I have spoken to you, Lucius, yet the words have flown over your head.
I know that we, as the human race, are evil; why else would I bring up religious wars?
Why else would I mention the holocaust?
Because I have poor taste?
Because I want to compare you to a human being far worse than you?
It's actually because I can understand that we are our own devils and angels.
I don't have to turn to fictional stories to find the heroes and villains of the real world.
All I have to do is look outside, observe my surroundings and the people within those surroundings.
There are no myths there.
There are no devils, angels, Gods, demons, or any sort of beings that have corrupted your mind like the story of your mother has.
It's a shame that you have to come up with a lie in order to justify your mother leaving you at an orphanage, a damn shame indeed.
Even worse, you just so happen to believe that an old rottweiler is a hell hound that kills children once touched.
You aren't the only one to mock our appearance and our choice of anonymity.
However, you will be the first to realize that you are already in hell.
There is no such thing as an almighty being that pulls our strings, nor is there a big red man that tries to command our every action.
This is the hell we as a race have created.
You're just yet another pawn in their game.
Enjoy your stay.
After successfully destroying a small time cult of Satanists and rescuing a few hostages, they decide to celebrate the night by looking for another mischievous gang to destroy from the inside out. This time they brought along their youngest member, Caleb, to help out in any way he can. The moon is shining brightly in the night sky, giving the Hidden Order enough light to travel along the road without being detected by the naked eye. They travel silently and do not make any noise as they walk along the street. The only noise that is being emitted from all twenty one of them are the sounds of their shoes hitting the sidewalk after each step they take. They are unable to hear any sort of commotion or see any kind of suspicious men in any sort of suspicious clothing, which is quite rare, since the cities in Illinois usually have something going on.
They stop walking for the time being and disband into separate alleyways, leaving the leader and the young student by themselves in the night. There is a moment of silence as Caleb looks at Jack, who is looking up at the moon without a care in the world. Looking to break the silence, Caleb clears his throat to get the bandaged man's attention. It doesn't work, so he decides to ask a question to him in the hopes that an actual conversation will occur.
Caleb: So...did the satanists give you any problems at all? I mean, they were armed and dangerous.
Chortling can be heard from the bandaged man.
Jack: Armed? Barely. Dangerous? Not at all. If you've noticed, the blades were dull and were barely able to make precise cuts. You saw how terrible those pentagrams were, correct?
Caleb nods in approval.
Jack: With blades that dull, they had to cut at their abdomen at least thrice in order to show any signs of bleeding. The people we saved would've been bored to death before the Satanists were able to cause any serious damage.
Caleb: I know, but they were determined to scare the shit out of everyone with whatever they were making. You sure they didn't have any sort of plan with that film they were making?
Jack: To be honest, I'm not quite sure just what they were up to. They didn't appear to be any older than their early twenties. Maybe a revenge scheme or a drugged out high.
Caleb: Were they Pagan?
Jack: Unlikely. Pagans have been stereotyped as the witches and warlocks of the world enough as is. They are generally peace loving people, despite the Gods they worship. I believe that those college kids are just idiots.
Taken aback by Jack's rather quick judgement of the people he just killed, Caleb can't help but laugh at what he just said.
Caleb: I'm sorry, Jack. What makes you believe that?
Jack: For one thing, there's Saint Peter's cross. They think it represents the devil, but it actually represents how St. Peter felt that he didn't deserve to be crucified the same way as Jesus. There's nothing scary or satanic about that.
Caleb: What about the basement setting? Was it really their basement?
Jack: From what we've managed to gather, it was their parent's. They were completely oblivious as to what was going on in that basement. I have no idea why they didn't go down there and check up on them when they heard screaming down there.
Caleb: Are they used to screams from coming down there? I mean, like from play fighting or playing loud music or something similar?
Jack: People can be stupid. My opponent is no different. You already know that we, as a human race, are violent creatures. We are also very stupid when it comes to who we choose to run our lives. Not just in terms of government and motivations, but also in terms of faith.
Caleb: What do you put your faith in, Jack?
Jack: In each other. Once we start believing in ourselves and not in white lights or raging fires, I believe that we can truly advance not only as a race, but also as a society.
Caleb: Are you...are you insulting religion?
Jack: I am only using the forgotten's view of religion. I am not insulting anyone when I say this.
There is a brief pause.
Jack: However, Satanism is not a religion. It isn't even an excuse for the most perverse torture known to man. It's a fad that needs to be destroyed, much like the corruption in this world today.
Jack walks off into the night, leaving Caleb by himself. He shakes his head and follows after him not too long afterwards, forcing the scene to fade out once they leave the field of vision.
