An open field in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dirt are people working. Everyone is sweating from the amount of heat given by the sun. Their clothes are drenched in sweat and far from being clean thanks to the hard labor they have been doing for several hours already.

If you were of age to swing a hammer, then you were building whatever you were asked to do. This could range from houses, decks, wagons, or molding weapons that come from the fire.

People were split into groups so everyone who could work did so. It wasn't an easy life, but it did teach you hard work. It taught you many lessons that were going to break you or build you.

The ladies would wash clothes, cook meals, plant seeds out in the fields, pick the food that would grow, and sow. They rarely complained because they used this time to talk among each other, like gossiping. They enjoyed the company of one another and even would help a hand when one was needed. Plus, when they wanted to take a break, they would stop and look at the hard working men in the field. If they were married or in any sort of relationship, this was their little meaningless flirt. They would plant their eyes and talk about the 'what if's' of a relationship. Eye candy and chatter was their reward for all the work they would do, and they did it with smiles.

The men did everything else.

This wasn't looked at a sexist thing or a beneath me type attitude. Everyone did their part and in the end, it all worked out nicely. The men would also get benefits. Not to much with the talking among each other, but they certainly never complained about looking at the females around them thinking lustful thoughts and probably wishful thinking. Nothing ever happened, at least nothing recorded or proven. If an affair or 'play date' would happen, then it was kept very quiet. Why? It was a small town and if one person found out... everyone would find out. Who knows what would happen then... probably some strong consequences... but we'll never know.

The children growing up saw this as the normal way of life. This wasn't seen as poverty or wealthy. This was seen as a normal day. This is what they were being molded to be use to.

A person born in 2000 would probably find it difficult to live in the 1800s. Reasons could be given, but ultimately it would default to the person born in 2000 is raised with technology and easy living devices. They would struggle if they would go back in time without the use of a smart phone, computer, internet, ipad, style of clothing, or a stylish car to drive.

The children born in this specific area never witnessed what others would born else where. They saw hard work, laughter, and fellowship. Of course there would be personality clashes like you would find anywhere. You had your peacemakers, then you had your competitive drivers ready to let out some steam. You had those who hated the thought of dancing, and those who enjoyed to be light on their feet.

But when it came to the end of the day, they were all in one accord. They were a united town who loved their life.

The Big City.

People everywhere.

The crowd hasn't stopped moving since the sun barely rose. And it's like this almost through out the day. The people are very diverse in their thinking and dress. A man dressed in a $800 suit is walking beside a man tattooed everywhere, leather jacket, and a beard that almost reaches his belly button.

A girl with well conditioned hair and just enough make-up to let her face beam to others, and a tight black dress that would help show off her curves... she walks alongside a girl with purple, pink, blue, and blonde hair with a t-shirt that reads "DONG IS GOD" (whatever that means) and a little XWF logo on the back.

They would never stop one another and begin a friendship, but they would walk together... speechless... emotionless... just to get to their destination. They looked like they would be united, but the end of the day would show you they never were. It was an illusion of unity.

The people in the big city would look at those who don't have what they do, and call them poor or say they were hit by a poverty storm. The ones in the smaller city would look at those in the city, and think they are just too damn weird. They were never meant to get along unless they found one purpose they could act on. A common bond that would look beyond the outward appearance, bank account, or location.

Back at the little town, or city as some may refer to it, was another normal day. At least it's how it started.

It was Monday.

A "Case of the Monday's."

People didn't know it would be a unique day, but do we ever? They were doing their chores and lunch time came. Seven men noticed three ladies were looking in their direction all morning. They were all single, so the men decided this was a time to test the waters... except... seven men and three ladies wasn't going to work.

They began talking to each other to see which man would go after which gal. Two men picked two ladies without a fuss from the rest of the guys. There remained one girl and five men... and these five wanted that girl. It was motioned among the men and was pitched to the lady, and was agreed upon: the men would fight with the winner being awarded a date with her.

It was set in stone, that the next day they would all fight around noon. Of course this word got around and placing bets began.

Donnie. He was rather small, but was strong like an ox. He was easily one of the strongest young men in the area and no one dared test his strength. He was clean shaven, and looked fairly attractive. Because most of the men were taller, he was seen as a last resort for them.

