Its hard, living like this, jumping from City to City. But I guess long rides, and good music are good for someone, at least thats what I've read. I've been on the road with the XWF for almost a month and a half, and every time I leave an arena, I can't help but wonder where the hell we'll be next week. Nick said this was the best way, staying on the move, never be held down anywhere. He said it would be harder for them to figure me out. When we left him in New York, he said that he would handle all of it from here on out, all I had to do was figure out what was best for me and my sister. And after all these miles I've driven, all these thoughts I've had there is really only one fact in my mind, I feel like I left him, I feel like he shouldn't have to do this on his own. But he's looking out for me, for us, I just wish there was more I could do. I hate feeling guilty, I hate feeling like I can't help him, but would he let me even if I did turn this car around? What am I doing, why am I Running from this? I dont want to be the reason he fights.... I dont want to be the reason anyone else has to get killed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charleston, South Carolina, "The Chuck". As its known by the loc's. I swore to myself I Would never come back here, not after him. The last time I was in South Carolina I was still with my Ex, and I think the only reason he brought me here was to show me off to the rest of his Down Home, Trailor Trash Family. What can I say I guess? Its sort of flattering, but I hate thinking about that prick. McKayla doesn't think its too bad though, but then again she has never really travelled like this. I get sick of all these Hotels, Motels... But right now I just can't seem to settle down. We got into town at around 7 p.m., and I Could already smell the stink of this city. It penetrates and leaves you with a sick sense of what this place is really about, how sick the people really are in this part of the country. McKayla had fallen asleep in the passengers seat, after swearing to me she could ride with me the rest of the way from Virginia. Its okay, I was getting kind of tired myself. As the car rumbled up to the hotel I gave McKayla a tap on the shoulder, she didn't budge.
"Goddamn Kayla, Wake the Fuck up, we're here!"
She openned her eyes, well one eye, the other was caught in a lazy sort of gaze as she rubbed the sleepy sand out of the one that was fully open. She looked up at the hotel and smiled to herself/
McKayla Ryback - "Damn Z, this wrestling gig is pretty fucking sweet."
We had never been the type to stay at fancy places before, but I figured hell as long as the XWF is paying for it why the hell not stay in the lap of luxury for as long as we could. At least she'll have known what it was like to be... everything that we really arent.
"Dude you should totally get a hot tub, I need a fucking Hot Tub right just now."
"Haha, Can I Park Please? Damn!"
It had been a while since I Had seen her this happy, and to be honest it made me happier than I had been in a while as well. Nick told us to travel light, so with some of the money I made from the last job I had let McKayla choose some other stuff she would want to wear, seeing as all the other stuff we had might have been too much to carry around on this adventure. It was sort of sad having to leave everything behind, the life we had in North Carolina, I knew she missed her friends, I would be lying if I said I didn't miss mine. But Nick said after a while, I would be able to afford something nice for us. And I trust him, before anyone else. As the doors slid open I was surprised by just how modern this place looked, there was a river theme that seemed to play out everywhere, chandeliers hanging from the cieling, and little modern furniture in the lobby. Needless to say it was just a bit more than I had expected from South Carolina.
"Oh Before We Leave we HAVE to Go to Myrtle Beach, you know how longs its been since I've seen Bobby!"
"Fucking, Who?"
McKayla was one of those Social Media Queens, she had friends all over the country, half of which were just poser profiles I would imagine. I did the same thing too back in the day, and I can't say it did me all that well.
"Dude I'm so not taking you to see some random kid in Myrtle Beach, so get that out of your head, we just got out of the car and all you want to talk about is getting back in? Your Out of it Kay."
"Haha, I know, but Z this is So Exciting, you know we never got to travel like this before!"
"Its South Carolina McKayla... Your acting like we're in Miami or something."
"O-M-G we Are NOT Going to Miami!!!"
Shaking my Head we stepped up to the check in counter. The guy standing at the desk was definitely your southern type, short cut dark hair, a little big from eating Fried food and Grits, and such an accent, the name on his name tag said "Kevin", I sigh to myself as McKayla Loves these types of guys.
Kevin - How can we Help Ya'll?
And she wasted no time
"Yes Sir! A Reserv-"
"Reservation Under Ryback."
He looked back and forth at the two of us for a moment, smiling to himself as he put it into the computer. McKayla looked at me and smiled Mischievously, I smirked and pushed her backwards away from the counter. She spun on the tile, waving me off as she headed for the snack machine. Coming to think of it I was getting hungry myself.
"This place have food?"
He looked up momentarily from the computer.
"Yeah, There's food everywhere around here."
Oh he was trying to be a smart ass.
"Yeah, okay, well I mean some place that we don't have to like get back in our car and drive to."
