~The Movie Moment~
Parkland Memorial Hospital is an interesting place.
Back in the day, I made a brief alliance with an infamous man known by most as Lee Harvey Oswald. I preferred to simply call him Lee.
One day, Lee settled the sight of his rifle, and he shot a bullet that caused an explosion in the back of President John F. Kennedy’s head.
Kennedy was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead.
A few days passed, and Lee Harvey Oswald was the obvious suspect for Kennedy’s assassination. Although he was widely believed to be guilty, which he truly was, he was still going to be given the due process that Americans in our country entitled too. He would be given the formality of a trial, before he would have been sentenced to either life in prison or death, death would be more likely.
Then, a man by the name of Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald live on television. Oswald was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Many conspiracies have tried to explain Ruby’s motive, but he made the claim that he was trying to do the right thing. He said he wanted to make sure that Kennedy’s wife didn’t have to testify in front of her husband’s killer.
In the end, Jack Ruby died of a pulmonary embolism in Parkland Memorial Hospital.
Sometimes, life almost seems scripted or choreographed. There are chains of events that don’t seem real, they must have been thought up by some writer in Hollywood. There are so many events that have strange coincidences or are simply heart felt, feel good moments. On Saturday night, I will find myself coming full circle once I’m standing in front of the crowd at Dealey Plaza.
On the day of President Kennedy’s assassination, I had a turning point in my life. It was a pivotal moment that changed the man I was and started me down the road to who I am today.
When I had the opportunity to help assassinate the president, I was conflicted. I struggled with taking action under the immense amount of pressure that weighed on my shoulders. I knew that my actions could change the lives of tens of thousands of lizards in a positive way, and it would rearrange the United States political climate. Nowadays, people that are in their older years will site the assassination of JFK as one of the most impactful moments of their life.
In my life, this moment was impactful because I failed to take action. I failed to do my job, and I was lucky that Kennedy met a bitter end without my help.
My match in Dealey Plaza seems too coincidental to be true. I’m facing off for an opportunity to wrestle for the Television Championship on the 28th. After my losses, a win and a title shot can bring back my credibility to the XWF fans that don’t believe I’m a high caliber wrestler. I can undo the damage of last week’s blunders if I win here; coincidentally the place where I made such a huge mistake decades ago.
The world has been full of these storybook scenarios. I can even point out some examples from the last decade.
It wasn’t long ago when the New England Patriots went undefeated in the regular season. It was 2007 when the Patriots seemed to be a dominant, unstoppable force. In the last week of the regular season, they faced off against the Giants. The Giants weren’t anything to scoff at, they had a 10-5 record and they were well on their way to the playoffs.
But the Giants played their hearts out against their undefeated counterparts. They wanted to spoil a 16-0 season for the Patriots. Both teams put up a shit ton of points, but in the end, the Patriots barely came out as the winners.
Over the next few weeks, The Giants fought through the playoffs. They had to battle it out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chaos’ favorite team, in the first round. On their journey, they eeked out a 23-20 win against the Packers in Over Time. They managed to come out on top at each turn, despite the close match ups.
In the end, the Patriots and Giants faced off again at the Super Bowl. The scrappy Giants, which came ever so close to ruining a perfect season for the Patriots weeks before, got their second shot. Only this time, the game would determine which team takes home the Lombardi trophy.
With less than a minute left in the game, the Giants took the lead and delivered a stinging loss to the New England Patriots. A touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress was all it took to give the Giants the edge in a close game.
That moment always felt choreographed to me. The underdogs failed in their first shot, but they were able to overcome in the rematch. They prevailed and it was a feel good moment, assuming you don’t hate Eli Manning’s guts. It was surreal. The way that Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw scraped for every yard they could get, and the will of the team to come out on top against the Packers in OT leading up to the Super Bowl. It was the satisfying conclusion of some sort of movie. The circumstances were just perfect and they flowed together to form a coherent storyline.