John. Some called him Little John, referring to the character played in Robin Hood. He was big, broad, but spoke very bad. Plus, his attention wasn't all that great. You would be talking about something, and at some point he just interrupted and refused to be interrupted himself. What a stubborn ass.

Richard, or Richie. You could say he was an average build. Skinny but muscular. While Donnie was the strong one, Richie was the quick one. He was fast... like Olympic track meet fast. Fast and he never.. ever.. ever got tired. He would move nonstop and ready for the next thing to go down. He never seemed to dry up of energy, which made ladies wonder what he'd be like in the sack.

"Cutter." No one knew his real name. He was a young boy found on the side of the street a few miles away from the town, and was taken in by a family. In the early stages of his life, he would walk around with whatever he could find and cut into peoples wallets, purses, or whatever to find things of value. They called him Chester prior to all these 'accidents', but Cutter is what stuck.

Finally, you had the biggest of them all, and his name was Eli. His family basically owned everything, but you would never know it being around him. He was one-of-the-guys. Down to earth, loyal, and a hard working individual. He always pushed his weight around, figuratively and literally. There were rumors about Eli, but no one knew if they were true or not. Eli could hold his own strength wise, and was fairly quick for a heavier guy. He was probably the most intelligent. You would do things because it's how you were shown... then he'd show you an easier way, or faster way, and make it much better.

The moment arrived for them all to face one another.

They couldn't decide the best way to do it, until Eli stepped in and said,

"I'll fight whoever first, and that winner goes on to fight the next guy, and so forth. Power.. endurance.. that is what will win this game."

They all agreed and shook hands that this would not divide their friendship or work. The order was decided, and that order was: Richie, John, Cutter, and then Donnie.

People circled around and were excited to see the matches. Proud parents were hoping their boy would win. No one knew who the lady was actually going for, if any of them. Regardless, the deal had been made and the fighting was about to begin.

Eli looked around at the ground and watched peoples expressions. You can't help but smile at the encouragement everyone was getting, plus what the prize would be. Eli saw her too. She was a little bit in the distance, but the two shared a smile... which caused Eli to get blind sided and hit in the back of the head by Richie. Richie got on top of Eli immediately, and used his quickness to speed punch Eli... it didn't look well... until Eli used his large hand and wrapped it around Richie's neck.. and squeezed.

Richie's speed started to slow up, and he wasn't strong enough to remove Eli's grip from his throat. Eli pulled the struggling Richie closer and he whispered in his ear,

"Ya gotta talk to her if you want something to happen, so go ahead, man... talk, Richie."

Richie eventually passed out and Eli was declared the winner.

John tried to pump himself up and let out a deep yell, as if he was warning Eli. Eli tackled him and gave some strong punches. John was quickly put away, and never walked the same again. Eli had broken 4 ribs, and did some damage to John's spine. People overheard Eli whisper to John,

"John, you have to have a strong back-bone to stand up for her. I don't think you will."

Cutter saw what Eli had done to the two previous boys, and decided he was going to play cheap. He didn't let Eli know he was coming and immediately jumped on Eli's back. It didn't set well with everyone, but the fight continued. Eli was able to flip Cutter over his shoulder and was able to stomp on Cutter's hands. Both of them. Repeatedly. Until Eli heard the brake and Cutter asked for Eli to stop. Again, Eli told Cutter,

"She'll probably want you to hold her hand, but I don't think that's going to work."

It was down to Eli and Donnie. Eli dropped to his knees with a smile, and a little blood coming from his mouth, and told Donnie to get the first shot in. That was a no-no. Donnie was strong, and could easily knock everyone out with one punch. Then again, no one hit Eli. And Eli didn't get knocked out. In fact, Eli laughed and received a few more power punches from Donnie. Eli's eye had started to swell a little, but he was able to get up and the fight pushed through. It ended with Eli on top of Donnie swinging away until people pulled him off. Eli yelled,

"Your eyes won't be able to admire her beauty."

Clearly people heard this and looked back at Donnie... his eyes were black.. bleeding.. and swollen almost shut. Eli was declared the winner.

Eli wiped the blood off his face, and began making his way to her...
