This is War

Thumpthumpthumpthump.

Galloping. Galloping.

Stop.

The soft pattering of the horse's hooves came to a halt as its pace windled and slowed down. The northern wind keened and mewled through both the valley and the soul of the men that were fighting on the battlefield. The blood-curdling howls and pain-filled cries that filled the air could send shivers racing down anyone's spine and have the hairs on the back of their necks prick up. Soon, the mordant perfume of entrails and blood wafted up the maiden's nostrils, making her crinkle her nose in slight disgust. She hopped off the horse and drew out her sword, making her way through the fields. The unsightly effluvium of death was present as the ground had been drenched and baptized with the oily, crimson-colored ichor from the fallen warriors. Various limbs and body parts were scattered throughout the fields and weapons were broken in two as if they were nothing more but fragile little twigs. The petrifying and noxious, vile stench continued to waft up into the air from the countless corpses that were around. The scene was definitely not for the faint of heart. The gruesome sight of gore and the nauseating scent would have anyone bring up their lunch.

Strangely enough, the maiden was undaunted by the ghastly sight. She was unfazed by it. It didn't brother her at all in the slightest. Her face didn't give off any kind of emotion. No, she wasn't scared or anxious. She just tightened her grip on the sword and continued on her way, head held up high and a look of determination painted along her features. She looked forward and her eyes like vultures locked on and zeroed in on her target, her foe, her enemy: The beast. He had caused terror amongst the villagers for weeks. He slaughtered countless men, women and children and completely annihilated villages that he has been to. No one has been able to stop the behemoth being. All the dashing knights and daring warriors have sacrificed themselves and died in vain. The ominous being conquered all who stood in his way.

However, the maiden was determined to end his reign of terror and slay the monster once and for all.

By the time Jill reached the towering monster, all of the men were finished off and slain. The neon-green eye fixated down upon the much more smaller maiden and soon, a serpentine-like grin slowly slithered its way across his face.

Monster: Foolish little woman. Do you not know how many countless lives I've ended? I have decimated hundreds of thousands of people and those numbers will only continue to rise. No one shall bring me down. Do you not see the bodies of the weak and foolish that are all around you? Or are you that blinded by your own ignorance? What makes you think that you have what it takes to slay this beast? What makes you think that you can put down this monster? I will obliterate you, foolish maiden! I will rip your pretty self up piece by every...single...piece. I WILL SHRED YOU UP ALIVE! I will make you feel such an unbearable pain. I will tear your limbs apart! This beast will not be tamed. This beast will not stop.

The monster's grin grew wider and wider as he spoke. Soon, his blackened teeth showed and his neon-green eye was a-flicker of unhinged derangement. He spoke in a much more deeper and sinister tone of voice.

Monster: I will end you...

Jill simply quirked a brow at him. Without saying anything, she drove her sword down deep into his foot. The beast scowled and rose his hand up to send a hellacious slap over to the maiden... except for the fact that the maiden was gone! The sword was still planted into his foot, but Jill was nowhere to be seen or found. Befuddled, the beast looked around to see where the maiden had went off to. Suddenly, a voice whispered into his ear.

Jill: Looking for me?

Before the beast had any time to react, Jill unscathed her other sword and pierced right into the behemoth's neon-green eye. Crimson-red blood squirted out and the beast yelled out. The maiden quickly signaled for all the other knights that she brought along with her to launch their arrows at the fallen beast. Soon, ablaze arrows sizzled and whizzed up the air and right into the beast, piercing themselves deeply into him. It took three more rounds before the beast was finally killed.

The scene cuts over to Jill sitting down with a book in her hand entitled "The Maiden and the Beast", reading it aloud.

And so, the maiden was regarded a hero to the villagers. No one expected that a young woman who came from a poor background would ever become the one who would slay the beast and save the kingdom from such catastrophic events. Peace had been restored and the maiden would live a happy and wonderful life filled with good fortune, wealth and respect. The end!

Jill closed the book and places it aside. Her attention was then drawn to the camera and she began to speak.

Ghost Tank. Here you are still trying the instill fear in me when I made it very clear that I am not easily intimidated by you. I do not fear you. I am not scared of you. Here you are sounding like a broken record as you continuously proclaim yourself to be everyone's worst nightmare. The beast, the monster, the sublime catalyst that everyone should be fearful of. A uncanny individual whose bloodlust continues to whet his appetite for dismantling and obliterating bodies of the masses. As I've said before, and I'll say it again, you will be nothing more but a fabled childhood nightmare. I am not scared of anyone, Ghost Tank... and I'm certainly scared by the likes of you. You can go on and on and on about all the things that you will do to me. You can go on and on and on about how you will give me nightmares. However, the truth of the matter is that all the mind games you're playing right now won't be able to faze me. I'm not a pawn that you can easily manipulate and play with. I won't be scared by some Boogeyman wannabe that tries his best to scare me. It just won't work.

However, I do know that this match won't be easy for me. Like I've said before, I am very well aware of the things you are capable of doing. You've destroyed people right in front of the XWF Universe's eyes. You've broken many bones and you've made people bleed out. You have the battle scars to prove that. However, that doesn't mean you'll be able to throw me around like a lifeless ragdoll without breaking a sweat. I will stand my ground and I will continue to fight. I will try my damn hardest to take you down and you'll try your damn hardest to break every bone in my body like little twigs. This match won't be no easy feat for the two of us to accomplish. It will be absolute carnage out there.

So, Ghost Tank, it's going to take a lot more than just making feeble little remarks and cryptic messages to have me shaking in fear like a little chihuahua. When we step into that ring in Wednesday, I don't want you to hold anything back. You show me exactly why I should fear you. Show me why I should be afraid of you. Show me why you are a monster. Unleash hell in that ring. Rage hell. Will I be just another victim of your wrath? Who knows. However, be prepared to give me everything that you got on Wednesday night. I won't be cowering in fear. I will come at you with everything that I got and you better do the same thing. This maiden has one thing in her mind: To take down the monster that has been terrorizing everyone and slay him. Will you be the monster that continues his reign of terror and put down the maiden? Or will you fall to your knees in defeat and will be known in the story books along with other villains as the one who the hero won against? Do you want the happy ending to your story, or the bad ending?
