"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always try one more time."
― Thomas A. Edison
I want it all.
Hello, my friends!
I know what you're all thinking.
What more could the Good Doctor possibly want out of this fine organization?
What more could he do to prove that he's the greatest competitor to ever grace the XWF?
What more could I take?
Well, the writing would appear to be all over the wall now, wouldn't it?
Warfare will host a little tournament for a new title being unveiled into the company! The new XWF Intercontinental Championship! Pretty exciting, am I right? Competitors lined up for the opportunity to compete for this new title. Everyone from the likes of Cain and the Knight to Mister Fernando and Goat Face Killa. Even the King of Darkness has crawled out from the shadows and graced us with his presence.
Looking down the list of names in this tournament and I couldn't help but notice so many familiar faces involved. Frodo Smackins for example.
Mister Hobbit, we've been down this path before. Surely you remember the tournament deciding the new King of the XWF. I was unaware that you were permitted to even participate in any more XWF events, but it's possible that I've overlooked a few details once again, as well. Perhaps there was some loophole that you've discovered which allowed you back in.
Ha.
Not only back in, but competing for a title...
I must say I was a bit disappointed when I heard the news of you being terminated. I've always looked at you as a sort of mascot for the organization. You never hesitate to involve yourself in anything that is going on in the XWF. Any riff raff, any disputes, any mishaps, and any opportunities... You've thrown yourself at persistently. I give you credit, Mister Frodo. Over and over again you come back for more. Whether it be confidence or stupidity, you always come back. No matter who is involved. If you somehow make it to the final match against me you could consider it a chance to redeem yourself. To show some of the other talent here that you could stand up next to the Doctor and actually pose as a challenge. Sure I had my slight advantages in our last encounter, but what does it matter? We're in the same position we were in during that tournament. We're sitting on opposite ends of the bracket. The tables have changed a bit though.
A few new faces.
A few old faces.
Take your first opponent, for example.
Austin Fernando!
How have you been, sir? I see you haven't given up quite yet, have you? I'm glad to see your persistence, as well, my friend. I'd hate for a session with the Doctor to discourage you at all. Along with all of the other times you've failed thus far during your stay here in the XWF. I'd just call it poor decision making on your part. It seems every other week your competing for a new title. What do you suppose is going to change from week to week? I'm sure it took a bit more than just 'stepping it up' to face me the first time. What are your plans this time? Stepping it up a little more? Trying a little harder? Increasing your training on the side? My friend, if you haven't realized it yet, I take what I choose. I am what I am today because I want to be. I was never given anything around here, I've earned it. I am King, because it would be completely absurd if I wasn't. Could you imagine someone else around here prancing around with the crown atop their head? Someone like Mister Frodo? Just be thankful that someone like the Good Doctor has come along to take the role as the leader, the face, of the company. It only makes the rest of you look that much better. I do look forward to following your steps through the tournament. There's no doubt in my mind that you'll have no trouble disposing of your first opponent. I'm counting on you to crush the little Hobbit's dreams before he has a chance to open his mouth once more. After you eliminate him in the first round, perhaps he could go back to the tug-of-war that is the Federweight Championship. That just seems a bit more fitting for him.
This is where it gets a bit more exciting.
The King of Darkness has risen up and made his return to the XWF.
Mister Duke, I believe I've introduced myself to you once before. Well, hello again, my friend. Now don't take this the wrong way, but the Doctor has had his eye on you since he first came to this fine federation. Not saying I was ever looking for a fight, but perhaps I was. I've always been someone who likes to prove themselves and prove to the world that I deserve what I have. If you're not familiar with my work around here, allow me to share it with you. I am the reigning, defending XWF X-Treme Champion. I am a current holder of the XWF 24/7 Briefcase, and I am the reigning King of the XWF. I'm aware that we share a few of those accolades. That being the X-Treme Title and the briefcase. You've even beaten a lot of the old greats during your time here. I wouldn't look at that as any type of advantage though. Surely you're smarter than that as well. If the Doctor was part of the organization in the previous year, I'm sure I would've had my battles with the likes of Griffin McCallister, Mark Flynn, Eli James, yada yada, yada yada... And I'm sure I would have proven to each of them that I belong at the top, just as I've had with the new class of XWF superstars. These new faces that you're obviously overlooking are more of the threat than you're prepared to face. This is not the XWF of old. The Doctor rules the roost now. Go ahead and call Warfare your playground. It is my feeding ground. Since I switched brands and became part of the greatest show on the planet, I remain undefeated, my friend. Unscathed. Victory after victory. Which is quite similar to my success on Madness, minus a single instance where the Doctor was taken down. So, yes, I believe you've definitely overlooked the single true threat that awaits you in this tournament. Where do you focus? On Cain? Come now, Mister Duke. I know the two of you have some sort of history in the past, but why not leave that poor sap alone, my friend? The fellow has been through enough already, don't you agree? Not only has he changed his image as many times as you've won. I believe he's also lost that many times as well. So he won the gauntlet match? Let him have it, Mister Duke. Why kick the dead horse, my friend? He may have been the last entrant, he may have had the most strength when it came down to it... There are always if's, and's, and but's in these types of situations. He's going for the Television Title anyway, where he is no match for Jacob at all. He could get lucky, I suppose. Jacob could win the Universal Title this Monday, thus giving up his precious Television Championship. That could open quite a window for you couldn't it, Mister Cain?
