High Stakes was over. Chris had come out on the losing end. Jim Caedus was still the champion. Thaddeus Duke was now the X-Treme Champion. Chaos had nothing but this Trios Title belt, one that he held with two men who didn't appreciate him for who he really was. Men who didn't appreciate what he brought to the table. Men who were, flat out, not better than him.
But he had other priorities now. This match was over. He would get a shot again and he would win. But right now he needed to check on Jenny. He watched the match from backstage, powerless to do anything. He knew she was taken to the local ER. He needed to get there ASAP.
As he grabbed his bags and walked out of the arena, he walked towards the parking lot where his Jeep Wrangler sat. As he turned the corner, he bumped into Vinnie Lane, who was also rushing to get to the parking lot.
The two looked at each other for a minute, but didn't say anything. Then both headed to the parking lot. It just so happened that the limo that Vinnie took to the arena was paid off not to come. When he got to the spot where it was supposed to pick him up, there was a note on the ground. Vinnie picked it up. He unfolded the piece of paper that said "You don't own XWF anymore, say goodbye to the good life."
Theo.
Chris was driving by and saw Vinnie standing there, his hand running through his blonde hair. He had a look on his face of utter and complete devastation.
Chris knew that feeling all too well.
He came to a stop in front of where the former XWF majority owner was standing.
"Not such a good feeling being screwed, does it, Vin?"
Vinnie didn't say anything.
"Doesn't feel so good to have the one thing you love taken out from underneath you because of someone else, does it?"
Vinnie stared straight ahead.
Chris sighed.
"Look man, we both lost what we loved. Now I think it is time to be there for the only ones we've got left."
Vinnie's eyes lit up. "Roxy!"
"Yes. And Jenny. They are both at Sunrise Hospital ER."
Vinnie pulled his phone out, most likely to call for an Uber. After a long pause, Chris spoke up.
"I'm going there now. You can ride with me, if you want."
After a slight hesitation, Vinnie shrugged and walked around the the passanger side, throwing his bag in the back sweat and buckling his seat belt. Chris shifted the Jeep into gear, and the Wrangler rumbled forward.
Vinnie was fumbling with everything. Moving stuff around in the glove box, opening and closing the window. Finally Chris asked him what the hell his problem was.
"The Kings, Chris. That's what the hell my problem is. My company has been taken from me and it isn't even my fault! I am the Loverboy, I am the Rockstar, this doesn't happen to ME!"The last word was almost a yell as he ran his hand through his hair.
"I get what I want, Chris. I don't like losing."
"Join the club."
"I can't.....I can't do this.....they stole Doc from me. Samuels, Theo.....I just.....this isn't fair!"He is biting his nails, sweating a bit.
After a few moments of silence, Vinnie sighed. "I'm sorry, Chris." Chris looked at him inquisitively.
"I am sorry I cost you the belt against Reno. I was only trying to help."
"I know," Chris said. "but now we have more important things to deal with. You gave me a chance when I was down and out Vin. I didn't have a place to go. You gave me that chance. What the hell have the Kings done for me?"
As they pulled into the ER at the hospital, Chris takes a deep breath before parking the car.
"Whatever happened between us is the past. Just know that we may bicker, we may disagree, hell we may even have to kick each others asses.......but in this fight.....Chris Chaos is team Lane."
He parked the Jeep and opened the door. Vinnie sat there for a minute, looking out the window before a sadistic grin crossed his face and he opened his door to enter the hospital.
The fans were entering the arena. The pre-show was on and the dark matches were underway. Just then, Chris Chaos's music hits.
He walks down to the ring, wearing a cut off tank and jeans with a beenie and sneakers. He grabs a mic, and addresses the XWF fans who had gotten to the arena early.
"So, the ball is in my court, the power is in my hands. I have the power to decide the fate of this very belt......"
Chris taps the belt that is slung over his shoulder.
"Either AX3 is going to be the tag team champions, or the Kings are going to be. That decision, simply enough, is mine to make. You see, yet again, I get the short end of the stick. That seems to be a trend around here these days. Either way, no matter who wins, I have to give this belt up. How does that benefit me? What a cruel juxtaposition, eh? Give me the power to decide not just the fate of the top two stables in this company, but decide the fate of myself at the same time. You see I came out of High Stakes with nothing, and I was the only one. Caedus kept the belt he stole, and Thaddeus walked out with the X-Treme Title. What did Chaos walk away with? Bruised skin and a bruised ego. A reality check. I come into Savage without a match, but as the referee of the biggest Tag Team Division match in recent history. Somebody deems me as important enough to let me control this match then give me a one on one shot at Caedus on Warfare. You see while AX3 is busy being a revolving door of mediocre talent, and the Kings are busy patting themselves on the back due to their new found power, I am busy rising the ranks and making moves. You see, I came out of High Stakes as a loser, but in a weird twist, I seem to be the winner. No? I get to decide who holds gold and I get to earn a shot at MY gold the next Warfare. I remain the top dog, the main attraction, and the lifeblood of this company.
I was upset a first, understandably, and trust me I am still upset....but I am done demanding. It is time I start acting. Time I start earning. Time I start.......ending."
He grins to himself and looks at the belt.
"What does that mean? If I told ya, I'd have to kill ya. Let's just say that in this match, using the power vested in me, I am going to do what is best for ME. Did you expect any less? I am going to show the XWF community and the entire wrestling world, and show all of you people, that chaos is the new black.....chaos is the hottest trend.....and CHAOS is here to stay."
The crowd begins to buzz a little.
"Just look at who is in this match. Graves and Caedus are going to realize how much they need me. How much of a mistake they made. Look at who they scraped off the pavement......Trax and Steve Davids. Steve Davids....the returning legend who had his little come back celebration spoiled by yours truly. The man who I dispatched in true chaotic fashion is really the best you could come up with? Tisk tisk. And Trax? The man who talks a big game but loses every major match he is in? The man who was one of 5 to lose to me in the Elimination Chamber and the man who whines and cries about getting overlooked but botches every worthwhile invitation he is given. THIS is the best you guys can do? Honestly, part of me feels bad for you. Part of me wants to help you. Part of me wants to screw over those cheap suit, even cheaper perfume wearing pretty boys and one nursing home volunteer and help keep the titles in house, if ya know what I mean. Part of me wants to do that so I can keep a belt around my waist until it comes time to finally take Jim's from him.
The crowd really buzzes now.
"So, what am I going to do? Well, plain and simple, I am going to call it down the middle as best as possible."
The crowd boos at this.
"I couldn't say that with a straight face. I know what I am going to do and who I am going to help.....but stating that here.....well that wouldn't be very good business would it? I am going to make sure that the first Savage after High Stakes is one to remember for sure. I am going to make sure that by the end.....everyone is talking about it. I am the one who has been dragged through shit and has come out smelling like roses. Now it is my turn to do a little shit dragging........
It is time to make AX3 and the Kings forget about their little beef......and focus solely....adamantly.....100 percent....on CHAOS"
He drops the mic as the crowd buzzes and leaves the ring as his music hits.
