Why is this guy still here again?

XWF FanBase:
Nobody

(can't get crowd reactions; awkward; probably going to be fired soon)

There are some moments where you'd go back upon when you're on your death bed, wondering if you just did something ever-so-slightly different, like answer differently for that one question on a math test, maybe choose to flirt with that girl, or perhaps go drinking that one night, perhaps your whole life could have been changed. For instance, you could have actually passed your math test, gotten a new girlfriend, or even perhaps find a group of drinking buddies to hang with. For Jakob Davis, he was having one of those moments right then and there.

It was a normal Sunday, like any other Sunday. Jakob was having a 'guys night' out with his father out at the local bar. While Jakob didn't want to be near his father at that age due to both the fact that most twenty-two year old men didn't regularly hang out with their fathers at bars on Sunday nights as well as that Tim Davis, Jakob's father, had been a strict father and a driving force throughout his life. Jakob had grown up disciplined due to his father's harsh attitude, due to things like beatings, random fits of yelling, and being dragged without consent into trying whatever sport Jakob didn't want any business of.

Fathers usually have a sport they're keen on. For some, it's football. Others, it's basketball. For Tim Davis? It was pro wrestling. Being a former pro wrestler on the indy circuit, Tim Davis was scouted by the then-WWF themselves, potentially being inserted as a midcarder during the Attitude Era, however Tim had gotten a massive elbow injury during his last match that left him unable to compete again. Fortunately for him however, his family- namely his wife- were deeply missing him. However, he always kept up with the wrestling scene, watching federations such as WWE, TNA, RoH, NJPW, and the fed that would most likely matter the most here, XWF.

Now, back to the Sunday that was mentioned earlier. XWF fans gathered around the Half Moon Sports Grill to watch the delayed Savage Sunday Night. While Jakob wasn't that much of a fan of pro wrestling, he still went being the respectful chap he was. The fans were cheering as they watched matches such as Kid Kool, Kristen Silver, Vinnie Lane and the new Intercontinental Champion, Ophelia McVeigh (much to the great disdain of plenty of fans in attendance). While Jakob was mildly interested in the show out of respect for his father, he was more preoccupied with his Jack & Coke. Occasionally while he was looking down at the bottom of his glass, his father tapped him on the arm as he smiled at certain moments throughout the show, such as Vinnie Lane pinning Robbie Bourbon for the 1, 2, 3, or perhaps something like Silver and Monroe's hellacious match to unify the Blue and Green High Stakes Chips.

"I tell ya, Jakob, this show is amazing. I don't know why you don't get into the wrestling business yourself..." Oh, God., Jakob thought. This again. Sometimes, when Tim was getting into the matches, he would inquire into Jakob joining a wrestling federation, namely the XWF.

"And I told you before, Dad, I'm just not into wrestling. I don't have that superstar look or a bodybuilder presence. Hell, I'm sure at least half the guys on the roster would snap me into two like a twig." Jakob sighed.

"Hah, have you even been paying attention to these shows? There's been all kinds of people on these shows. Pot smoking frat boys, feminazis, hell, even a video game character!" Tim exclaimed.

"Heh, a video game character?" Jakob shook his head. There was no way a video game character was in the XWF. More than likely it was just the alcohol talking. At least, that's what Jakob thought.

"I'm telling ya the truth. Sure, they might have been people from the past, the people I described were all once a part of the XWF. I'm telling ya, you should-" Tim was then cut off by a commercial from the television.

Hey, people!

Have you or someone you know ever wanted to be an XWF superstar?

WELL NOW'S YOUR CHANCE!

This Wednesday night on Warfare, General Managers Frodo Smackins and Thomas Girard as well as owner Vinnie Lane announced a TRIPLE GAUNTLET to determine the next #1 Contender to the Universal Championship!

The catch? Anyone can join in! Your friend, your parents, anyone! Yes, even you, Guest!

So come on down to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania into the Wells Fargo Center and throw your name in the hat to become the next Universal Champion!

