitting here saying that you are the most dangerous man in the XWF makes it true? You’re a poser. See while you don’t have the mental capacity to understand what I am going to do to you, your body is going to experience a whole new physical capacity of pain. See make no mistake about it Steve I don’t give a damn if you like pain. I don’t give a damn Steve if the more and more I hit you, you get back up. You know what happens when the body is past the threshold of pain that it can withstand? It gives out…”

“See you strike me as a man with a lot of moxie, you strike me as a man that has a lot of spirit. I like that. I want you to keep getting back up. I want you to show me Steve that you aren’t all talk. I want you to show me that you are as crazy as you think you are. I want you to keep getting up time and time again, so that way I can keep knocking you on your ass. I want you to see the rage in my eyes as I look to put you out of your misery.”

“I know you are not going to beg Steve, because as slow as I think that you are, I know that you are not going to give me anything. I welcome the challenge of you trying to hang with me, hell I embrace the challenge. I want you to leave your little shitty gimmick at home, and I want you to bring the real Steve. I’m begging you Steve please show me mow sadistic that you can get.”

“I want my demons to play with your demons. For the time that we are in the match, I want our demons to become best friends. You won’t beat me Steve, I assure you, but maybe you can help me to continue to bring out this venomous side that is festering in me. I want it all Steve. You seem to have this fascination Steve thinking that you can insight nightmares, hell you even say that you like to torture your victims. The difference between me and those other clowns in the back Steve, is that I am nobody’s victim.”

“You will be humbled at my hands Steve and I am going to enjoy the punishment that I dish out to you. After the crappy few weeks that I have had it is going to be therapeutic, hell it is almost going to be orgasmic….my demons are knocking on your door Steve…….asking if your demons can come out to play…..”

"Let them in Steve…….let……them……in……"

The scene ends with Gage closing his eyes and breathing in the fresh air…..
