Garrett is sits on a bench in a dark room, only illuminated by a single light above his head. His head hangs as he reflects.
"Most people would be ecstatic to be where I am. Me? I'm only focused. Focused on making it to the top by any means necessary."
Garrett lets out a long breath.
"I've come a long way since my days of training in a martial arts school in New Jersey. I've been beaten down in all facets of my life and yet, here I am, a professional wrestler with one of the top organizations in the world. Like the Phoenix being reborn from the ashes, I have come back from every hardship being stronger, smarter, faster, better. By making it here, I've proven everyone wrong who said I couldn't do it."
Myers slowly raises his head with a stone-cold look on his face.
"You see, that isn't good enough for me. I do believe the greatest joy in life is doing what others say you cannot do, but I'm not here just for that. I am here to conquer every obstacle in my path, just like I've done my entire life. I am here to make it to the peak. To be able to look down from the top of the mountain and see that path that I blazed and the bodies of the naysayers littering the ground."
He clasps his hands together, beginning to think about the task at hand.
"Which brings me to you, Jack Kronus. I saw your performance in the gauntlet and let me tell you what I saw. I saw a man who has clearly become too caught up in the fame and glory of not only being in a prestigious organization, but also being a champion. From your performances in the ring, to your extravagant parties, to even receiving a handgun from a young child to fend off fans, it is evident that you have trailed off the path to greatness."
His gaze is fixated straight ahead, as if he were talking to his coming opponent face-to-face.
"I respect that you have recognized this and I do hope you get back to your winning ways because what you have, this opportunity, is not one to be waited by the glitz and glamor of fame. That being said, Jack, I will not be your stepping stone to correcting your path."
Garrett lightly chuckles to himself.
"When I think about it, we are both in very opposite positions. You are looking to abolish the distractions and set your focus back in the ring. Myself, on the other hand, my entire focus is in the ring. You are looking to rekindle a flame as mine is burning brighter than ever."
His demeanor becomes more serious.
"Right now, you are just another obstacle that I must conquer. And, as this will be my first match on such a grand stage, I plan on making a huge impact on the XWF, from the roster, to the management, to, ultimately, the fans. I will show the world that a little guy from New Jersey, who was picked on, bullied, and beaten down growing up, can grow into the best wrestler anyone has ever seen."
Now, breathing heavier from the intensity of his words, Garrett stands with clenched fists.
"Get ready, Jack. It's my time to rise!"
