She's Just A Woman -->
When you've murdered as many people as Cain, a few are bound to visit you from time to time. His brother. A trusted priest. His own fiancee. Thousands of countless others. You name the important people in the life of Cain and chances are that he has murdered them in cold blood.
But why? Simple. The nature of the man is the same as an apex predator. He has to remain at the top of the food chain in mind, body, and soul. Who knows what would have happened if Abel hadn't been killed? Maybe he would be more powerful than his murderous brother right this very second.
Cain does what any super athletic being would do. Picture it. An empty room save for the weight bench in the center of the room, with the five hundred pound barbells. Not much challenge for a "meta human" with Cain's strength. A man who can rip cars to shreds is just that strong.
So that makes him the "Anti Superhero". Like a deadly counterpart to Kal-El. The Last Son of Eden.
"Pfft. You don't need a spotter?"
The voice was familiar as it should have been. Cain pushed the weights up and set them on the bars. He sat up and looked into one of many mirrors lining the walls, and there he saw him.
"Abel?"
Cain's mouth was agape with shock. He thought he'd rid himself of the apparition.
"Oh, don't play at not recognizing me dear brother. After all, you ARE the one who took my life. And for what? For jealousy? Envy is a sin, dear brother. You know it is and one that you cannot be forgiven for."
A devilish smirk came over the face of the "Last Son of Eden".
"I'm not asking for forgiveness. After all why should I? Murdering you no matter what the reason was the best thing I'd ever done for myself. You can understand that because I know that you desire power as much as I."
The visage of Abel was silent. Awkwardly silent. Finally a smile spread across his face.
"Oh, but we all know that as much power as you garnered from my death, you are still a loyal servant to your master. After all, we all know about the deal you made with him before the whole thing started. Right? You remember, right dear brother?"
He remembered the deal. He remembered it like it was yesterday.
Cain's Mind
Yeah. I remember that day.
It was a beautiful day. This was of course back when I enjoyed those sunny days. There was a light breeze causing the wheat in my field to sway gently. Heh. Back then I would whistle happily while I worked. I was a mortal man. No super powers. No murderous intent. Just a hard working farmer. Deep down however, I always felt as if my life was lacking.
They loved Abel. He was good with people. Excellent with animals. Every calf he raised was a prize winning animal by today's standards. Some blue ribbon shit that farmer's daughters got wet over. Abel was perfect by their standards.
I was just Cain. Not the baby. Not a people person. I was powerless, but as I learned that day, I didn't have to remain that way. As I tended my fields, I heard the hissing of a creature in between two of my stone "shovels". Upon further inspection, it turned out to be a serpent.
Being the naive human I was I had my shovel at the ready to behead the creatures, but then it spoke.
Back to Present Day
"And like a loyal follower, you listened."
"And as usual, little brother has to be the center of attention and fucking interrupt me. Yes. Like a loyal follower, I listened. But if you heard what the serpent offered, I believe you would too."
I couldn't believe it. Of course I never believed the stories my parents had told me. Mother had said that a serpent had tricked her into eating the forbidden fruit and gotten she and father exiled from the Garden. You humans know the one. Of course, my disbelief was proven false.
"Wait! Stop Cain!"
I stopped, shovel held high in the air. I waited for the serpent to bite me, because I knew that these creatures were created by the fallen angel himself. Disbelief or not, humans have always had a fear of snakes. As I stated, I was human at the time. But no stinging bite came. Just more words.
"If you kill me, then how can I inform you of this great plan my master has for you? The master doesn't take kindly to you mortals murdering his servants. Trust me, your life would be even worse than it is now, so I suggest you listen."
Okay. So I don't know why, but something deep within me made me feel compelled to listen to this snake. I could have done what my father always taught me to do, but this little bit of "shadow" which stained my heart for the better of me. I jabbed the shovel into the ground next to the serpent and looked at it curiously.
"What's wrong, Cain? Do you find this form unpleasant?"
"My father told me of your kind, serpent. Your kind are evil."
"And of course you should have listened to father."
"Oh yes, and then all the bible stories would be about you " Cain replied mockingly.
The serpent and I coversed after my initial reaction to his appearance. The serpent explained to me that God would give his favor unto my brother and that no matter what I did that Abel would always be the favorite. You would think that knowing me now, this wouldn't bother me quite so much. However, back then I was still human.
"So GOD'S favor falls upon Abel no matter what I do, right?"
"Pretty much. The Lord plays favorites, but Cain...so does my master. My master sees potential in you, young man. He feels the darkness lurking within your soul. He KNOWS how valuable such power is, and is looking to strike a deal..."
"...I'm listening."
Of all the deals one can make, a deal with Lucifer is the most beneficial. It was simple. Kill. Lie. Be downright evil and remorseless. In return? Become legendary and live forever. Never get old. Never get sick. Never die. What kind of fool would I be to pass up such an opportunity?
So here I am today...the Cain of legend.
"Okay...I get that. Ultimate power. I always knew you were evil. But why did it have to be me, brother? Why not Adam? Why not Eve?"
Cain sat there silently for a moment, then reached over, picking up a bottled water. He looked at Abel as he sipped on the water, the apparition staring back as it sought an answer. Cain just smirked.
"Well?"
"It's simple. They always liked you more. Envy may be a sin, but it's justified in our case, brother. I toiled away at my fields every single day and what did you do? You herded cattle and sheep. Now I understand that is hard work, but you never had to plow into the Earth with a stone plow did you? You never got blistered from the scorching sun, did you? No. Yet he chose you...they chose you. But it's different now. A new power chose me as his champion. And brother?"
Abel sighed as Cain raised his hand, thumb and forefinger pressed together.
"You're too far gone, aren't you?"
Cain just snapped his fingers. At this point, every mirror in the weight room shattered, all at once. The exposed skin of Cain was cut, bleeding but as quickly as they opened the wounds healed. Cain stood there with an evil grin, remarking...
"I am his Messiah and I am more powerful than you can dream of being. Believe it."
