Two weeks ago Theo Pryce was approached by the Bob Dilmore, Executive Vice President of New Projects at Universal Studios about turning Theo’s life into a movie. After mulling it over for a few days and talking to his lawyers Theo decided to take a meeting with Bob, it was as much an exploratory sessions as anything else. Theo wanted to know exactly what Bob’s ideas were. While Theo has no need for the money that would be earned from selling his life story, or from the movie being made there is a certain allure to having a film made about your life. The rub, Theo isn’t one for the lime light, despite being born and raised in it and now being at the forefront of a multinational corporation as well as one of the faces of the XWF.
The meeting went well, ideas were shared, monetary figures were exchanged. And now it was up to Theo’s lawyer Hollis Thomas III Esq. to finalize the details so that “Money Matters”, the working title of the project can be made. So when Hollis Thomas III Esq. calls Theo it is received with great fanfare.
“Hollis how’s it going? I take it you have some good news for me?”
“Indeed I do but not exactly what you are thinking of.”
“Oh, is that so? Well what have you got for me.”
“Well, I assume you are familiar with Jaguar?”
“The British car manufacturer?”
“The very same.”
“What about them?”
“Well they want you be apart of a commercial they are filming.”
“That’s…um….hmmmm…I thought you were working on finalizing the deal for the movie?”
“I am, that’s still ongoing but we are making great progress. In the meantime, Jaguar reached out, they really want you for their commercial.”
“Ok, well talk to me about the concept. What is their vision?”
“Well it’s pretty simple really. They want the Jaguar to be seen as the car driven by villains. Specifically British villains.”
“Hmmmm, and they want me why? I’m neither British or a villain.”
“It’s acting Theo, you want to act don’t you? It’s no different than that wrestling you do.”
“Back up a second, are you inferring that the XWF is somehow fake? That it’s all an act? That it’s a soap opera for grown men is that what you are saying Hollis?”
“No, I was just saying that you could easily play the part of a British Villain.”
“It sounded like you were saying a little more than that Hollis but whatever, its water under the bridge. So you said Villains, I take it they have more than just me in mind for this commercial?”
“Yes they do. Sir Ben Kingsley and Mark Strong.”
“Sir Ben Kingsley? The man is a legend, why do they want me in a commercial with him? And Mark Strong, I’m a fan of his work as well.”
“I’m not entirely sure on that point, from what I gathered, the daughter of the CEO of Jaguar is a big wrestling fan. Apparently she saw you on TV when you were in London recently and she talked her father into contacting me. And so here we are.”
“How old is this girl?”
“No idea, I got the sense that she was a young teen, 14 maybe?”
“Well it’s always good to have fans I suppose. Tell you what Hollis. I’ll do it. It sounds exciting.”
“Don’t you want to hear the figures and the time table?”
“Not really. Money isn’t an issue as you know and the time table, well I can make that work no matter what.”
“Not to push the envelope but they are working with a short time frame, very short in fact. Like, they want you out in London today.”
“Well, that’s certainly unexpected but doable. Fortunately I can conduct business from our London office and I have no wrestling commitments until next Monday. When do they want to start filming?”
“They already have actually. Since there are no scenes where the three of you are in the same room together they have been able to film each person’s scenes individually and will then just edit them together.”
“Brilliant. I love the British.”
“And they love you apparently.”
“Thanks Hollis."
“Wonderful. I will make arrangements for you to be picked up from the airfield and taken to the studio.”
“Sounds good.”
Approx. 12 hours later
“Mr. Pryce, Mr. Pryce! Hello my name is Milton, I will be your driver to the studio. It’s a short trip, about 10 minutes.”
“Pleased to meet you Milton. Thank you.”
Milton escorts Theo over to new Silver Jaguar F-Type Coupe. Milton opens the door for his guest before walking around the car and getting in the driver’s side of the vehicle. A few seconds later and the car is on the motorway.
“Sir if you will permit me to say, I am a huge fan of yours.”
“Is that so?”
“It is. The way you broke onto the scene and instantly became one of the top guys is remarkable.”
“Well thanks Milton but I didn’t do it alone. Things worked out very well for me. But thank you. Always pleasant to meet a fan. So tell me Milton, is this what you do? Drive around various guests of the studio.”
“Yes sir it is.”
“Do you like it?”
“I do sir. It’s relaxing. It’s much better than sitting behind a desk all day.”
“That it is. Did you graduate from University Milton?”
“Yes I did.”
“And what was your field of study?”
“Economics.”
“And you are driving guests around despite having an advanced degree in Economics.”
“Times have been tough sir.”
“Indeed. Well tell you what, here is my card. If you ever decide you want to do something else give me a call. I have offices throughout the world. You want to stay in London fine, you want to move to America? We can do that as well.”
“Thank you sir, that’s extremely gracious of you.”
“Don’t mention it.”
A few moments of silence pass as the drive comes to an end. When Theo finally arrives at the studio he is greeted at the door by Wanda Jones, the assistant to the commercial's Director.
“Hello Mr. Pryce, welcome. If you will follow me right this way we can begin going over your lines. There aren’t many so it should be rather simple.”
Theo looks around to see the various green screens and fake sets, off to the right is what appears to be a private helicopter built for comfort as well as quick travel. Wanda takes notice of Theo’s wandering eye…
“Ahhh yes the helicopter. I assume you don’t have an issue with flying being as that you just flew here but part of your scenes will require to you be up in a helicopter going at fairly high speeds. I hope that won’t be a problem.”
“No not at all.”
“Great. Right this way sir.”
Wanda and Theo make their way across the filming area where a middle aged man wearing a head set is standing over a bank of small screens.
“Theo Pryce, this is Christof Peterson, he is the Director of this shoot.”
The man revealed as the Director turns around and greets Theo with a wide smile and one of those handshakes where the person uses their free hand to grip both their own hand and the person they are greeting’s hand and holds the hands in place for a few seconds.
“Mr. Pryce, so nice to meet you. I apologize for the rush on things but we are up against a deadline, I am sure you can appreciate that.” Exclaims Christof in what appears to be an Eastern European accent, possibly Russian.
“Absolutely. Shall we get started then?”
“A man who wants to get right down to business, I like it.”
“Good to hear.”
“Wanda if you will show Mr. Pryce to wardrobe we will get everything else ready.”
‘Very good Mr. Peterson. “
Wanda leads Theo down a short hallway and into a room marked Wardrobe on the door. Wanda then introduces Theo to the staff in there before walking about out of the room, shutting the door behind.