"Yeah, haha, we have a restaurant through that hall, you'll see the signs, don't get the chicken, its all cooked in the same grease. Any choice on Room?"
"Yeah, I guess something with a big bath, this bitch needs a hot tub."
"Don't we all, don't we all, alright I'll but you in Suite 7, its kind of big for only two people."
I nod my head and look around for McKayla, shes at the Candy Machine with her arm shoved all the way up into it, she sees me and waves with her free hand, a grin on her face.
"You know what I don't think its gonna matter, I need to stay at a distance from this chick."
He leans over the counter and sees her, both of us are locked in a stare for a moment before he turns back to me.
"Heres a dollar for that shit man."
"A Dollar for what?"
He hands me the card keys and bows, turning back into the office. I nod, nice guy I guess.
"Okay Robin Hood We got your Fuckin' Hot Tub!"
She ate her bag of hot peanuts as we rode up the elevator, she kept on trying to give me some like she didn't really want them all. But I wanted real food, that place he talked about was sounding better and better. As the door opened she threw the bag onto the floor. I guess they pay people good money to clean that stuff up so I wasn't that worried about it, but it kind of made me wonder who McKayla was turning into. I guess the maternal sense in me was running on high with the lack of sleep and sustenance. The hallways were nice, black walls, painted with gold trim, the River theme played up very well here as well, and it smelled like Apple Cider for some reason. The room at the very end of the hall was ours, huge black and gold double doors with the keypad in the center of it. I swiped the card and suddenly I was Phil from the Hangover, as if "My Life By Like" By Grits was playing in my background. The place was huge, floor to ceiling windows across the entirety of the common area, a full kitchen on one side, and a mini-bar on the other, the furniture here too was very modern, almost hipster cliche.
"OH MY GOD ZEEEEE LOOK AT THIS PLAAAACE!"
Her enthusiasm was hilarious, I laughed out loud as we both stepped to the window, looking down over the city, not as good of a view as New York. But this would have to do, you could see all the way out into the Charleston Harbor and halfway up the Ashley River. This place was, actually really nice when seen like this. It had me taken for a moment, just the thought of this is how we live now. I almost tears up but McKayla broke me out of my spell.
"Yes, Zoey I love you!"
She found the hot tub, I smiled and headed for the mini-bar, it made me realize how much I really needed a drink, I looked around at the selection, mostly southern style, whiskey and Captain Morgans. I grabbed a bottle of Jim Beam and set it on the table, McKayla came walking over already in her bra and panties.
"Whoa, slow down Son, Nick isn't here you can't be getting all shit hammered."
"And Why The Hell Not?"
"Cuz Bitch I'm not dealin' with your ass."
"McKayla I wasn't even that drunk."
"Bullshit You were walkin' around wishin' everybody a Happy Valentines Day!"
"Hahahahaah, I did do that huh."
"Okay I'll make you a deal, pour me a shot, for every shot you drink, and we'll do this."
"Your crazy."
"What you really think this is my first rodeo, gimme that!"
Before I could say anything she snatched the bottle off the table and put it to her lips. She had a gnarly ass whiskey face, you could tell she hadn't drank no Jim Beam before. She pulled it away after a few seconds and coughed.
"Yeah your about to be fuckin' drunk. Haha."
"You should have told me you were drinking piss water!"
"What you mean? Jim Beam is my husband."
"Thats not what you said last week when you and--"
"McKayla I Will Stab You!"

-The Shoot-
The shot fades in, The Ashley River, boats are lined up in the marina, and the half moon shines overhead. The smell of the salty ocean air hangs heavy, and a cool breeze blows as Zoey's hair sweeps across her face. She leans over the railing, thinking, almost foreboding. She slowly turns to the camera, with a deep sigh she begins.
"Last week, what can I say, was another victory, another head on the wall sort of speak. I did exactly what I said I was going to, and if you think I'm here to issue an apology, give an explanation for why I did what I did you can forget it. You dont deserve it, and to be quite honest I really dont feel like I fucking owe you anything. One thing I've come to learn about the world, as well as this business is that it truly is Dog-Eat-Dog. You would think that a person like you would have known that. Over all, I did it because I knew I was the better person to get the job done, that I think Kyle Star earned his Blaster Jack. He was the weakest link in the chain that night, and ultimately he blew it for a couple of hard working individuals. Its funny, how in the aftermath of something like that, you start to respect the men you were standing across from. At least I hope the feeling is somewhat mutual. But then there was something that happened, something that I cant even begin to comprehend. Frodo Fucking Smackins.
