(02-04-2015, 11:04 AM)Trent Gein Said: A governor and a presidential nominee.... how exciting. The only good politician is a dead one and the only sensible way to live in this world is without rules, without restrictions or boundaries. The only true government is anarchy,

You might find this surprising, but I do respect your opinion, Mr. Gein. I'd even go so far to say that the government has too much power. Way too much, in fact. The government, at least in the United States, was designed by our forefathers to protect the rights of the citizens, to stay out of the way and allow citizens to conduct their business. To defend our borders and use military force whenever necessary to ensure our continued freedom.

Over the years, what this government has become is a destructive force! They no longer care about the mom and pop business and the welfare of the whole of all society. They use scare tactics to manipulate our people into agreeing with them in whatever it is that's on their agenda. The government has become big business centric and have forgotten why they're even there. To protect the citizens against both foreign and domestic enemies alike.

Your suggestion though, that anarchy is the way to go, I disagree with completely. Without some kind of government structure, who then, makes sure the bills get paid? Who then, Mr. Gein, ensures the safety of all Americans. Without a structured government, you lose the ability to assemble a structured military. When that happens, what stops terroristic regimes like ISIS from invading and bombing this once great nation into submission?

I have that answer for you.

Nothing. Nothing stops them.

I'd say a limited, structured government is much more pragmatic than your simplistic anarchist ideals. You can stand back, and rightfully so, and be captious while pointing out every little flaw of structured government. Yet if we can shrink the massive size of the government and its intrusions and infringements on natural born rights of the citizens, then all of those flaws that you'd be so very correct in pointing out, would be very minimal.

Again though, I certainly respect your opinion.
