One more.

LH Harrison pulls himself up with his chin extended over the top of the bar in which he’s pulling on.

One more.

He pulls himself up again. The sweat is pouring down his face and upper-body.

One more.

He strains… he’s barely able to get his chin over the bar. He pulls again, but it’s no use. LH releases the bar and falls to the floor of the gymnasium. He bends over and is breathing heavily. He grabs one of his bottles of water and begins drinking from it thoroughly. He drains almost the entire bottle. He slams the bottle into the wall. He knocks all of the bottles into the floor and slams a fist down onto the table. He leans on the table before flinging it across the room.

I have to do better. I have to be better. I’m not losing again… My time to shine and I lose to Enigma? No… this stops now. I’m not going through another one of this… freaking… cycles.

LH Harrison walks over to the ring and flings a steel chair in. He rolls into the ring and sets up the chair in the corner. He sits in it and places his head in his hands. The thoughts rushing to his head of Enigma pinning him to the mat. Him… on the mat. He spits across the ring as he leans his head back resting on the second turnbuckle. He looks up to the rafters and closes his eyes.

What can I do? How can I better prepare myself for an opponent like John Austin? He’s sadistic… he’s hardcore… he’s willing to go to any length. I… I have to be prepared. Maybe… Maybe I’m too predictable. Maybe I need to change things up.

He opens his eyes and hits the ropes picking up speed. He stops in the ring and takes a look around. He bends over and places his hands on his thighs.

Something just doesn’t feel right. I don’t know what it is. I just feel… inadequate. I should be better than this. I’ve been given opportunity after opportunity and I just keep falling short… I need a change of pace. Something they’ll never see coming. Something… that hardcore lunatic won’t see coming.

LH walks over to the ropes and leans back against them. He looks straight ahead.

John Austin. I’m glad you decided to come back to the ring for a match with me. I’m honored. You’re a legend around these parts, but it’s time for you to give it a rest. Your older self actually told you to give it up. Yet here we are. You’re stepping into the ring with a man who’s more pissed off than he’s ever been before. I’ve been stepped on and abused since joining the XWF and I’m sick and tired of being at this level. It’s time to climb further and further up the ranks. I refuse to be a stepping stone for another dinosaur intent on denying my destiny. Duke is on my list and if I beat you then maybe he’ll be a little more noticing of my dismantling of his Brotherhood. And you threaten me with which John Austin will appear? Bring them all. The more of a challenge, the more I’ll cherish kicking your dentures down your gullet.

John Austin. You claimed I’m in your element? For someone who knows me so well, you haven’t seen how ruthless I can be. Your judgment and expulsion will be quick, Mr. Austin. I will systematically dissect you between those ropes and decimate your wrinkly face with glass placed between my fingers. I’m rowdy and I love pain. It fuels me. It brings me to another level. Don’t believe me? Ask Cain. Ask Heartsford. Ask Mastermind. Ask Spike Hannigan. All of them fell at the hands of me. Enigma…

LH deeply exhales while clenching his jaw.

Enigma beat me. I don’t make excuses. He was the better man on that occasion. Would it happen in a rematch? No way. Not a chance. I made a mistake and he capitalized on it. There won’t be a sequel with the same ending.

John Austin says that this match will be ‘fun.’ And he’s right. It’s going to be a joy finding new and innovative ways to destroy you. Maybe I’ll grate your forehead off with a cheese grater. Maybe I’ll slice the skin off your skull with a kendo stick. Maybe I’ll take a sword and lop off your finger revealing a gushing stump where your finger used to be. Oh, it’ll be your middle finger if that were to occur.

LH smirks and glint appears in his eyes.

You see, there remains to be more to see when it comes to LH Harrison. I’ve never been stable. Even as a kid, I wasn’t perfect. I didn’t have a lot of friends. I lived in a small town and grew up knowing that I would have to change my stripes in order to attain respect and friends. So I started wrestling. Except I respected everyone that I fought. I would shake the hands of every competitor I would come into matches against. I would never take an advantage I didn’t see as fair. I still won’t do that. But in a match where the rules are no longer valid, everything is fair. Everything is just. Everything is at my disposal to cleanse myself of the doubt set in stone by that Enigma match. In the match on Monday, I will show you hit you with something so brutal that you won’t be able to stand as your face gushes a crimson river. Much to my delight.

Enigma was a misstep.

John Austin?

You’ll be my saving grace.
