Don't judge a book by it's cover
Mine may tell you that I'm beautiful, intelligent and important
But let me ask you a question...
...do you really know who I am?
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere...
"So, are you going to talk to me yet?"
Rays of the moons light try to sneak through the dark clouds in the night sky, the heavens completely open as the rain fires down from the sky above.
The water on the roads wave from side to side as the Bentley Continental of Kristen Silver speeds along the country road. Sat firmly in the drivers seat is Erin Williams, hands firmly placed on the steering wheel, her eyes completely focused on the road ahead.
Erin: I've already said sorry...even though it wasn't my fault!
Sat in the back of the car is Kristen, eyes staring down at a diary in her lap, a pen wiggling from side to side in her hand, still completely ignoring her assistant.
Erin: Come on Kristen. We've been driving for three hours and you haven't said a single word, that's a miracle in itself...so much so that I'm beginning to get worried!
Kristen: Don't you dare insult me, Williams! Yeah, I used your second name, I'm not sure we're good enough friends for me to address you by your first name!
Rather than take insult to what Kristen said, Erin let's off a cheeky smile to herself, just happy that Kristen has finally spoken.
Erin: I told you Kristen, I couldn't do anything about it! They'd made the decision to book you like that before I'd even gotten there!
Kristen continues to stare down into her diary as Erin continues to try to break the tension in the cold nights air.
Erin: And besides, I thought you wanted to prove yourself? I thought you wanted revenge?
Lifting her head up and leaning forward, Kristen snaps back again.
Kristen: I don't have to prove myself to anybody! I was robbed at Relentless, I shouldn't have to be talking about revenge, I shouldn't have to be proving myself. How many times do I have to say it, I'm Kristen Silver! I'm worth more than all of them on name sake alone!
Erin: Maybe you are, but some don't agree.
Kristen: Then they're uneducated morons!
Erin: Whatever you think of the people who question you, this is a chance to prove it was a one off, a fluke like you claim. Can you imagine the scene if you win this?
Kristen: I'm imagining...
Erin: Picture this. You got out there against ELEVEN MEN. You beat all ELEVEN of them. Not only that, but you eliminate the man who robbed you at Relentless. You stand tall, the queen in line for a TV title shot. All eyes on you, all of you attention drawn your way, everybody speaking YOUR name.
Suddenly the words of Erin get through to Kristen, her mood beginning to adjust as her attitude and facial expression both completely change, almost a cunning smirk now drawn across her face.
Kristen: All of the attention on me?
Erin: All of it!
Kristen: I deserve the attention!
It's incredible how somebodies mood can completely swing in a matter of seconds, Kristen now completely leaning forward over the drivers seat, talking away in the ear of Erin as they both looked forward through the car window screen, the rain still crashing through the night sky.
Kristen: It's a good point Erin, one I'd obviously already thought of.
Kristen acts as if she'd actually even considered any of that, Erin shaking her head slightly to herself, knowing she's talking absolute nonsense. None of that matters to Erin though, she's twisted Kristen's mood back around and that's all that matters to her.
Kristen: Still, none of that makes up for having to travel to Ohio. Ohio sucks!
Erin: Do you actually like any city or anything that isn't Miami? In fact no, don't even answer that...
Kristen leans back into the back seat, reopening the diary in her lap in the process.
Kristen: Why the hell did we drive anyway? Why couldn't we just do what normal people do and take a flight?
Erin: Because we aren't normal people, we're special. You love our road trips anyway!
Kristen: I am quite special aren't I!
Erin smiles to herself again as she passes a sign on the side of the road, she manages to narrowly read it through the pouring rain.
Erin: Weathers getting pretty heavy anyway and it's late, there's a motel just up the road that we can stop at.
Kristen: A...a...motel? This day just get's better and better!
Kristen looks back down to her diary, Erin now focusing firmly on the road ahead. Kristen glances out of the window, raindrops thumping down onto the car, the moon still trying to shine through the cracks of the clouds and the trees crashing from side to side. Looking back down at her diary, Kristen puts pen to paper and begins to write away.
28th August, 2014.
And so we go again. Again I find myself being in an unwanted and unfair position. Once again I find myself having to prove myself. How many times must I ask, do they really know who I am?
They see me for my exterior. My natural beauty, my beautiful smile that lights up the room, my beautiful hair that sways through the air, my perfectly toned figure. It seems none of them know me for what sits within. Throughout my life I have manipulated my way to the top of everything and anything I've ever set my sights on. Am I a bad person? No, I'm just the best at everything I do, but I've always had the ability to be able to manipulate whatever I want in my favor. Because I'm that smart, I'm that intelligent. The beauty, the smile, it fools a lot of them.
No, they don't know me. They don't know my story. They don't know what I've seen in my life, what I've been through. A spoiled, attention seeking brat. A drinker, a party goer, somebody who wants everything given to them on a plate. Is that who I am or is that what I've just made them believe I am? Maybe I'm not what I seem. You tell me diary, who am I?
Sometime's life throws you curve balls. If anything can be handed to me on a plate, you best believe I'll take it. But they don't know me when the odds are stacked against me. When my back is against the wall. Who am I then? What am I capable of? Never underestimate the power of manipulation. Never underestimate the power of intelligence. And never judge a book by it's cover.
Erin: We're here!
Erin pulls the car to a screeching halt in one of the parking spaces at the motel. Kristen raises her head from her diary, not giving a response to Erin as her thoughts are still locked on what she's putting onto the paper.
Erin: Kristen? You okay?
Kristen rattles her head slightly as if in a daze and a complete daydream.
Kristen: I'll catch you up.
Erin: Oooooookay!
Erin looks on almost surprised by the response from Kristen. No moaning about the motel or the long drive they've just been on to get here. Erin isn't going to argue with it what so ever though as she pushes the door open, stepping out into the pouring rain. Quickly slamming the door shut, Erin quickly scuffles across the path, narrowly avoiding the puddles. Kristen swings her side door open and steps out into the rain, diary still fully open and pen in hand, a more thoughtful look on her face.
The rain continues to drop from the sky as she places the diary on the hood of the car and writes her final words, drops of rain falling onto the pages of paper.
One doctor believes he's evaluating me. Let the games begin.
Kristen slams the diary shut, letting off a rather strange and almost sadistic smirk. Lifting her head up, she stairs up into the night sky as the rain falls down upon her face.
Who am I?
I'm Kristen Silver
