“Until I Pass Out” by Uncle Reece starts playing lowly, and gradually getting louder on a cellphone lying on a nightstand beside a messy king sized bed. Chris Chambers rolls over slowly and reaches for the phone several times, knocking his glasses off the table as well as a plastic cup from the night before. Finally he grabs the phone and shuts the musical alarm off and sits up in the bed. He leans down and picks his glasses up from the floor, wipes the sleep away from his eyes and slides his glasses on.

Chris: Yet another beautiful morning, and I couldn’t be more excited than I am today. I have a match scheduled against Robbie Bourbon. I have enjoyed watching his conversations leading up to this fight, but honestly, he is just so angry. I mean, I really can’t blame him, if I was a drunk redneck with no future, I would be mad at myself too. But you know, if you need to take it out on me, then by all means, please do, maybe you will find some healing in that. I have seen some of your history Robbie, and I honestly can say, I had no idea you actually had a career before I got here, because the way you carry yourself now is just a complete contrast to when you actually had talent. I am grateful that I will be stepping into the ring with you for my first match, one of the biggest names to ever grace the XWF, and as sorry as I am to have to do it, I will defeat you, and I will begin my methodical climb up the ranks of the XWF towards Unknown Soldier and his XTreme title.

Chris slides up off the bed and stands to his feet. He walks over to his penthouse window and pulls open the curtains to a darkened Charlotte skyline. The vivid blue glow of the Bank of America building gleams to the right of his view. He takes a deep breath and turns to look in the mirror.

Chris: Robbie, I am not one to run my mouth. I believe that to succeed in this life, you need to surround yourself with people that help build you up and help push you forward. I understand that you have a drinking problem and it is causing you problems, and you need to get it out, which is why I am willing to face you under any circumstances. I know that you need healing and you need to get some relief from what has happened to you, and I’m willing to help you get there, but the result is not what you are going to expect my friend. I have not positioned myself in the XWF to be set up to fail, on the contrary, I have set myself up to achieve greatness, and losing is not part of that plan.

Chris walks over to the side of his bed and kneels. He leans his head down and begins to pray.

Chris: Father, I just want to thank you again for another beautiful day. I am grateful for this breath of life that you have given me for another day. Lord, my prayer today is that you allow me to be the light in the darkness for you, to allow the world to see you through my words, and through my actions. You gave your only son to die for me, and you are an amazing God. You are a God of second and third and fourth chances, and you never give up on me. I just ask that you continue to open the doors that you have opened for me, and your will be done through all things I do. Thank you for being you, you are a good, good Father and you give me wonderful gifts, allow me to share those gifts with the world. Amen.

Chris wipes away a few scant tears from the corners of his eyes and stands up. He walks over to the closet and opens the door and walks in and turns the light on. He grabs his favorite For King and Country T-Shirt and pulls it on over his head. He steps into a pair of blue jeans and pulls them up and grabs a pair of white Adidas and walks back out the closet and sits on the bed and puts on his shoes. He chuckles and looks back up at the camera.

Chris: Robbie Bourbon, when I saw that I was scheduled to fight you, I really was shocked. You know, I was within moments of stealing the Xtreme Title away from the Unknown Soldier, and after that disappointment, I really didn’t know where I would make my stamp in the XWF at. And out of nowhere, here comes a drunk running his mouth, saying he is going to destroy my career. What a joke. So I really do owe you one Robbie, and one day, I’ll hopefully be able to pay it forward to someone else who is at a crossroads in their career here in the XWF.

I do need to ask you something though. What is with all the name calling? I mean not only you, but everyone here, this, that, . It is so disheartening to hear every one of you just berate and bash someone because of their sexual preference. God created all humans to have free will, and thus, being able to choose the same sex is part of that free will. Why do we pass judgement, when clearly in the Bible it says, don’t judge less you be judged and what measure you judge will be measured back to you. We are called to love and not judge. So try to do better guys…

Chris finishes tying his shoes and jumps off the bed and grabs his cellphone and puts it into his pocket. He walks into the living room of the apartment and grabs his wallet off the counter and his keys. He glances over to the television to catch a quick glimpse of the weather for the day and walks out the front door. He steps into the elevator and rides it down to the ground floor and makes his way out to the front entrance of the complex. At this point the sun is starting to rise and sparkle across the Charlotte skyline. The high rises sparkle luminously as the sun slowly sneaks higher. Chris stops and takes a deep breath of morning air and turns and starts walking up the street.

