TITLES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS |
I remember walking the XWF hallways when I first joined the company, a little lost. I lacked direction. There are generally two people I give credit to as far as pushing me in the right direction here, three if you count my brother-from-another-mother who is currently going against everything I stand for in that other promotion that I’m going to get in trouble for mentioning here. So we have CHRISTIAN CONNOLLY, PSYKO STEVO who is probably out back scrubbing the toilets as I speak... and we also have the guy I’m out here to talk about.
Let me take you back to 2004, when on the same night, both JEM WILLIAMS and STEVE JASON were defeated by one man. Fast-forward to 2005, and TRENT GEIN and DYNAMIC DYNAMITE are also beaten by the same man. PSYKO STEVO pointed me in the right direction, CHRISTIAN CONNOLLY gave me the will to soldier on, but this guy... he just taught me how to win. Because at his best, he just didn’t know how to lose. The same names always crop up when the greatest XWF competitor of all time is discussed, and it’s a travesty that in the recent poll this guy finished at a lowly number 20. But now that he’s getting his long-overdue induction into the Hall of Legends, he should start getting the acknowledgement that he deserves. Without him, guys like me and AIDAN COLLINS may never have become who we are today. He was a guy who really showed that if you weren’t the “poster boy” type, then you still didn’t need to rely on some cheesy gimmick to get attention. In my opinion, he paved the way for the explosion of talent that occurred from 2005 onwards. So, while I sometimes wonder if I can still call the XWF my home, I’m extremely proud of the company’s commitment to respecting it’s past, even if a lot of the individuals within it seem not to. Therefore it is my great honor, to officially induct ANDREW GIBSON into the XWF HALL OF LEGENDS!
