...and when Lycana sang, everyone turned away. Used to the noose, they obeyed...

Opening up today we find Marf, not in a tall forest tree this time. Just an ordinary, Italian hostel bed. Marf is unconscious but stirring under the plain grey sheets. There is a noticeable amount of sweat on his forehead as he continues tossing and turning. Something was invading ole Marf’s pleasant dreams.

...remember...

...remember...when she sang...

...I remember that night when she sang her last real note to the world. Right before I killed her. Really it was more of a gurgled sound with a background chorus of sputtering blood. But it was still a sound so it counts. I remember her bloodied face staring at me while the life escaped her eyes. Any average schmuck would’ve cracked clean in half at the sight. But not me. It’s not like she was my first, let’s grow up here. But that didn’t make her any less important.

I remember after I moved her to the bed, hiding in the bathroom. I didn’t bother to wash up though, I just sat in the darkness and waited. What might of been minutes or hours, who can really say, Will Rage entered the hotel room and found his blushing bride to be, mutilated on the bed. I savoured that blood curdling scream of horror that roared out of his oblivious lungs. I could here him stumble to the bed, blubbering nonsense as he dropped on top of her body and wept. I slowly came out of the bathroom while he desperately tried to revive her by crying onto her.

I remember pulling the hunting knife out of my belt and standing beside Will. He finally noticed me and tried to turn and lunge at me but fell forward as I moved which made it really easy to stab the knife deep into his gut. I pulled the knife out and shoved Will into the wall while he looked down in shock, blood starting to seep out of his lower stomach. Will reached a bloodied hand towards me and stumbled forwards but I easily dodge while using the knife to stick him in the side just under his ribs. Will falls forward and crashes into the small dresser, bringing it down with him...

...t what happene...

I remember Will Rage looking up at me, blood leaking out of him from multiple holes now. The once ferocious champion nothing more then a whimpering mess. I pin his chest with one knee while slowly pushing the blade of the knife into his shoulder. He cries out in pain and sorrow as I give the knife a quick twist and pull it back out. Along with the blood there’s a chunk of muscle on the blade now. Will struggles under my weight but the loss of blood has him far too weak to get free.

I remember grinning down at him while his eyes searched frantically for what to do. I placed the knife against the side of his face while he shook and moaned in fear. I remember the sound his left ear made as I moved the blade across his cheek and up, slicing the ear off. It was a rubbery ripping noise and boy did Will ever screech out. It gave me a headache so I tried stuffing the ear into his mouth but it wasn’t enough to stop the noise.

I remember impatiently putting the knife to his throat and slashing before I could think about what I was doing. It was a clean cut and before long the blood started oozing out like an overflowing sink. Will grabbed at his sliced open throat while coughing and gurging in a panic. His blood splashed up and covered me while I watched him die. No more Mel, no more Will. Just gallons of their blood and a well used hunting knife...

... I remember...

... remember...

Marf: That’s not what happened!

Marf jolts out of bed, breathing heavily. His shirt is sticking to him from all the sweat. He looks frantic but well rested. Marf surveys the room before calming down and shaking his head with a smile.

Marf: I think I see what’s happening here...I’ve become so engaged with Lycana, my reality is once again being altered. Are we meant for this after all? My opinion is yes, we can’t breakaway at this point. The violence is right there, waiting for us both. Whether Lycana or myself has the will power to survive it, or whether we believe the other can survive or not. None of that matters anymore, the violence is there waiting one way or another. And you wanna know something, maybe it’s a good thing we both have those uncertainties Lycana.

Maybe that adds an extra dose of unpredictability that deep down we both know we need. Singles match or not, we are going to war with the upmost physicality. We’re within hours of our time together Lycana. The time for doubts, declarations and reassurances is past. Your taunts and threats have come and gone but my anticipation has only built. Your promises of having the arsenal to take me to my knees better be kept. I need to know how hard you can hit me before I break you. Your boot will not be my final resting place though. I know you’ll bring the pain and I know you’ll make me bleed but you will never be able to keep me down, that is something I can promise you dear woman.

Marf offers a gracious smile while walking to his dresser to change his sweat soaked shirt. Even though it’s a quick glance if you look careful enough you can see multiple pictures on Marf’s dresser top. One of Ash Quinn, one of Atara Themis, one of Shawn Wylde’s girlfriend Renee and one of Lycana. Nothing weird about that...

Marf: So, you’re truly prepared for our war to open Warfare. That’s good, unlike the rest of them I’ve faced, I actually believe you. After all these words, promises, sweet caressing compliments and insidious insults I see that someone is finally opening their arms to me. Now I’m something! No longer brushed aside and hoped to be held in other’s boxes. This time it seems I’m actually free to do it all, hurt and be hurt in the best possible ways. Lycana you’re a dark light I’ve sought since arriving here, kindred spirits may not be a wild claim.

Blood will be spilt sure, but it will also be shared. We will become bonded in that ring like nobody else before us and nobody ever again after us. You will break my flesh and I will return the favor in kind. Then we will press our broken flesh together and see who becomes overwhelmed first. More than likely it’ll be the referee. But after him, who runs out of fuel first?

Marf sarcastically itches at his messy beard before frowning into the camera.

Marf: Well Lycana, according to you I will be the one snuffed out. Not sure I like your tone on that one young lady. I mean do you really think you can drag my much larger body to the top rope to hit your finisher? Or that you can actually keep me down long enough to climb to the top and hit an alternate big move on me? All that extra effort just to put me down, extinguish my flame so to speak. To me it sounds like you’re the one more at risk of running on empty my dear Lycana.

But hey, we can go around and around in circles all we want over who will drop first. We’ve already gone back and forth enough, spouting anything and everything to feel one another out. Testing to see if we could indeed withstand the onslaught of what’s to come. Time is up now. Warfare is upon the horizon and we are ready to shed our words for fists and blood please. Anyone hoping for a quick opener will be sorely mistaken coming across us instead. A long drawn out battle will be opening the show and it will likely be the only thing worth a damn for anyone to talk about afterwards.

And after it’s all said and done, after I limp away from your fallen body, nobody will be underestimating either of us again. Hell, nobody is even going to want to step into the ring with either of us when they see what we do to one another. I’ll be carving you up worse than any of your wolf friends Lycana, don’t forget to bring extra gauze. And maybe some smelling salts for the folks in the first row. Mmm, just picturing it and how close we are...I can’t wait. Outstretch those arms wide Lycana, I’m falling forward in a hurry...

Marf backs away slowly and exits the room as we fade to black.
