It is an excuse, when you actually get any. As Zak was kind enough to illustrate, you didn't.

Secondly, Zak seemed perfectly at peace with my doing the job he was reluctant to do. These things happen when you get involved in a lovers quarrel.

That's why I am more of a one night stand kind of guy.
