Sitting in a booth with a bottle of champagne opened on the dirty, pockmarked table in front of her, Wren looks quite comfortable on the cheap, red plastic beneath her. All around her, women are shedding their clothes and giving lap dances to the patrons of the strip club underneath the glittering strobe lights. It's a demoralizing thing to watch. Their mouths are smiling but their eyes are dead. The thunderous music doing nothing to enhance the mood but instead only amplifies the stink of desperation in the air. Pulling a handful of crumpled dollar bills from her pocket, Wren tosses them haphazardly on the table and swigs from the champagne bottle as money hungry strippers converge on her like a fat man at a free buffet.

So this week I have my first match in the XWF. Different day. Same old bullshit.

Wren snorts with laughter and smacks a stripper on the ass leaving a bright red handprint. Snapping her fingers, Wren gets the attention of the cameraman and finally gets him to focus back on her and not on the strippers ass where it's been the last few minutes. Closing her eyes Wren leans back in the booth as she begins to speak.

I've been up and down this road more times than I can count. This is the moment where you prove you are what you say are or you fade away and become just another defunct wrestler in a business littered with them. This is a match that means more to me than you know...Do you know where I was before coming here for this? Do you know what I was doing? I was heading to Miami to wrestle for a companies main event, except there was a problem. You see, when I got there I find the company has gone belly up and not only do I not get my main event, I'm out of a job too. This is the business that all the fans and internet smarks thinks is so great. Everyone thinks this business is so glamorous but that couldn't be farther from the truth. I can't count the number of times I've slept in my car or went hungry because some promoter stiffed me. How many times I've sat in an emergency room and lied just so I could get my insurance to cover me because insurance companies don't pay a thing when someone bashes your skull in with a steel chair. The hours and hours behind the wheel driving just to go wrestle in some pissant town where not even 10 people come to see the show. And do you know why I did all that? Why I put myself through that hell over and over again?

Never opening her eyes, Wren grabs a pack of cigarettes from her pocket, shakes one loose and sticks it between her lips without lighting it. For her this is more than just one more match, it has more to do with being everything she's spent her entire career saying she is. Title's are meaningless, the pro wrestling landscape is littered with thousands of promotions and calling yourself a champion of one doesn't mean jack shit. Hall of Famer? There's more of those running around than jobbers and curtain jerkers but to be successful in a promotion like XWF? That is a priceless treasure that nobody can dispute. It really doesn't matter what she has to go through to get what she wants. It only matters that she succeeds in winning this match. It's all or nothing and that's something too many don't understand. They think it doesn't matter if they lose, they can always get another chance later on down the road....but Wren knows better. She's been around this business a long time and she knows better than anyone that sometimes one shot is all you get. When it's your time to step up to the plate, you better come prepared to drop bombs because you might never see the opportunity again...and Wren is prepared.

I did it...I DO it because I'm a professional wrestler and that's what wrestlers do. We kill ourselves to be the best, we sacrifice everything to be the one that's left standing at the end of the fight. Hell, we do it because we can't do anything else. It's something inside of us that makes us go to lengths no one in their right minds would go to. It's a drive inside of us that we can't turn off no matter hard we try. Do you think I want to do this anymore? I've been doing this for over 15 years and I'd love nothing more than to be able to just walk away. Want has nothing to do with it...I NEED to do this. People make fun of people like Hogan and Flair, they ought to just retire and fade away, they're too old, they're dragging the business down. You don't think they know that? Of course they do but they can't help themselves. Wrestling is a drug, it's a mean fucking drug too and every real professional wrestler out there are just junkies looking for their next fix.

Opening her eyes, Wren leans forward and pulls out a cheap, scratched up zippo, Wren flips open the lid and lights the flame, letting it burn for just a moment before closing the lid and putting it out. Over and over she does this as she continues to speak.

When I look at professional wrestling these days I see the thousands of wrestlers who have given everything to this business. Wrestlers like Buzz Sawyer and Terry Gordy, men who gave their very lives to this business. Look at the heart of this company, look into the soul of the XWF and tell me you don't see men like that looking back at you. Wrestlers who have given up their kids, their familes just so they could wrestle one more match because professional wrestling came first and their families were a distant second. THAT's what pro wrestling is all about.

Getting to her feet as she begins to pace back and forth, Wren's eyes are blazing and she crooks a finger at the camera.

On Savage Saturday Night I'm going to step into the ring with you two ladies and we're going to go old school and we're going to beat the hell out of each other. But in the end neither one of you will win. You can't. No matter how much you might want to you don't have what it takes to defeat someone like me. The XWF deserves the honor and glory that every professional wrestler who has bled out and broken bones has helped give it. It deserves the respect that every wrestler who has ever wrestled through the pain, who has shot up with steroids and gotten hooked on drugs just so they could go perform one more time has given it. For every fan that has spent their last dollar buying a ticket to a wrestling event, for every wife and girlfriend who has cried themselves to sleep because they know they will never be as important to their man as the wrestling business. For every child that grown up without a father...THAT is why I'm going to win. The XWF deserves more than a mediocre performance from a pair of mediocre wrestlers. It deserves a historic win from a wrestler of my level and that's exactly what's going to happen.

Sitting back once more, Wren sweeps her arm around at the strip club then pulls a stripper down onto her lap and throws an arm around her as the stripper helps herself to some of the champagne. Wren pats her gently on the thigh motioning for her to climb up on the table and dance. As the the stripper sways back and forth running her hands over her glistening nude body, the camera does too as the cameraman concentrates on the hypnotic movement of the the strippers bare breasts.

Prepare yourselves because on Savage you two are going to come face to face with the biggest bitch this business has ever seen and you're going to learn what real professional wrestling is all about. I want what's mine, I know how to get it and that should make you two very, very afraid. Put on your big girl panties because I'm coming....

All of a sudden the camera starts to shake violently as the cameraman cries out...

...Me too...Oh God...

Shocked, Wren's icy expression disappears as she breaks into a loud fit of laughter and the scene abruptly fades.
