"When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do."
-Walt Disney (Animator)

During my first little attempt to pursuit some knowledge for myself, it didn't really seem to go very far without my parents noticing, which is mostly because I had to do something that had mainly consisted of what some people may refer to as 'spy work'. As in, 'snooping around' to gather information and the like. Unless my memory is a little incorrect, I don't think I really associated it with being a spy or anything like that. More rather, it was like some research to me... how I knew that word at that time is pretty astounding though, as I was actually going to a public school at the time.

There you go, now I'm not quite as snooty as you may have expected... well, yet, anyway.

Where was I... oh yes. Now, the goal here, as you may recall, was to pretty much just learn about my parents works. It was a simple an innocent act of curiosity, but as stated above I didn't really do it in a direct manner. As in, I didn't just go and ask them about it. No, instead in my nine year old mind I thought it would make more sense to sneak my way into their work. Fortunately, though, their own work timetables seem to have fit well with my school timetable, which I am aware that that is usually done intentionally for a child at around the same age that I was.

It was a case of my mother working from nine in the morning to two in the afternoon on a Saturday - which is a fairly short shift for someone with a job like her's - and my father working at an evening run on Sunday evenings, attending the weekly boxing events and the such.

As you may have noticed about me, I am always one who prefers to plan something out before running headfirst into something with zero-to-no rhyme or reason. Whether I picked up this trait or if I was born with it or something along those lines I've never really seemed to have found out, since even in this instance I am referring to, I have found myself in a similar situation: planning out my actions carefully prior, although not in any esteemed medium of doing so - instead just scrawling on a sheet of paper like I'd imagine any nine year old would probably do.

The easy part was figuring out how to sneak into my mother's workplace. It was easy because on days that I was ill from school, my mother would take me to work and situate me in the break room, where I - as a young child, mind you - would sit there and play Pokémon Gold for the rest of the few hours. Needless to say, I was easily preoccupied as a child. Especially with small animals that fought on a little monitor in my hands, and that part where--

...Let's just get back onto the subject.

I was met with a small dilemma - in that not only did I not want to fake being ill, but I couldn't, because - since my mother's a biologist - she would perform a quick 'test' to see if I was fibbing or not. So that was out of the question, no doubt. I realised I would have to go in on a Saturday instead, and back then I wasn't really that good of a... persuader, that I am today. So getting my way into there on a day such as that without rousing as much suspicion as possible was to be deemed quite a challenge. A challenge, no less, that I was willing to accept.

Then there was the trouble of trying to figure out a way to get into my father's workplace. This was to be tricky for two reasons. One; I had not actually been there and two; it was up late. Past my 'bed time' as it were. So I had to concoct a method of going to his workplace without either my mother or my father noticing.

A very tricky predicament indeed. But not one I would end up abandoning, or leaving unfulfilled...
