I've been asked to discuss my upcoming match with an XWF interviewer going by the name of, Steven Sayors. He arrives to my locker room promptly at a quarter past noon and is all business. I can appreciate that. Mostly because I'd rather not spend more time talking to this man than I had to, but also because a man who prides himself on being direct and straight to formalities, is a good thing.
Steve wields a small micro-recorder and speaks both our names into it before he turns to me with a friendly grin and begins our interview.
Joe Tuesday, that's an odd name? Where'd you pick up a handle like that?
My name is Joe and I lost one career and started another on Tuesday. Seemed like a good enough reason to use that last name. Besides there's no reason anyone needs to know my real last name. The people here, have no place or business in my personal life. I'd like to keep it that way.
Understandable. So this is your first match in the XWF, are you nervous?
No, there's no reason that stands before me to be nervous. Do you think there's a reason for me to be nervous, Steve? Is Alex Shawn a man to fill a person's head with doubt or worry? I mean besides the obvious doubt of him being an actual professional wrestler.
No, he's not a huge threat. He's had a fairly stale career, but you've never wrestled before. This is all new to you. You could very well lose to Alex Shawn, just because you lack the experience.
What better way to prove my worth as well as gain experience and reputation? If I can beat someone who has experience here without having any experience in the ring myself, then not only do I prove I'm noteworthy, but I also remove the theory that someone needs experience to beat Alex Shawn. Perhaps that will be a service to Paul Heyman. He'll see he's wasting his money on someone who can lose to a man who literally walked in off the street.
So you really think you can win this match? You really think you can walk in and just become an XWF employee, and then start off your career with a win?
Steve, I know I can. Paul Heyman didn't put me against an unmovable mountain. I am aware of who, I'm facing. I watched his promos and I see nothing but flaws. He isn't a threat, he's a joke. A forgettable punchline to a string of bad choices and frankly I'm not entirely sure why he's allowed to be here in the first place. However, that's not my place to decide though. I'm simply here to beat him and move on. Move on to whomever they shove in the ring with me next. Then I'll repeat the process.
Confidence, I like that. You seem sure of yourself and that's a good trait to have here. I think you can beat, Alex Shawn. I also think I've gotten enough information on you to submit this short interview to the public. It's just a basic 'get to know the new face' type of interview anyway. I'm sure we'll have more time to chat in an extensive manner at another time.
Sure, Steve. That sounds fine with me.
With that the interview ended. Short, sweet and to the point.
