Jenny had a smile on her face. She couldn't help it. She had gotten the win, pretty much on her own, against two girls who came in with a lot of tout. The biggest thing with her was that Chris didn't get involved, and she finally proved for the first time since the breakup that she didn't need him. She had her suitcase behind her, the wheels making noise on the tile floor of the arena's back stage. Her head is in her phone, deep in a text conversation, when she turns the corner and bumps into the chest of Chris Chaos.
"Oh.....uh......Hi."
Chris had his ref shirt on still, and a pair of jeans.
"Hello, Jen."
She couldn't help it. She still loved him, as much as she told herself she didn't.
"I see you were able to win a match without me saving your ass.....great job."
There was a touch of sarcasm in the "great job."
Jenny tried to walk by him with an eye roll, but he stepped in her path.
"Thanks."
"I spoke to Milton. Next week, you get another shot at Sugay. This time, you team with me."
Those words were magic to her. He had actually asked to team with her again? She couldn't contain a sheepish smile.......until.......
".....try not to cost us this one."
Complete deflation.
"You showed this week that you don't need me to win, but you haven't proved you can be of any use to me yet."
Any use? What happened to their relationship?! How could he be this cold?!
"I....uh......I don't need you, Chris. I will be just fine without you. And you know what? Next week, I am going to pin one of these two camera hungry whores and pic up the win for us..........without you needing to do the work. Bank on it."
She rolled her eyes and put her hand in his face, walking past. She had done it, she had stood up to him.......but inside, she hated it. A single tear ran down her eye as she walked by......
As she did, he turned his head and looked at her ass with a smile and a nod of approval.