So often in the world, storyline’s are thought of as unrealistic. If a good thing happens to a main character or if there is impeccable timing, people cannot suspend belief. For some reason, people can’t buy into something working out so flawlessly. The Giants upsetting the Patriots is an easy example of a real life storyline occurring.
My match on this week’s Savage is another example of a natural storyline.
A win against Venom Vega throws me at the top of the contender’s list for the belt that I lost only a week ago. It pushes me back to the top of the food chain on Savage Saturday Nights, and this win allows me to erase my record and get a shot at regaining my role as XWF Television Champion.
I can correct my wrongdoings in a place that is close to my heart, and I couldn’t ask anything more from this homecoming of sorts. I may not be an underdog, but everything is coming full circle for me.
When I stand above Vega, I’ll have a moment to take in a picture perfect moment. The fans cheering for me, while I stand in Dealey Plaza with my hand raised in victory. Forever in the annals of my mind, this memory will overshadow the darkness in the past, as I ring in the second chapter of my career. The chapter where I will regain the belt that I deserve, and I will once again break boundaries for the championship.
It may have all started in Dallas with a bang, but it will end with a thud once I drop Vega on his head with a Nixon-Nator. That’s not a wise tale, that’s not a scene from a movie, that’s not some goddamn prophecy. That’s reality, and it will be in the historical archive of XWF after I put Vega away on Saturday night.
~Debunking A “Threat”~
Vega is not in the same league as the men I typically wrestle. He’s a newcomer with one XWF match under his belt, and the person he beat is an absolute joke. He beat Aldo Nardozzi in a back and forth match. He failed to make a statement, even against an opponent that shouldn’t have put up much of a fight. If Vega was a true dominant threat, like he claims to be, then he would have tossed the 4-20 kid around like a rag doll. Vega would have made his presence known with a destructive performance.
But that’s not what went down last week. He showed some promise, but I’d wager that most XWF fans forgot about their match because Caedus and I tore the house down with an early match of the year candidate. I lost, but I showed my talent and my heart. I left a positive impression on all of the viewers, even though I came out on the losing end. That’s more impressive than the lacking debut of Venom Vega.
When I heard Vega criticize my body of work, I wasn’t offended. I listen to what others have to say, but that doesn’t inherently give them merit. Vega’s words have no credibility. He can say I’m some kind of weasel, but I’m far from it. I don’t cheat to win. I don’t jump my opponents from behind. I just play it smart. I have a record that shows I’m better than what Vega wants to give me credit for.
I don’t care if you’re bigger than me or if you’re stronger than me because I’m a lot smarter than you. Wrestling is different from weight lifting. There’s a mental aspect. There’s a level of strategy and momentum that helps me succeed. But you don’t understand that concept. Against Nardozzi, you showboated and acted like a cocky asshole. You exposed a flaw in your game because every moment you aren’t on the attack, you are giving your opponent time to think and recover.
Go ahead, Vega. Try to toss me around the ring and beat the tar out of me. This isn’t my first match here. If you’re lucky enough to show your power and strength in the ring, don’t get arrogant. The moment you hesitate, I’m going to catch you in a victory roll, and I’ll pin you fair and square in front of thousands of people. And in those few moments, I’ll change the trajectory of my career, by putting myself back in title contention.
You’ll learn that it only takes three seconds for me to beat you, and it will happen in the same place where Americans learned it only takes seconds to change the world. Of course, Kennedy didn’t learn that lesson; his brains were in his wives hands at that point.
After I beat you, feel free to call me a worm or a bug, maybe even a coward. I don’t care because you don’t mean shit around here. Until you build up some identity or record, nobody here gives a damn if you chop wood and try to speak in parables. You have to prove you can swim, before wrestlers give a shit about your intimidation tactics.
I wish you good luck in proving me wrong because from all the evidence I’ve seen, and the XWF fans have seen, you don’t stand a chance.
