[Steve Sayers is sitting at a table at The Nook, a coffee shop in Halifax’s North End. The shop is a comfy, independent coffee shop with a variety of tables, chairs and stools. Sayers is currently enjoying a cappuccino with a camera crew standing by. He’s dressed in a smart grey suit with a navy tie. The door opens and Steve Justice walks into the shop off of the damp, overcast city street. He’s wearing a black leather motorcycle jacket; worn, dark blue jeans; Oxblood Doc Marten boots and an XWF t-shirt. He nods at Sayers and takes a seat in the chair opposite him.]

Sayers: Steve, thank you for taking the time to meet with me to talk about your match at Saturday Night Savage.

Steve nods and runs his hand through his short, brown goatee.

Justice: You’re welcome. Did you have any trouble finding the place?

Sayers: No, we found it okay.

Sayers clears his throat and awkwardly takes a sip of his cappuccino

Justice: Steve, you seem a little nervous. Are you okay?

Sayers: Yeah, I’m just a little bit jet lagged.

Steve Justice smiles and holds his hands up.

Justice: Hey, relax. I know I have a reputation for being a little unpredictable. I mean, I did end a match in this town by falling in the harbor. But I’m trying to turn over a new leaf and start fresh as an XWF competitor.

Sayers tells the camera crew to get into position and begin recording the interview.

Sayers: Why don’t we start there? What made you decide to return from semi-retirement?

Steve Justice frowns momentarily in concentration.

Justice: Well, when I left wrestling, it was because I had some injuries that needed time to heal. Also, I was unhappy with the company I worked for. It’s no secret that I didn’t see eye to eye with my boss at the time. After finally getting released from my contract, I needed some time to heal and to get my passion for this business back. At my age and with my reputation a little tarnished, there weren’t a lot of organizations willing to give me a chance. Then one day, I’m watching TV and I catch an XWF card. I saw a lot of talented people putting it on the line every night. My thirst for competition came back and I needed to become a part of the organization. And so, after a few meetings with Vincent Lane, we hammered out an agreement: I’d be given a chance to start at the bottom and work my way to the top of the XWF. In exchange, I basically promised to behave myself. No more ambushing people with kendo sticks and brawling all over the building or any of the other crazy shenanigans that I used to get up to. From now on, I handle all my business in sanctioned matches only.

Sayers: What do you think about your first match in XWF?

Steve Justice waves over the waitress and orders a tea.

Justice: I’ve tried to look for some tape to study on my two opponents but it seems like the XWF library doesn’t have very much on them. You have to be careful with people like that because maybe they just haven’t hit their stride. If you take a person like that lightly, you can end up being an entry on someone else’s highlight reel. But to be honest with you, it doesn’t matter who’s in the ring with me on Saturday night. This is my big return in the world of wrestling. This is going to be the beginning of me taking my rightful place at the top again. Who I have to beat to get where I want to be is inconsequential to me. I know this might sound like I’m bragging or I’m delusional or whatever but I’m in a situation where I need to win. Because I need to prove to myself and to the powers that be that I still belong in the spotlight.

Justice scratches his bare scalp next to his short, Chuck Liddell-like mowhawk.

Justice: Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Stigmartyr and Decker Hollis are good because otherwise they wouldn’t even be allowed past the front door in the XWF. It’s just that I really believe that I’m better than they are. I was trained in a very tough, European style of Catch Wrestling. I’ve put a lot of hard work into getting myself ready for this moment and I’m not going to let anyone or anything stand in my way.

The pretty blonde waitress comes over and sets the steaming cup of tea on the table. Justice smiles and says thank you.

Justice: Stigmartyr? You’re just a rabid dog. A really big rabid dog but still just a rabid dog. You’re big, dangerous and maybe even a little crazy but you just don’t have the same fire that drives and motivates me. I’ll run circles around you in the ring until your tongue is hanging out by your shoes, then I’ll dump you right on your head. Decker Hollis? I caught your match last week. I don’t know if you should be in the ring after getting kicked in the head like that dude, seriously. Nothing personal Hollis but you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. You’re standing between me and what I want to achieve and that’s just not acceptable in my eyes. I’ve got 30 pounds and years more experience than you in this business. Maybe you ought to stick to oil changes in that garage of yours before you suffer permanent brain damage.

Justice picks up his tea and takes a long, indulgent sip.

Justice: At the end of the day, whether I have to face two men; three men or a hundred men, I’m going to get my hand raised next Saturday and then it’s onto the next thing and the next until I finally reach my goal of becoming the Universal Champion.

Sayers: Well thank you very much for your time, Steve. Good luck on your debut on Saturday Night Savage.

The shoot concludes and the scene fades to black.