The next portion of the promo came quickly, not unlike the warnings of side-effects for commercials on medicine.

Payment will come after match. Both people on the card as well as any opt-ins are inserted into the match. The Triple Gauntlet has three Gauntlets going on simultaneously. The XWF is not responsible for any deaths, injuries, stolen items, rapes, or passing of diseases such as clostridium difficile colitis.

The commercial then turned to the original announcer for the final portion.

Test your luck and join the Triple Gauntlet for Wednesday, and become a main event player in the XWF within your first match!

Both father and son blinked at the strange commercial, before realization hit the father's face. A grin spread on his face that could rival that of the Grinch's. "Did you hear that?!" Tim shouted. "My son's gonna be champion of the world after his second match, ahaha!"

Jakob's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. Surely, on his death bed, he would remember this moment and think that perhaps, if he didn't go to the bar with his father on that fateful Sunday night, all the adventures due to the XWF that would have ensued would not have gone down. However, what was rattling in his head right now was one consistent thought: FUCK!

As Jakob didn't wanted to be thrusted into the limelight in his first match, a compromise was struck. Instead of Jakob entering the Triple Gauntlet on Wednesday for the Universal title match, instead wanting to work his way up, his father still insisted Jakob enter the XWF. Unfortunately for Jakob, his mother was on the side of his father, with Mrs. Davis telling her son to simply, "Make your father proud, sweetie." As a result, Jakob decided to debut on Savage Sunday Night (Delayed again?, Jakob noted). He was placed in the opening match against a fellow newcomer in Michael Randez in an X-treme Rules. As Tim wanted Jakob to get a mental advantage heading into his first ever match, with Tim managing for the first time in his career, Jakob was (involuntarily) filming up a promo with his father to send to the XWF website.

"Hello, XWF Galaxy! On Sunday night, you will get to meet the finest prospect in wrestling today! In the opening match against Mike Randez, you will get to see my son, Jakob Davis, absolutely squash his competition! You get to see an absolute burial in the ring! You will get to see greatness unfold as one of the biggest squashes in wrestling history will unfold!"

Jesus, Jakob thought. Dad is really hyping me up. He really knows how to put the pressure on someone.

"Now then, Jakob," Tim said, turning his attention to his son. "There anything you wanna, y'know, say before Savage?"

Jakob loudly gulped. Well, I guess now's as good a time as any to make a good first impression...

"Alright. Mike Randez, is it? You're bad." Tim made the motion for Jakob to go on, to which the latter raised an eyebrow.

"You're really bad?" Tim went off-camera to facepalm before making a motion to up the ante on the trash talk.

"Erm, you're so bad you make your mother--"

"FOR FUCK'S SAKE!" Tim's voice shouted off-camera. He then suddenly bursted back on camera, face red and riled up. It was clear that Jakob's lack of proficiency in trash pissed Tim off. "Listen here Randez you son of a bitch, you're nothing! No, you're worse than nothing! You're the scum people like my son wipe off their boots! Even though my son lacks microphone skills, he has speed that would make a luchador shit bricks! He has a mind that would make you think you need to go back to preschool! Come Sunday, there won't even be a man to exit the ring! Only a shriveled up corpse for the cops to send to the morgue! You think you got a chance against my son! You're wrong! Dead wrong! My son is gonna be the king of the XWF soon enough, both figuratively and literally, and if he has to step on your face and send you into the dirt to do it, by God he will do it!" With that said, Tim went over to turn the camera off.

Jakob's face was pale, knees wobbly. Memories resurfaced of his father yelling at him as a boy. Him getting hit. He wanted to tell his mother, so many times about how his father tortured him. And now that he was getting sent to the XWF, he had to go through all that torment all over again. It seemed as if he had to go through it right now, as Tim marched over to Jakob with purpose, and backhanded him.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" he shouted. It seemed as if he was about to do more... before he stopped himself. "You better win on Savage, otherwise you're going to experience a pain you can't imagine." Tim then walked off, likely to go to the bar. Before he exited the room, Jakob managed to stammer out, "Y- yes, sir."