That window of opportunity has been sealed shut on you for quite some time now, hasn't it Mister Cain? It's been a long, hard road, but you've never given up. I know we've had a few short run ins in the past... but there's nothing like a true one-on-one session to bring out the best in someone. You're also one of the few gentleman here that haven't had a session yet. Why so, Mister Cain? I've announced time and time again that my doors are always open for new patients, and you sir, are in quite some need, I believe. If anyone around here could use a sit-down with the Good Doctor, you're the perfect candidate. With a past like yours? Goodness. I'm not sure if one session would truly be enough. I suppose you never know though do you? Perhaps, you and I could end up facing off in the second round of this tournament. What a treat that would be.
Speaking of treats... Mister Wallace appears to have entered the tournament, as well. This gentleman was involved in my very first title defense as the X-Treme Champion! The match included, Mister Wallace, Mister Top Gun, and Mister Ferrari Punk. If I had to choose which one of you stuck out the most, it would be you Mister Wallace. With that session and along with the several pin attempts that you've had against me, I would say that you're quite interested in becoming the X-Treme Champion, am I right? Well, good news for you!
It's a known fact that my title is on the line twenty-four hours a day, including all of my matches during this tournament.
You'd probably ask yourself...
Why would the Doctor put himself in such a jeopardizing position?! Why would he risk his championship for a petty show-title?! As I said before, my friends, I want it all. I also can't just sit back and watch another tournament such as this go on without involving myself. I do not lack in confidence. I do not lack in talent. I do not lack in smarts. When I sweep through this tournament, starting with TJ Wallace, and I become the first ever XWF Intercontinental Champion, you'll all just smile and nod.
That's right.
Smile and nod and go about your business because everyone should already know that my chances in coming out on top in this is better than most. Mister Wallace, I suppose it's better for you to face me in the first round rather than the second or third. Then again, I do enjoy getting my patients hopes up before sending them crashing back down.
You have had plenty of time to make a name for yourself here in the XWF, Mister Wallace. Now you're simply wasting your time. As many times as you and I have met you'd think that you would've given up a long time ago. But you don't. You're just like the rest of this ridiculous crowd of fools that you surround yourself with. You're going to need a few more stepping stones before you're ready to compete at this level again. I'm through wasting my time with talent such as yourself. After I become the first ever XWF Intercontinental Champion and remain the XWF X-Treme Champion, I'll be defending two titles ever time I make an appearance on Warfare. Two title simultaneously. That makes your mouth water doesn't it?
All of you small time boys are so concerned with chasing the gold week in and week out... Trying over and over again. Fail once, try again. Fail twice, try again. That must get old. It's certainly getting old for me. It's already clear that you've all realized that you can't compete with the Doctor. The pin attempts have become scarce. I have to basically beg for a session out of any of you. Most recently, I reached out to all of you. I was willing to place my X-Treme Championship on the line against three other competitors. THREE. A four way dance, friends.
You know what I ended up with?
Two.
Two men raised to the occasion.
Two.
You'll never know the disappoint that I felt when that card was made. No one else stepped up to the opportunity. I suppose it was the smart thing to do. It doesn't matter who I face or how many I face. I come out on top. I win. I walk away.
This tournament is no different. I will defeat TJ Wallace for a second time. I will move to the second round and whether I face Goat Face Killa, Cain, Sebastion Duke, or Hysteria, I will walk away with a victory. And the finals are just the same. I'm here to rule the XWF. I want it all.
