Scott is sitting in his hospital bed with bandages around his face. He has heard everything the XWF has to say about Gilmour and his injuries.

All I can get from this is the fact that Gilmour's Wild Card is up for grabs. You can't seriously opt the man out and expect there to be one less man in the chase for the crown. A week is plenty of time to decide someone of better...health.
