Her tears flowed freely now as she released his hand and stood from the chair next to his hospital bed. It was nearly closing time, and she would be asked to leave soon. 

Maybe it was for the best… His battle was nearing an end, and hers, despite her notion of being an old timer, was still very much alive and well…
