PREVIOUSLY

With concussion issues Mastermind earlier wrestling career stalled. With his grant money gone he was forced into taking time to work to get his wrestling career going again.

Now after finding a way to get his career restarted, he now has to make the hard decision. Of leaving the girl he just met, for a few months while he gets his life back on track.

And now the continuation.

Late 1996 to early 1997

For the next few months, Mastermind focused on making money from his new found job so he could get funds behind him so he could travel to Australia and Japan, to kick start his career. He knew he couldn't do it in New Zealand, not as long, as the same ass talent kept thinking that he was weak, that he was easy, and that they could control him. No one controls him for long enough.

So after 4 and a bit months of constant work, putting money on the New Zealand stock exchange and choosing the right time to offload it, he finally had the money he needed.

He also spent time getting to know Maria, and things were going well between them. Maria knew what Mastermind wanted, and that was to spend a year going around Australia and Japan, learning how to wrestle properly, for his dream was to end up in the United States one day and make it big over there. But before he could make it big over in the States, he needed to master so to speak his own country.

So one night Mastermind and Maria were sitting down for tea together, nothing had been spoken about Mastermind's trip to Australia for a while now, and they were just enjoying getting to know one another. She knew the time was coming.

"So Maria,"

"Yes 'M',"

"I went and saw your father today,"

"As you do everyday," smiled Maria "He is your boss."

Mastermind laughed "Yes true."

"Go on."

"I gave him my resignation."

Maria looked at Mastermind knowing that this was the time he was going to do it.

"Oh you did?"

"Yes but he didn't accept it,"

"Well," laughed Maria "I guess that was a good thing."

"I guess it was too, but he told me where ever I go in the World he would have contacts for me to go to, set up shop where ever I go so to speak, and keep on working for him."

"He told you that did he?"

"Yes,"

"So that means?"

"He gave a contact to go see when I get to Australia."

Maria stopped eating. She felt like she was getting angry, but she didn't have a right to be angry. It was Mastermind's dream.

"Okay so when are you going?"

"I saw my doctors, he's given me the all clear for my concussion issues and my injuries have finally also cleared up."

"That's great news 'M', really that is. So when are you going?"

Mastermind put his hand on Maria's.

"I really care about you."

"I know you do. I do too. But answer the question, when are you going?"

Mastermind swallowed hard.

"Next week."

Maria got up from the table that they were sitting at, and she walked over to the window. She looked out of it.

Mastermind got up, and followed her to the window.

"I don't know why I am so angry," she said softly "I knew this day would come."

"You're not losing me," replied Mastermind softly "I'm yours if you want me,"

Maria gave a chuckle "Want you? You don't know how badly I want you."

"Oh trust me, if it's as much as I want you, then I'm sure I know how badly you want me."

Maria laughed.

Mastermind turned Maria to face him, and slightly put his hands on her face.

"I think I'm falling in love with you!"

"You think?"

"Sorry, I know I am."

"Well that goes the same with me."

"You can always come with me."

"Now's not the time 'M', we both know that. We haven't even slept together yet."

"But I know I want a future with you."

"I do too. Which is why you need to go and do what you need to do, otherwise you'll regret it for the rest of your life."

"I'm going to stay in touch with you."

"You better," smiled Maria "Because you know I wouldn't be able to stop hearing from you."

Mastermind laughed.

"It's only going to be for a year. You can come and see me, even if it's for a day or two. Or it'll get too hard to be without you."

"We will see."

"Let's get back to our dinner."

"I'm not hungry."

"Okay, so what do you want to do?"

"Go for a walk. Walk in peace without saying anything."

"I can do that."

Mastermind returned to his table, grabbed his gear, as did Maria, and Mastermind paid for the service, and then he held out his hand which Maria took, and they left the restaurant. They then went for a long walk together, without saying anything. Just being together. Which helped a lot. It meant that they wanted to be with each other.

PRESENT DAY

AN HOTEL IN ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA

The camera fades in to an hotel room somewhere in Adelaide, Australia, the final stop on the Australian Tour for Wednesday Night Warfare before moving to New Zealand.

The Television Belt is hung directly in view of the camera.

Mastermind's voice can be heard off camera.

"Oh Peter. I want you to take a good look at that. MY Television Title. The one that has been eluding you your entire XWF Career, and the one that you are never going to get your hands on so you can become a Grand Slam Champion while I still have it.

"Good for you for coming out of the woodwork and giving yourself a slight chance of competing against me. But the key word is a 'SLIGHT' chance.

"For you are the laughing stock of the entire XWF and we all know this. You've alluded to it yourself just in your last promo. Why are you a laughing stock, Peter? You can blame as many things going against you as you want, but the real person to blame is you, yourself.

"If I lose to you one on one, I will become the laughing stock, and there is no way I am going to let that happen, because I control my destiny. You've already stuffed yours up.

"So go on, take a look at it. Take a look up close which you will get a chance to do when we meet at Wednesday Night Warfare, and you get a chance to view my title. It ain't going to go to yours, so take a pretty good look, and even take a pretty good smell. It looks good around my waist and it smells good too."

Mastermind takes the Television Title from the front of the camera, and walks in front of the camera and sits down.

"You are right about one thing Peter. Team situations. Your team somehow was better than my team, and that's saying something, especially since I had people like Gator, and the now current boss of the XWF, Loverboy Vinnie Lane. We should have won that match, but oh no, your team found a way to cheat and win.

"That's what your teams always end doing cheating and winning. Look at your brief time with your tag team reigns. They never last.

"Thank you for giving me props about how good I have become. It doesn't mean squat coming from someone like you, but at least you said it. While I have learned from all my losses and come back stronger, you have constantly been getting worse, and oh by the way. Who the hell is Adam Cole? I've never heard of him. If I haven't heard of him, that means he is a lesser light. Not like your affinity with Kevin Owens. He's great. He could be better.

"So you've gone from someone who can be great to someone not so good? What are you trying to prove Peter? Are you trying to prove to yourself that you can be average? You're not even that average Peter. You may have slimmed down, but even then it goes to show you have to change because you aren't getting your way within the XWF?

"I constantly get shot down when I was on my losing streak. I constantly loss. But did I have change my own appearance to appear like I could have a better chance of snapping the losing streak? No. I worked on myself and became better. And that is why for 120 plus days I have held the Television Championship because hardly anyone who is anyone can take it off of me.

"And you think you've got a chance?"

Mastermind starts laughing, then he stops.

"You make it all damn easy. Funny at the same time. You say your career is winding down. Why don't you take up being a comedian? You have to be better and something, and being a comedian makes you all the more funny."

Mastermind looks at the Television title. Then looks back at the camera.

"For just the second time in singles competition I will beat you again and once again give you a lesson that you need to learn. You won't be getting anywhere close to my belt Peter, and I mean that. You can try, you always can try, but at the end of day, I will go 2 nil up in singles action against you, and if you want to, quickly end your slow down towards the end of your career, because it will be too much of you to handle with having the Television Title oh so close for you to become the one and only first Grand Slam winner of the modern day locker room, and it'll eat you up and kill you that you've lost to me again.

"I had you mastered the first time around. I've still got you mastered. I'm in your head. You've never been in mine. So try to pull the other one over the eyes of unsuspecting Joe public, because they know when you are lying. You lie all the time.

"So one final time. Peter Gilmour. Bring it if you dare, because you aren't that good enough."

With that Mastermind gets up and walks off camera. The camera fades out.