Chris: The good thing about living in uptown Charlotte is that everything is pretty much in walking distance. In this day and age, everyone is so tied up in their cars and trucks and cell phones, nobody actually takes time to stop and take in what God has blessed us with around us. I mean walking to and from places is so relaxing. It really lets you clear your mind. You might want to try it Robbie, just stop and take a walk, really take in your surroundings. I don’t know if you have noticed, but it is time for a change in the XWF. You see all these faces of people who talk about being ten time Champion, five time tag team Champion, and all that jazz, and to me that just screams that it is time for fresh blood to make a run to the top, which is why I am here in the first place. The XWF is in need of a new face, and that face is “The Golden Boy” Chris Chambers. Not only am the athlete to do it, I have the personality that the fans love, and when I finally step into the ring with you Bourbon, the fans will finally start to get what they really want and deserve, and that is a new caliber of wrestler. Too long has the XWF sat stagnant, and Robbie Bourbon, you were part of that problem, and now it’s time for changing of the guard, you will first hand see what I have been telling you since I got here, and that is that I will not stop until I am at the top of the XWF looking down on all the people who I had to defeat to get there. Not looking down in pride, but in admiration, because many will try to stop me, but the fact of the matter is, you can’t stop me. It’s a new dawn here in the XWF, fight the change, or sit back and enjoy the ride, it is your choice, in the end though, it will be the same result, and that is me… victorious and marching towards my destiny.

Chris stops at the front door of an apartment building. He walks into the front door and hits the buzzer for Apartment 3D. A sweet female voice comes over the intercom.

Voice: Hello? Can I help you?

Chris: Hey, it’s Chris, just wanted to stop while I had a few.

Voice: Oh hey! Come on up Chris!

The female on the other end of the intercom buzzes for Chris to enter. Chris opens the door to the stairwell and makes his way up to the third floor and knocks on the door for apartment D. The door flings open and a beautiful redhead stands there in gym shorts and a sports bra. She reaches out and gives Chris a huge hug and welcomes him in. Chris walks into the apartment and a huge smile comes across his face when he sees the young teenaged female in the wheelchair sitting in the living room watching wrestling news. The female closes the door behind Chris and walks over and tosses a baggy shirt on. She grabs two coffee cups from the cabinet in the kitchen and sets them on the counter and speaks.

Jenny: Chris, can I get you anything?

Chris: I’d love a water if you have it, you know how I am when I am fighting, and now that I’m signed with the XWF, I have to stay in shape, which means cutting back on my coffee and my sweets, you know my sweet tooth sis!

Jenny: Yeah, yeah, you are a totally fatty…

Jenny rolls her eyes.

Chris: Tiff, how you feeling today beautiful niece?

Tiffany: I’m fine Uncle Chris. I saw the announcement on the TV about you getting your first televised fight. Mom says I should be watching something less violent than wrestling, but now that you are going to be on the shows, I get so excited to even just see a glimpse of you on here! So inspiring to see you live your dream!

Chris: Sweet girl, you will be ringside with me when I fight at every single fight. You know I do everything I do for you and your mom, you two are so important to me, and motivate me so much to keep pushing forward and not let anything ever get me down. I mean look at you, in a wheelchair, told from the age of 4 that you would never ever walk in your life, and yet every day I come and help you with your therapy, and you are so close to being able to walk on your own. Don’t get it wrong, you inspire me little one, not the other way around. I just wanted to stop and see you before I head to the gym to start getting prepared for the upcoming fight. I may be in and out a little less, but you know I will always make time for my family. I love you.

Chris walks over and hugs Tiffany and kisses her on the forehead. He grabs the bottle of water from his sister and walks over and plops down on the couch. Chris smiles and the camera fades to black.