What is there to be said that hasn't already been said about this guy, he's crazy, a lunatic, the type of sick individual that a person could watch burn. But no, that would be too good for someone like him, it was one thing, to lay me out on that floor in that match. But I was still thinking, dwelling on what happened to me in that locker room. You are disgusting, I dont hate many people, hate is a strong word, but Frodo, I promise, before my time is done I will watch you, and your legacy fucking Burn. I will bring this fight to everyone you surround yourself with. And I promise, on everything I love, I will make this happen. So Dont go anywhere Frodo, because I can tell you with a stone cold promise that I am not the type of person you are, what happened to Mark Flynn was just a Message, and who better to send it than someone like him. But you, you arent worth all that, it would only serve to pump up your own massive ego, you dont deserve it. Outside of this ring I Could destroy you, you wouldn't even exist anymore. But inside that ring, I Could Humiliate you, in front of the millions of people who consider you worth whatever it is you stand for.
So what about it Frodo? Do you really think that all of that was worth it? Do you want to try again? Because I dont think you are, I think your weak, a little man whos only appeal to this company is the fact that he plays his role, the role he's been given. Your supposed to be crazy Frodo, so you make yourself at all times, seem just that. But now you fucked with someone who isn't just going to sit back and let it happen, what you did last week really hit hard, how does a man justify something like that, did the fans take it for what it really was? Or did they just sit back and enjoy the show, because thats all this really is right? A Show? A Game? Is it a Fucking Game Frodo? Do you really believe that what you did fell into the catagory of what is acceptable within the walls of the XWF? Did anyone? Gio? Paul? Shane? Take notice? Or have they just gotten into the standard of letting you do whatever the fuck it is you want? Well, if thats the way the game has to be played, then best fucking believe that I can do just as well. But I think thats all for now, all you deserve, all you need to hear, consider my offer Frodo, see me in that ring, please, so something much worse doesnt have to happen.
Zoey's eyes have begun to tear up, she shakes her hands, flustered after talking about it, the camera man moves his camera to the side, obviously seeing that Zoey is feeling edgy. He puts his hand on her shoulder, she nods her head and turns back to the camera, he focus's back up. She sighs for a moment, brushing her hair to the side, wiping the rest of the tears from her eyes.
"This week however, I get to go up against a man known as Kennedy Nikomedes, a man who I haven't seen in action since my first week with the XWF. And From what I saw that week I have to say, that I am very very impressed. Maybe even going as far as to say he might be the first hurdle I consider a challenge here in the XWF, Mastermind wasn't in it, and last week the team pitted against us wasn't worth the words they spoke all week long. But Kennedy on the other hand, is actually someone that might be able to see things from an outside perspective, our veiws and thoughts might differ, because you see, Kennedy, your an All-American, looking to better yourself as well as the people you serve. And I think that everyone in the XWF can respect that, but there has always been a problem that I've had with someone in your office. Someone with your perks and powers, do you see what happens to the rest of the 99% because you can pander to the masses, standing at some pulpit in Washington. And your in ring skills reflect your honeyed words.
But now it seems, you stand against someone with a bit of a problem. Not with you personally, but for this government, and I know that this match between the two of us wont mean anything when it really comes down to it, nothing will change, and I think you know that. Nothing ever changes, the last two men that have sat in the office you now are hoping for, have done nothing but make this country worse, and do you think you can do any better? The Economy is in a flat-spin, men and women are killing each other left and right, there are... sigh... rapes and atrocities all across this country. Do you think you can pull us out of the tailspin that your predecessors threw us all into? Hell, even if you don't at least you'll look good right? At least you'll be at the head of it all, the figurehead for the biggest terrorist regime this world has ever known. And even though you claim to be just like us, claim to be different, it only takes so much time, so much money, and so much power to corrupt anyone who sits at that desk in the oval office. John F. Kennedy himself, was to this day, the only one who promised anything to America, was the only person who was in line to deliver the truth, and what happened to him?
They give you a choice, I've seen the choice Kennedy. I know the men who really control this country. You think you can really change anything? You've started I guess, which is why I wonder, you have time to make it up to South Carolina, to fight little old me? Why is this worth your time? Any of this? What are you accomplishing in it? You think your Jesse Ventura? You think you can build Celebrity inside this company and use it as a stepping stone into that office? You think people like me are going to stand aside and watch your rise with envious Eyes? You might hold some power outside the ring, but inside you truly are just another one of us, and thats really what its about isn't it? Showing the people you can be broken, showing the people you can be beaten, a humble hero, certain admirable. So what should we do? What else could we do other than give them a show they wont soon forget, that echos from South Carolina, Through Georgia and all the way to the great state of Florida. It takes a strong person to stand up against someone like you, it takes a clear mind, and a sound conscience, not just anyone can enter the ring with someone like you and expect to walk out a winner.
Good Thing I'm Exceptional.
Zoey winks at the Camera, pushing it off to the side, the shot fades to black.
